After the end of the Second War, life was slowly returning to normal. Most of those who'd missed a year of schooling because they were in hiding, or for other reasons, have returned to finish out their education. It finally seemed Hogwarts would have a normal year. At least, as normal as it can get.
Until the Ministry announced a new program. After the amount of deaths, population became an issue. So, each 6th and 7th year wizard is to try on a hat. This hat is much like the Sorting Hat in the fact its able to see the person's mind. But it doesn't sort you into a house - it shouts the name of the girl each of these unfortunate males would be best with. It creates a binding magical contract that can only be broken by going through a long, tedious process with the Ministry. This can take up to 2 or 3 years. Within a year, the pairs must marry. Along with this, the hat has its own special magic it casts on each of these people. It starts feelings for the other person stronger than just a friendship. Overtime, it unnoticebly fades, making any feelings for the other person real. Though no one is aware of this magic at all.
Consequences for not following the Marriage Law are quite severe. They include loss of your wand and a life sentence in Azkaban. So, who will try and make these odd pairings work? And who will downright refuse?
RULES
[ x ] Feel free to double up on characters, but I'm making a limit of two. This is simply so more people will have the chance to join. And if you do double up, I ask that please one character be male and the other female.

[ x ] If all the OC's (original characters) in the pairings below end up taken, and you must have an OC, I will allow more to be made. Simply put in your bio whether your character was one of the lucky ones that didn't get paired with someone, for whatever reason.
[ x ] When making an OC, be sure to note in the bio who your character is paired to. When grabbing a cannon character, simple posting that you'd like that character will suffice. Maybe a picture as well, if you desire, though most cannon's will have an actor counterpart from the movies.

Name: Adriane Malfoy Age: 16 // 6th Year Gender: Female Birthday: June 23rd House: Slytherin - Chaser on Quidditch Team Paired with: Harry Potter
History: Adriane Malfoy, as to be expected of a Malfoy, is spoiled rotten. She's grown up with her older brother, Draco, just as any other child in a high-class, pureblood family. She was brought up to believe she was far above anyone else and no one was worth her time. She was taught in deciet, giving her the power to wrap authority figures around her finger and thus making it to where she could simply do whatever the heck she wanted. However, she discovered her parents "dark activities" a bit sooner than her brother did, and took an unnatural liking to them. By the time she was watching her brother leave for his first year at Hogwarts, she'd already read as much as she could on Voldemort and other Dark Wizards in the past. Though it wasn't until right at the end of her fourth year did she truely act upon her fascination.
Her fourth year at Hogwarts was the year her father had been discovered and sent off to Azkaban. She hadn't known but about the entire situation, but knew enough to be convinced it was Harry Potter to get him sent off. It was then she developed a bit of a hatred for the boy, though she'd barely known him beforehand. Just beore her fifth year started, her and her brother joined the ranks of the Death Eaters. She was well aware of how shocked and fearful her mother was, and how much Draco despised it. But Adriane embraced it. During her fifth year, she had become one of Voldemort's most valuable spies within the castle. Long before the time of the Final Battle, the 15 year old had wormed her way up to the point she was equal in rank - if not higher - than Bellatrix Lestrange herself. After the battle, less faithful followers Mark's had faded...yet Adriane still wears hers and isn't afraid to remind others.
Personality: Just as she was raised, Adriane acts like most other high-class purebloods. She believes she's far above anyone else, and will not hesitate to put others in their place. Though her sarcastic, snide comments are not only saved for the Mudbloods and blood traitors. They will even sometimes extend further, to pureblood Slytherins like herself. Even those with good names, she believes, are lower than the Malfoys. Unlike her brother, she will not stand to be around any "bumbling idiots", as she'd always dubbed Draco's two cronies. She also has a great sense of family pride. She is highly aware that all the money and power she has comes from her family name, and does nothing if there is the slightest possibility it will bring down her family's standing even a little. She knows some of her classmates are aware of the Mark she keeps hidden underneath her sleeves, and will readily use it as a threat if the situation calls for it.
Around authority figures, this changes. She is able to make herself into a kind, sweet person. Teachers in the school think they are aware of some of what goes on when Adriane is talking to other students, though they don't really have any clue to the extent it goes to. Anyone at all, she is practised enough to decieve them and bend them to her will, without them noticing. She's able to watch a person, and tends to note small facial changes that help clue her into what the other person is thinking. Anything discovered generally goes to decieving this person or blackmailing them for some purpose, however. Adriane is also a bit...flirtatious. Though many other girls have their skirts higher than they should be, hers tend to be just a bit shorter. She feeds off male attention, though stays classy when trying to get it. She refuses to avert to any behaviours that might mark her with any bad names other girls might think up.

Name: Irial Hayes Age: 16 // 6th Year Gender: Male Birthday: August 12th House: Ravenclaw Paired With: Ginny Weasley

History: Irial led a very priviledged life, as an only child to a quite rich family. Though with the War, he never truely picked sides. His whole family agreed some with getting rid of the Muggle borns, though never acted upon these thoughts. He was taught the same things as many purebloods are - that he was above anyone else, and anyone who is not pure of blood is to not be considered. When he started Hogwarts, he was immediately Sorted into Ravenclaw. This came as a slight shock, as the rest of the family had been in Slytherin, though it caused no uproar as it might've if he'd been sorted into Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. If not Slytherin, Ravenclaw was a suitable alternative to the family. Throughout the years, Irial didn't get much involved with what was happening against Voldemort. He was one of the ones who simply ignored the situation, and didn't really give a flip what happened. Until his fifth year, when him and a certain Malfoy girl started hanging out. It was near the beginning of the year the two become a bit more than just friends. It wasn't a secret; they just didn't go out of their way to tell anyone. But his relationship with her got him involuntarily into quite a bit of it. Often he was helping her with something related to whatever Voldemort had her doing. Aside from this, he did his best to stay out of it.
Personality: Irial is a very cocky, arrogant person. He doesn't put down people he believes are below him; no, he simply ignores them. He believes they aren't worth his time, and isn't willing to put in the effort to make them either start crying or get angry. He's a bit on the silent side when in public, though isn't shy to speak at all. He has some strong opinions on things, and will debate them if someone goes against him. He believe's he's always right, and if need be will do the typical Ravenclaw thing to prove his point: pull out a book. He does take his studies very seriously, and has managed to become the top student in 6th year.
Irial happens to also be abit of a flirt. He can't help but wink at a few girls that he's usually convinced himself are in love with him. Though generally none of them are. It goes back to his arrogant side, thinking every girl is in love with him and that he's just the best looking person to walk the face of the Earth. Though he never goes further than harmless flirting with other girls.

Agyness turned away as he leaned closer, a look of disgust evident on her features. "Don't make me laugh," She retorted, "I wouldn't trust you with such a complicated plan. You're better off leaving me be." She tried to not let it show, but Malfoy was getting to her. Almost no one had been able to grate on her nerves this much before, and it made her insides writh uncontrollably as a deep frown formed on her lips. It irritated her to no end to realize that this was the man that she was to spend the rest of her days with, if the Ministry had their way. She cringed at the thought of spending a lifetime with the blonde buffoon, having to attend balls and act as a perfect trophy wife.
Neville became flushed ever so slightly as Luna came over. He tried to resist the embarrassment, but how could he not? She's still a friend, still a friend. He repeated over and over in his mind. For now, he would try to keep his mind off of the match as he and Luna attempted to soothe Harry's and Ginny's fears. "Got a plan in mind, mates?" He took a seat next to Ginny, an inquisitive expression on his ruddy face. Neville was usually never the brains of their operations, bringing the brawn and bravery of a Gryffindor as he stepped up to the plate whenever the occasion arose.
As Aleska laughed at the small joke that he made he couldn't help but smile. Well he seemed to be getting the seal of approval. This gave him a sence of comfort that he reather liked it. It seemed to him that they would be spending an awful lot of time together and it was nice to know that they wouldn't exactly hate each other.
But as he thought about that he seemed to realize that this hat had matched them perfetly, and most of the time the hat knew the wearers of it better than they knew themselves. This made him wonder what would happen with more time. Would the two of them end up actually happy about this decision. He didn't know, but today wasn't really the day to discover that. They needed to take this thing one step at a time.
Theodore watched as Aleska turned to see the scene that was still playing out with everyone else. That was going to be an epidemic that was for sure. But then Aleska's head was on his shoulder. It kind of caught him off guard but he didn't move at all. It was nice actually, that she was comfortable around him.
Then as he thought about it more and more, right now they only had each other. Everyone else had their own problems to deal with.. The only person here that he had anymore was Aleska. And it was the same for her. Whether they were happy about being paired together or not they were going to be spending an awful lot of time together. As he was thinking that he could feel her folding into his shoulder even more. This time he brought his arm up around her. "Are you okay?" He asked her.
Draco shrugged but kept right on smiling at her. Agyness was a little ball of fire that was for sure. He couldn't help but admire the way she stood up for herself. That and she didn't seem to be cowed by anyone. That was impressive in a girl these days. He was unconcerned with her attitude. If she chose to fight this then that was her choice. She didn't think he was smart enough to help anyways. "As you wish. Let me know if you get anywhere with that plan beautiful."
He gave her a cocky wink. Well, at least he could have some fun while he was at it. She seemed to be bristling at his banter so he was getting to her. She didn't know him so her threats and insults meant nothing.
Aleksa couldn't say anything her emotions were still too raw. She did nod her head though. She just wished that this whole thing could be over so she could go back to bed. They didn't know what was supposed to happen next, so they were going to sit tight and wait.
She smiled slightly as his arm went around her. She thought of Harry and Ginny and their debacle of pairings and almost felt guilty for feeling relieved. Theo was amazing. His attitude even now when it seemed like their worlds were falling apart around them was great. He was being ever the gentlemen and they were friends after all.
Finally, she found her voice. "I'm okay. I'm just tired." Her voice was soft but strong. Stronger then she felt but that was a good thing. She would need all of her strength to get through the next year. Though, again she couldn't help the fleeting thought that maybe it wouldn't turn out that bad. Maybe this is what was meant to happen?
Aleska stayed quiet and he couldn't help but feel awful for her. The poor girl had been through a lot in such a short amount of time. They both had. Just this morning they had both woken up expecting to be paired with the people whom they had been with for years. Then their worlds were turned upside down. Now they were told that they were to get married within the year. That meant making a life long commitment to one another, they were to start a life together, start a family together, and then grow old together. That's what marrige is and what is expected of them.
But the more and more that Theodore thought about it, he started to realize just how good he had it. Looking around there weren't too many people that he would be able to put up with in this situation. But Aleska he could. He couldn't help but wonder if they would actually grow to become okay with this. Even in the back of his mind he wondered if eventually they would love each other, if one day they would be grateful of this hat. Well even if that day came it was still a while off. Theo needed to figure out how to get through today before he thought about the rest of his life.
Finally though he heard he speak. "if you want to close your eyes and rest for a little while you can" he told her as he rubbed her shoulder gently. He knew that Aleska was exhausted. Actually he was too but he knew that rest would not come easily to him. "if you want I will listen and when they start giving out more information I will wake you" he added.

Beautiful? Agyness made no effort to spit more venom his way as he only seemed to be nonchalantly reflecting it. Simply being in his presence grated on her nerves, and Agyness found that a few students that had been looking their way were snickering softly. She silenced their chuckles with glares, but Agyness knew that they had all witnessed that little humiliating exchange between herself and Draco. They had just seen the ice queen falter on her pedestal of intelligence and arrogance, and it gave Agyness an odd feeling to know that the people who had once lived in fear of her presence now knew that she possessed some measure of weakness. She quickly left her seat, not caring if the staff minded or not; besides, her match had, unfortunately, already been made. She crossed her arms over her chest as she made her way into the Entrance Hall, where she would have a chance to cool off and think about her scheme.
Irial had stepped down away from the hat, his eyes refusing to turn towards the Gryffindor he'd just gotten paired with. He had headed towards Adriane, but she had bolted. That left him standing not too terribly far off from the Gryffindor table, alone with two choices. Follow after Adriane - which would likely get him murdered - or attempt to speak with the Weasley girl. He opted for the second choice.
"Weasley," he said as politely as he could muster once he had reached the girl. A cocky smirk played on his face as he stared at the girl, noticing easily how the whole descision had affected her so badly. He stood silently with his hands in his pockets, waiting for her to look up.
Adriane had gone no further than the Entrance Hall. It was still nearly deserted, despite the fact the Pairings were nearly over. She had forced herself to keep it together - crying was a large sign of weakness, and that was something that could not be displayed. SO she was pacing back and forth, fists clenched, until she heard footsteps just by the door to the Great Hall. Stopping, she watched as Agyness Badwan exited, appearing to have just had a run in with someone who had gotten on her nerves greatly.
After a split seconds thought, the Malfoy turned to the other girl. "You plan on fighting this as well, Badwan?" she asked, appearing quite nonchalant. She didn't much care for the girl, so it didn't matter to her whether or not she married her brother. But if Agyness planned on fighting against it, Adriane saw no problem in helping her as long as she got some help in return.

Lovely. Agyness looked up to find another Malfoy in her presence, this one female and rather distraught. But through the upset atmosphere that seemed to encompass the Entrance Hall came a voice of reason. "Of course," She answered rather courteously, surprising herself with her own tone. "Have you thought up a plan, Malfoy?" Agyness inquired, her defenses lowering as she was ready to hear Irial's ideas. They had never been the best of friends, but dire situations called for drastic measures. If Irial was more receptive (and intelligent) than Draco, then maybe Agyness would be able to worm her way out of the system.
Smiling she looked up at Theo. He really was great. She didn't know why they hadn't gotten to be better friends before all of this. She had always thought he had a nice smile but she hadn't taken the time to look closer then the surface. Now that she was forced to she was sorry it had to be under these circumstances.
Sighing, she settled against him for fully. "Thank you Theodore. Your being very cool about all of this." She said it in almost a whisper and her eyes were already closing. She wouldn't admit out loud how little sleep she had gotten the night before. Charlie had insisted that everything was fine but her mind simply wouldn't rest. Guess, her subconscious was right. Now, however all the emotional upheaval was just too much.
As her breathing evened out she slowly slipped into the black void, smiling slightly at how comfortable she was being with him.
Ginny was gaining control of her breathing and her nerves when a voice sounded at her side. Turning she saw none other then the guy she had been Paired with. Wonderful. Pushing off from the wall, Ginny straightened up to her full height. Taking a few more calming breaths she cursed herself. She was a Weasley for Merlin's sake. She shouldn't be acting like this, though she really wished her brothers were here. Fred was gone for good but George would have been a strong pillar of support. She didn't have them however, so she was on her own.
Turning fully toward him, put her hands on her hips and surveyed him with her brown eyes. He seemed a little out of sorts, but not overly so. She wondered briefly why he hadn't run after Malfoy. Sweeping back her ginger locks and after a long pause, Ginny finally decided to speak. "Haynes. What are we going to do about this?" She deliberately included him in the question. As they were now bound by a magical contract, had been since the moment the hat had shouted her name from his head.
Draco shrugged his shoulders and couldn't help the growing smile. "Okay sweetie," he shouted after her, "I'll wait and see what we are supposed to do next." He watched as she disappeared through the large doors. She was a pistol he would give her that. He turned around to find several people snickering after her and that didn't set well with him.
"Oy! Mind your own business!" He growled it out at the room and large and followed it up with a good hard stare. Satisfied he had gotten his point across, he sauntered back over to his spot on the wall beside the Slytherin table and resumed his lean. He was ready to get out of this hall. The ministry needed to hurry up and inform them of their next step.
Theo watched as Aleska looked up at him. He had always found her to be beautiful. Normally she was different than the type of girls that he went for though, but she was always beautiful. That was for sure. Of course now he noticed even more, now that he was looking at her as someone he would be spending his future with instead of one of his friends that he wasn't even really that close to.
As he heard her speak he smiled. "Oh I'm just keeping it together for you" he told her. "Normally I wouldn't be this cool" He added quietly. It was true. He knew that right now she needed him and that was more important than his own needs. Right now Aleska came first.
He felt her fully rest against him and started stroking her hair so that mabye she would sleep just a little easier. Finally Theodore felt her breathing slow and he knew that she was asleep. He never did stop stroking her hair though. He stayed where he was. For the first time today he was content. For the first time everything seemed like this might all turn out okay.
Adriane stopped her pacing, her arms crossed loosely over her chest. Just the thought of a plan seemed to calm her down considerably. "Well, there's always the legal way," she mentioned first, giving a small eye roll. Legal was never fun, in her opinion. "Get our parents into this and it'll be two months before this whole thing is over with and completely forgotten." She shrugged lightly, having not thought of another way to go around the system. "You thought of anything?"
Irial shrugged, his arrogant smirk still planted firmly on his face. She wasn't being too horrible to him, which was a good thing. Though the fact she took so long to answer suggested her thoughts still weren't completely together, which meant the next few minutes could be quite unpredictable. Though the question was simple, generic, and expected. "Go through the Ministry, I suppose. I'm sure we won't be the only ones trying to get this mess reversed." He hadn't spent much time thinking of this at all - he had been certain him and Adriane would be paired together, so he'd seen no need until now.
A Ministry official stepped up after the Pairings were finished, sweeping his eyes quickly over the students in front of him. He had watched the fights break out, but had been expecting such. None of the glares from students mattered to him much. He had a job to do. "Now that we have that over with, I'd like to go over a few things with you. Though I'm sure you already know. Now that you've been paired, you have one year from this date to marry. Failure to adhere to this law is punishable to the highest extent, including loss of your wand and a lifetime term in Azkaban. There is always the paperwork to file, though I warn you now the process for this can take a few years, and even with it in the system, you must marry."
He stopped, allowing this to sink in for the ones who were just now hearing about all of these rules. "Any questions?" he asked finally.

Agyness smiled softly at Adriane's words, actually managing to laugh. "Right you are. But honestly," She sighed, pausing, "I see no other way than getting out parents involved. Draco, your cousin, whatever he is, didn't seem to have any bright ideas himself. Not that he's the brightest..." She laughed once again, shaking her head. At least some Malfoys seemed to possess some degree of intelligence. Agyness brushed her ginger hair from her face, looping some strands behind her ears as she crossed her arms over her chest, tapping her foot as she thought.

Looking at Neville as he asked about a plan, Harry exhaled heavily. "Only the paperwork way so far," he answered. "There's got to be another though..." He mumbled before remembering that Neville and Luna had been paired together. Should he congratulate them? Why not. At least they got along and actually liked each other - as friends at least. It was certainly better than getting paired with a stupid Malfoy. "Er, congrats on getting paired with Luna," he said, looking between them both. It might be an odd pairing, true, but he thought it could work well enough. Now himself and Adriane Malfoy however...that definitely wouldn't work out.
But suddenly, Ginny's name was called. Huh? Why was she being... Oh, bloody hell. Irial Haynes was sitting up there with the hat on his head. No way. Ginny and Haynes? There was no - freaking - way. But seeing Adriane Malfoy storm out of the Great Hall pretty much proved that there was a way, and Ginny and Haynes had just been paired. Harry felt like storming out like Adriane or punching Haynes' stupid, smug face into the ground. Either/or.
But just as he was seriously considering the second option as the other boy walked over to Ginny, Harry's attention was caught yet again by something else - a Ministry official who had stepped up to explain the rules to them. As if they didn't already-
WHAT?! Even if they filed all that paperwork, they still had to get married?! No way. Absolutely not. He was not going to marry Adriane Malfoy - Azkaban was far more appealling, quite honestly.
Questions? "Yeah, I've got one," he said, walking angrily up to where the official stood. "Isn't there any other way out of this? Because I am not marrying that spoiled brat this stupid hat put me with."

Ginny nodded her head. Well, at least they were on the same page. He was right too. There were people popping up all over the Hall that seemed ready to start signing paperwork right here and now. She scanned the crowd and saw a few select couples that didn't seem to upset. Her eyes rested briefly on Theodore Nott and Aleksa. She certainly wouldn't have picked that couple out but they did get along fairly well. Merlin some people got all the luck.
Her head snapped back up to the front as a ministry official dropped one more bomb on the room. More chaos erupted. Now, it seemed even if they filed the paperwork they would still have to get married?! How was this fair? Running an agitated hand through her red hair, Ginny crossed her arms over her chest.
"Bloody hell." She muttered. Looking up she pinned Irial with a wry and sarcastic look. "So your church or mine?" She let out another curse but it was under her breath. She was becoming so agitated that she started pacing.
Draco let out a little snicker at the announcement of this new rule. Well, wasn't this just grand. He would be stuck with the little minx in matrimony no matter what it seemed. Brushing off a stray hair from his robes he stood up slightly after Potter asked his question. Then he followed it up with one of his own.
"So, are you going to be performing ceremonies here? Or do we need to make arrangements and show you guys proof? And who do we see about filing for..." What do you call this? "filing for unPairings?" Okay so that was three questions. So sue him.
Theodore stayed where he was, brushing over Aleska's hair as she slept against him. He wasn't used to anyone falling asleep on his shoulder other than Reagan but he might as well get used to this for him and aleska would be like this an awful lot now. And if theo were being honest with himself he didn't mind. Contrary to what he would have thought this morning he was actually comfortable. and from the looks of the way she was sleeping aleska was comfortable too.
Then Theodore heard someone from the ministry speaking. He listened without waking Aleska up. They hadn't said anything that he didn't already know. More or less they just comfirmed everything. He looked around and saw all of the arguments start once more. Then theodore decided to wake Aleska. He rubbed her arm gently and spoke quietly "hey they've said all they are going say. Let's get you up to the common room so you can sleep" he told he gently.

Neville stayed quiet, not a word coming from his mouth. Should he speak up? Or should he just leave the last words to belong to Harry and Malfoy? Don't be a wimp, Neville, He berated himself. Ask! But on the outside, he quivered simply at the sight of all of the imposing Ministry officials and the Professors. But he plucked up the courage, clearing a throat before raising his hand into the air. "'Scuse me," He spoke, surprising himself with the assuredness of his tone, "But is... is this even legal?" The stupidity of his question was obivous amost as soon as the words had escaped his lips. But surprisingly, no one seemed to laugh. The students were all solemn, although a few smirks appeared on the faces of the adults.
The man turned to the first boy to speak up, having already prepared himself for angry tones. "Other than the way I have just mentioned, no. There is no way out of it." The second boy, a blonde one, seemed more gathered in his thoughts. "Ceremonies must be set up on your own, though a Ministry official will conduct them. Paperwork can be recieved from your Head of House." He was aware of four certain teachers glare at his back at the moment, though ignored it. The third one seemed a bit...thick in his opinion. "Of course it's legal," he answered shortly. "It's a Ministry passed law."
He glanced around once more. "Alright then! One last thing before I go. Don't give up on this too quickly. I'm sure you'll all see things a bit differently with time," he announced before heading off, not waiting for anymore possibly angry questions.
Irial had turned to watch the guy speaking, a very lazy look over his face. He didn't care what the oaf had to say - he'd known the whole thing already, down to the last little rule that went along with the law. His father was, after all, one of the ones who'd worked on the horrid thing. But he let out a chuckle as Weasley swore under her breath. "Such language. Not very becoming for someone such as yourself," he shot, a small bit of sarcasm seeping into his voice at the end. But he shrugged, his cocky smirk no longer present on his face. "I'm not too worried about it. My father can get any paperwork pushed through in about a month or so," he replied nonchalantly.
"Brother," Adriane corrected Agyness a bit sharply. She refused to comment on her brother's intelligence level; she didn't find to him to nearly as dim-witted as this girl was making him out to be, though she didn't find him to be the most brilliant person on the planet, either. She let her arms fall to her side, resuming her earlier pacing once again. "But yes, getting the parents involved seems to be our best option." She stopped once more, hearing a loud, official sounding voice carrying out through the Great Hall. "Seems we've missed whatever 'important' announcements they had," she added sarcastically. She was positive that whatever had been said she'd already known about, so it held no important to her at all.

"Let them blabber on," Agyness scoffed, throwing a scathing look over her shoulder towards the great oaken doors that led to the Great Hall. "If I have it my way---or rather, we get what we desire," She corrected herself abruptly, "Then I see no reason why we should worry. Money and power always changes things." A soft snicker escaped her lips as she murmured, "Putting a little fear into their hearts wouldn't hurt our chances." But Agyness knew that she had to try diplomacy first. If bribery wouldn't work, then terror tactics would have to be put in place.
Neville sat back down rather embarrasedly, his ears flushed along with his face. "Looks like we're done for," He murmured, biting his lip as his gaze was glued to the stone floor. He had next to no objections about being paired with Luna. It was his assortment of other friends and their partners that he was worried about. He knew that if nothing was done, his friends would be destined to live a life of misery in a dark, dank manor along with their Slytherin matches.

Luna looked at Neville with a confused smile as she sat down next to him. "What do you mean Neville?" she asked in her Irish lilt. She had been away with it like usual. Well that was a very Luna thing to do anyway. The slightest presence of Nargles made her attention span turn to 0. She looked around. Oh people had been sorted with some very unusual partners hadn't they? That was unexpected. Well at least she had been sorted with one of her friends then.
Ginny gave Irial a scathing look. "My language is my own. I'm not out to impress anyone and if you don't like it then tough." Her pacing had stopped and she seemed to have better control of herself. This could be dealt with of the she was sure. As the ministry official wrapped up this whole fiasco with a final word on the rules of the law, Ginny heaved a sigh of relief. Maybe they could all go up to the common room and try to figure a way out of all this.
"Well, now that we have been thoroughly dismissed." She looked over at Irial. Like it or not her fate was now tied to his both by law and a magic contract. Even if they did fight it, they would have to be married within the year. "So, do we do this together or are we doing this separately? Much as I hate to admit it, we seem to be tied together in this. Like it or not marriage is in our immediate future."
Crossing her arms over her chest, Ginny gave the Ravenclaw a hard look. She would prefer having his support but she would do it with or without it. Thing was, with it they would get along a whole lot better. Though she didn't even want to thing about the trouble Malfoy was going to cause them along the way.
Draco shook his head. Well, this certainly wasn't how he imagined the next year or so going. Pushing off from the wall, he meandered out of the Hall only to encounter his other half and his sister. That made for a dangerous pair. Tossing his bangs out of his face, Draco sauntered over to his sister.
"Did you get a load of the last little bit from the Ministry? Paperwork is given by our Head of House and we set up a time and date with the Ministry official." He gave her a grin. "Oh, aaaannnndddd..." His gaze shifted to Agyness. "Even if you file to get un-Paired...you still have to marry before the year end date."
He waited to see what reaction that would get from her. He loved the facial expression that chased across her face.
Aleksa woke to a gentle hand and a soft voice. She couldn't believe she had slept that well. Looking up at Theo she gave him a shy smile. "Did I miss anything important?" Rising up off the bench she stretched out her slightly cramped muscles. She still was a bit tired but at least she could stand on her own now.
Scanning the crowd, she assumed whatever the Ministry had dropped in the time she had been asleep hadn't been good. There was still anger and resentment thick in the air. She looked over at her Paired husband to be. "I'm fine for now. I think we need to do some talking and figure out what exactly we are gonna do."
She needed to be caught up to speed on what the whole deal was before she made any decisions on her own. Then they would have to come up with a plan for the two of them. Obviously, getting chucked in Azkaban was not in the plan nor was getting her wand taken from her. Aleksa wasn't really sure on the whole filing against it plan either. The Ministry seemed to have made sure that whatever loop holes could get them out of this were hard to reach.
No. The two of them would have to sit down and decide what was best for them. The reality of the situation was you could either learn to live with who you were Paired with or you fought the system which doesn't always work out like you planned. Nope. This choice was going to be difficult.

Neville looked up at Luna, sighing quite slowly. "I meant that the upcoming months are going to be very interesting." He glanced around at some of the pairs that remained in the Great Hall, some overjoyed, some blank-faced, others depressed, and others fuming. Had Cupid purposely tried to ruin everyone's love life for the sake of procreation? No, it hadn't been Cupid's fault. It had been the fault of the Ministry of Magic, as always. Neville glanced at Harry and Ginny, aching as he knew that his friends were in pain.
Agyness frowned as Draco reappeared. His words simply added to her current state of frustration. She bit her lip as she fought back scathing words. It seemed like his sister wasn't so bad, and Agyness wasn't about to attack the nice girl's brother right in front of her. The look on Draco's face was telling, as it was obvious that he wanted to get a rise out of her. "Well," She began, attempting to keep the majority of her verbal venom stored in her verbal arsenal, "We'll just have to see about that. Money and power never hurt matters." A smirk appeared on her lips ever so faintly as she was confident that her scheme would work.
Theodore sat there rubbing Aleska's arm waiting for her to wake. Part of him dreaded her waking for while she had been asleep things were peaceful and he had let his mind wonder off to thoughts of what days after today could possibly be like. But now that she would wake things would go back to reality and honestly he had no clue what they would do next. "well the ministry officials finally spoke. They said that we were to marry by a year from today, if not wands would be taken and we would be sent to azkaban. Paper work will take years." he told her. "its not really anything that we didn't already know" he finished.
As Theo heard what she said he nodded his head. Aleska was exactly right. They needed to decide what was to be done. To him Azkaban was not an option. He would rather marry someone he didn't love than go to that wretched prison for the rest of his life. And honestly he would never wish that life upon Aleska, she was too good for Azkaban.
No, they would have marry one way or the other. The question was were they to stay married of try to deal with the ministry and get this all taken care of. "would you like to stay in here or go somewhere quieter?" he asked her. Teddy was still worried that she needed her rest by then again he knew not to argue with Aleska. If she was to stay awake then the best he could hope for was to get her somewhere quieter away from all of the commotion.
Adriane let out a small laugh, nodding in agreement with Agyness' words before her brother appeared from the Great Hall. Her face fell into a blank expression as he spoke, having learned not to let her emotions flit across her face so easily as Badwan was. Rolling her eyes and resisting the urge to aim a kick at her older brother, she spoke. "Honestly, Draco?" she scoffed. "You know the second they see the Malfoy - or Badwan - name on those forms it'll all be over with before the year is over." The addition of Agyness's name had been a quick thing, almost an afterthought. Simply because it didn't matter to her what happened in her and her brother's situation. "I give it a month, maybe two. But no longer than that."
Her ice blue eyes travelled slowly from her brother to the doors of the Great Hall as more people began exiting. Her face was still blank, but she was sure both people in her company would be able to tell she was waiting on a certain Ravenclaw to go through the doors. "Suppose we should go talk to Slughorn then, shouldn't we?" she added quietly after a group of Hufflepuffs passed. It appeared Irial wasn't leaving the Hall just yet.
Irial raised an eyebrow at the little Weasley. Hadn't she just heard what he'd said? Or, at least she knew his father had worked on the law? "Like I said, my father can get the paperwork pushed through in about a month or so," he repeated himself lazily. He was getting quite bored with the situation now; his eyes travelled over to the door as a group of distraught Hufflepuffs disappeared through it. He figured it'd be a good idea to look for Adriane, though it'd also be rude just to leave the girl he was currently speaking with. He had enough manners to be at least somewhat polite to even a Weasley. "So we fill out the work, send it in, and wait. Not much to do together or seperate, really." He shrugged, redirecting his gaze on the red head.
(( OoC: Hey guys, my internet kind of...exploded. I'm on a friends computer now, and I'll be able to get on over this weekend, but after that it'll be about another two weeks before I can get back on. Just, try to go along the best you can without me and I'll be back ASAP. Fight, fall in love...or try not to. (: ))

Agyness nodded slowly, eyeing those that came pouring forth from the Great Hall. Some people seemed so happy, clinging to their matches as each wore an identical grin, while others seemed mortified, looking as if they wished to sink into the deepest pit of quicksand that they could find, and fast. "I think I saw Slughorn mulling about the greenhouses earlier," She remarked, almost to herself as she thought. "You could try there. But as for me, I need to find Professor Flitwick." She pursed her lips. Where could her Head of Ravenclaw House be? On Saturday mornings, he usually spent his time in the library, chatting up Madam Pince. "Tell me if you make any progress," She spoke before turning and disappearing into the crowd of students, a few clearing a path for her as they saw that Agyness was not to be messed with at the moment.
Aleksa nodded. People were starting to pour out of the Great Hall but the noise level was still high. She felt sorry for the Heads of Houses. There was a mad rush to find them and then the paper explosion that would follow would almost be funny. Almost.
"Yeah. The common rooms will most likely be flooded. How about out by the lake?" Everyone else seemed to be focused on Harry and Ginny or rather there disaster of Pairings. Ginny was off in a corner dealing with Irial. She could tell by her friends body language that their conversation wasn't a good one. Leksa didn't like him all that much, he was a little more arrogant then she could handle. She didn't really expect anything different from someone who dated a Malfoy. That whole family and every family like them felt that they were entitled to anything and everything. She was going to laugh when they found out that the red tape wasn't as easy to cut as they thought.
Shaking her head, Aleksa turned back to Theo and held out her hand. "Shall we?" Despite her best efforts, she blushed. She couldn't remember the last time she had actually blushed. She never got nervous around guys. Never. Now all the sudden she had turned uncertain and shy? Perfect.
Ginny gave Irial an exasperated look. Did he really think he could just fling out his name and everything would right itself? Well, that did seem to be the attitude of all the so called higher class families. She just couldn't believe they were being so arrogant. She couldn't even stand to look at him anymore.
The Ministry did something wrong when they created that hat. The bloody thing was wrong. She couldn't stand arrogance it was right up there with jealousy on her list of things she found aggravating and unattractive. Irial was quickly becoming one of her least favorite people.
Rounding on him, she unleashed the full breadth of her aggravation and frustration. Placing her hands on her hips, Ginny gave him a hard stare. "Fine." She growled. "You Deal with it. You go and throw around your name like your some big shot. Call daddy and tell him to make everything go away." Flipping her red hair out of her face, she rolled her eyes. "Get Daddy involved and throw around that arrogant I'm-entitled-to-everything smile. See where it gets ya. When that doesn't work you know where to find me." With that she turned on her heel and left the Hall. Her head was held high and she walked with a grace that would have made her mother proud.
She was a Weasley after all. There wasn't anything that she couldn't handle. Especially an arrogant, egotistical self entitled idiot that Fate had decided to throw at her. Blast them!
Theo nodded as Aleska suggested the lake. It was a good idea. He could just imagine now that the common rooms were just as crazy as the Great Hall. Mabye even more so since the Great Hall was much larger.
He looked around at everything that was going on. He was not pleased with what all was happening but when he thought about it he figured that he had it pretty good. He had Aleska and fortunately she was a good person to be paired with. However he felt horrible for the people like Harry and Ginny. Especially Harry and Ginny. He could just imagne what they were going though. Actually he was going through the same thing, but mabye it didn't seem as dramatic since Reagan did not even attempt to salvage any relation that they had had. Harry and Ginny though were fighting for it. He looked up to both of them for that.
He accepted Aleska's hand and gave her as smile as they headed out of the doors. Theodore noticed her blush but he pretended not to. He knew Aleska, and he knew that she would not appreciate him mentioning it so he didn't. As they made it out to the lake he reluctintly let go of her hand and sat down near the waters edge. He hadn't realized how much he had actually enjoyed physically touching her. Before she had been asleep on his shoulder and then he had her hand. Now that Aleska's touch was no longer present he felt more alone. But that was crazy, he reminded himself. "What are we going to do?" He finally asked her. "What do you want to do?" He corrected himself.
