Depressing title for a depressing start to an RPG that will possibly end depressingly.

Many people are aquainted somewhat with the P&P series as it's affectionately come to be known.

This takes place after the RPG "Love, Lust, Life and Death".

Professor Severus Snape has been set to Azkaban for the murder of Darrin Fletcher. He intended to kill the man after he caught him abusing his lover, Marcella Riddle, daughter to the Dark Lord. However, the boy, under the control of Voldemort, defied death and kept returning to life to haunt them.

In the end it was Voldemort who killed Darrin as he heroically fought off the posession of the Dark Lord and died in the process.

But, because Marcella and Darrin were the only people present at this, there is no evidence to suggest Voldemort killed Darrin, other than Marcella's word. So Snape has gone to Azkaban for the original murder of the student.

Darrin came to Hogwarts following the Durmstrang Massacre and it was about this time that he became posessed by lord Voldemort who had learnt of his daughter;s whereabouts, of Snape's double-dealings and of the affair between his daughter and traitorous servant.

The RPG opens in Norway, where Snape and Marcella first met in the RPG "Light met the Dark and Shone". Snape owned a cottage there and was instructed to take care of the girl - keep her safe from her father. In doing so, a bond formed and they grew to love and depend upon each other.

In "Parseltongue and Purebloods" Marcella temporarily took her father's orders and forgot Severus. However, part way through their love was re-united. This was also when Kristi Snape was introduced to the story. In the beginning not many knew of who her father was, but at this point in time, most characters know (apart from those will be relative stranegrs to them). She was a loner and spied on Marcella amongst other students, for her father, who did not want her mingling with them.

Her mother died, somewhat mysteriously and no-one knows exactly how. Snape never was fond of his daughter, he saw it more as his duty to take care of her but throughout the series they have grown closer.

Another character that is present is Nicholas Lestrange, half-brother to Marcella, his mother is bellatrix, his father, Voldemort. At the end of the last RPG he was somewhat dating Kristi and had agreed to move to Norway with his sister and girlfriend.

Kristi, Marcella and Nick are all 18 and have finished school. Under Dumbledore's instruction they must be monitored at all times whilst in Norway. Aurors and Neighbours surround them and, in the beginning, they get on with their lives, each forgetting their horrible pasts. But, eventually, they come back to haunt them when a mass breakout in Azkaban occurs and Snape is taken prisoner by Voldemort. He then uses him to lure Marcella and the others (including the order and Dumbledore) to him, which is when he reveals all he knows about their affair and sets out his plan to punish all who have stod in his path.

She allowed his second attempt to kiss her and even laid ashaky hand on his shoulder, kissing him shortly in return. "I'm not..." she replied, giving off a nervous, verging on deranged laugh.

"So am I." he replied stubbornly, still refusing to face her. "You can keep the ring if you want, to remember the occassion," he snorted, feeling a sensation creep up the back of his throat that almost made him feel like crying.

Kristi glanced around the room, noting Tonks and Dumbledore off in one corner and the guards by the door. But, she didn't care, they could think whatever they wanted. She closed the box and placed it down on the bench beside her and then turned to face Nick's back. She put one hand on her hip and used the other hand to smack Nick on the side of the head. "You are such a schmuck."

"I should have known," he whispered, running his thumb along her cheek. "I wish I could be there for you but, isn't there anyone else you can turn to?"

Tonks heard the unmistakable sound of a slap, turning in time to see a rather annoyed Kristi calling Nick a schmuck. Much as she should be concerned, she couldn't help but laugh. Clearly Nick was sulking again. She giggled, quickly supressing the sound and trying to clear her face.

"Owww!" he howled, emphasising on the pain in his scream. "That hurt!" he bellowed, turning to face her, snatching the box back up, checking its contents before shoving it in his pocket again. "What's a schmuck anyways? Whatever it is, I'm not one!"

"Anyone else? What do you mean? I've got Dumbledore for financial support. Tonks is there as a woman who can empathise. Kristi and Nick are there to help and well, Black and Lupin I'm sure they'll find some way of providing help but that's not important. I shouldn't have to settle for second best and neither should this child. I don't know what I exoected you to say, but I feel like I've been given a life sentence that I neither wanted nor asked for. I'd rather stay here with you than go back to that messed up family in Norway." she replied, looping her arm with his, cuddling into him.

"You are so... It means jerk, by the way... I apologize for being stupid and telling you what Snape said when it doesn't really matter at all and doesn't affect my decisions then, you go and throw a temper tantrum," she said, trying very hard not raise her voice. "You are unbelievable."

Kristi sighed, crossed her arms, and leaned against the wall. She closed her eyes and concentrated on breathing in an attempt to ignore the lump in her throat. She was so angry with Snape for not being able to trust her judgement when it came to Nick. She was so angry with Nick for tossing out that box and then, taking it back... like he was tempting her with something she hadn't even known she wanted just to tease her. And she was angry with herself for allowing herself to get all emotionally wrapped up in this.

He stroked her hair and closed his eyes, soaking up her presence while he could. "I would love nothing more (except to be released) than for you to stay here with me. But, it is not possible and would not be fair," he said.

"Kristi?" he asked, poking her shoulder first and then peering into her face, his lips centimeteres from her cheek. He blew softly at her closed eyes. "Kristi...I'm sorry."

Taking the box from his pocket, he opened it with his mouth and gently slipped the ring onto the fourth finger of her left hand.

"And this is fair?" she asked, incredulously, perhaps a little harsher than she should've. Recognising this, she sighed and brought her hand to her own face in worry. "I don't know if I can do this much longer. I'm no longer alive on the inside yet I still have this body on the outside. Some nights I go to bed hoping I don't wake up in the morning."

She knew he was there. She felt his breath on her cheek and then the movement of air across her closed eyes. Then, she felt something being slipped onto her finger. Kristi sniffed and opened her watery eyes. "Me, too," she said, quietly, afraid that if she spoke too loudly the tears would fall.

"No, none of this is fair but, a child deserves to live in the light. And as much as you don't want your exsistance to go on, the child at least deserves a mother, if not a mother and a father," he replied, thinking back to the time when he was bringing Kristi back to the castle with him after Faith's death. He hadn't wanted the child; he wanted to be left alone to die.

"Come here," he told her, pulling her into him, supporting her with his hand on her back.

"Wouldn't it be less cruel not to even bring the poor thing into the world? I just can't bear this, I'm sorry but I can't..." she sighed, looking down at the floor once more, feeling like one big disappointment.

"I'm glad you came," she whispered, clinging to him after he pulled her close.

"That is your choice to make," he said, slipping down onto the floor in front of her and embracing her. "If that is what you choose, Kristi can do it safely for you."

"No, I could never do that." she said, shaking her head in a final manner. "I just couldn't live with myself if I did. I guess it's like you said. This is about the child now, not me. And however much I may want an easy way out, I can't have one because that's selfish. Besides, it's not right for you to suffer and I live in happiness." she shrugged, gloomily. "Do me a favour and hold me."

Snape gladly obeyed her request, slipping back on the bed beside her and wrapping his arms around her. "You don't need to suffer for me, Marcella. I deserve whatever sufferring I experience but, you've done nothing to deserve this," he said, casting a glance at the door and wondering how much time they had left.

Smiling, Tonks turned back to the window, meeting Dumbledore's eyes as she turned. Even her shock could not overcome her pleasure at seeing them so happy, although somehow she could not see them lasting. They were so young, and seemed to clash so much when it came to their personalities. Tonks sighed, shaking her head. What was wrong with her? She'd never know herself to be so negative. It must be this place, she thought, leaning against the window.

"Hello, Poppy, sorry I haven't come to greet you sooner, but I was busy getting the others off to Azkaban Prison. So tell me how is Moody doing? He's not giving you too much trouble is he?"

Poppy started, having almost run into Sirius. 'Well well,' she said smiling, 'where there's one, there's sure to be the other.' She paused her eyes twinkling with good humour. 'He's behaving himself, although that's not surprising. He always was the well behaved one.' She met Sirius' eyes, smiling. 'Now, go and make sure he stays in bed,' she continued briskly, patting him on the back as she moved of down the stairs to the kitchen.

Sirius kisses Poppy on the cheek. He kind of likes her calling him the naughty one. "Yes mam, anything else I can do for you?" he asks smiling as he heads into Remus's room.

Remus raised his gaze to sense that Pompfrey had bumped into someone, and the voice coming from there gave Sirius in. He just sighed and listened to their conversation, which was something he couldn't help from that position - they were stading in the doorway to his room after all. He almost had to laugh at Poppy's statement. Not one without the other... he thought at this minute that would be quite difficult unless all of them joined James. Then again, Sirius might take care of at least one of them, be it either be Peter or himself... Nevermind that now, Sirius was entering the room and Remus didn't want to look so blue.

"Sirius. Been doin' - good -" he chocked on his question once he tried to speak since his throat was so dry after that nasty potion, it quickly turning into a coughing fit. He tried to stop it since the movement was making his barely-improving ribs-situation ever more painful, but the darned coughing wouldn't cease.

The reminder of what was to come made her eyes flicker momentarily to the door. Hearing no footsteps approaching just yet, she turned her head back toward him. Rather desparately, she kissed him back, her finger tips digging into his shoulder slightly as she held onto the robe tightly, refusing to let go.

He received her desperate kiss and returned it just as hungrily, losing himself as he always did in Marcella's embrace. To be free of this prison and back in Norway with her as they had been just a few short years ago... Snape shoved these thoughts aside as he put his full concentration on Marcella and enjoying this moment, however brief it might be.
