Harry tried to pull Ginny along, but she dug in her feet and wouldn't move. "No, Harry," she shook her hand loose and put both hands on her hips. She was in full Weasley temper, her color high and her red hair almost seeming to stand out a bit in her anger. "So there is something to tell? Get on with it. Whatever you say, Luna can hear it too. I can't possibly think of anything that you have to tell me that is worth these dramatics if my family is well." Her face lost the anger, and she reached out to grasp Harry's hands. Pulling him close to her, she looked up at him, her brown eyes huge. "Please, Harry... you're scaring me."

BG 06-20-2004 04:51 AM

"Ginny..." He could not tell her now. He was panicking, "Can... uh..." He took a deep breath. He was actually on the verge of telling her. He decided this was on of those things that could just be quick and painless... if Ginny would let it be.

He took another deep breath, and after openeing his mouth numerous time to speak, he heard himself say, "I'm getting married, Ginny."

Cassirin 06-20-2004 05:20 AM

Ginny stared at Harry for a few moments, then felt her head nodding. She was back in her body, back in control. She was hurt, no doubt. A small part of her had always thought that one day she and Harry would... but no, she had been over Harry since her fourth year. She HAD! She was! So... why did this hurt so much?

She trembled and felt a sob rising in her throat. Pushing it down and replacing her confusion and loss with anger, Ginny hit Harry on the arm. It wasn't hard, but it was a hit nonetheless. "What's this? You think poor baby Ginny can't handle such excitement or she'll keel over and die." Tears of frustration rose in her eyes. "You don't have to protect me, Harry. You're not my brother, and if you were, you'd care more about my feelings than that."

BG 06-20-2004 05:31 AM

You're not a brother Harry... you'd care more about my feelings than that... Harry's stomach twisted when these words came out of Ginny's mouth. He felt warmth in his eyes, but quickly blinked it away. There was no way of telling her now that the only reason he hadn't told her was because he was afraid she'd react like this.

"Ginny..." He said with a lump in his throat, feeling as if he could be sick right there, "I..." He didn't finish his sentence, though, and looked at the floor.

Cassirin 06-20-2004 05:50 AM

Ginny saw Harry take a breath and swallow back a tear at her words. She wanted so much to reach out and take him in her arms, to stroke his messy hair, but that was another woman's job now. She was just the little sister who wasn't important enough or mature enough to handle his happy news. It wouldn't surprise her if everyone knew but her... and if some of those people hadn't been laughing at her unknowing ignorance.

"I'm not going to feel sorry," Ginny told herself in a low voice. "I'm not the one keeping secrets, so I'm not the one who's going to be made to feel bad," she said a bit louder this time. "Luna, let's go," Ginny picked up her trunk and hefted it into a more comfortable position. "Diagon Alley?" she asked her friend.

Neville was behind the counter at his job when an owl appeared outside the shop's window. He walked over and opened the window and the messenger flew inside. He untied the note and read George's message. "oh my tea, that would be great," he said to his cactus. He quickly wrote out an acceptance note and sent it back with the owl that brought him the note. Neville went back to the counter noticing the increase of students who had been showing up in Diagon Alley. "Term must have ended," he noted quietly while picking up some never ending ivy plants and repotting them.

Elizabeth was getting ready to go with Harry to pick up Ginny when she looked outside to see him Apparating in the back garden. She was surprised that he didn't wait for her and Hermione, but a little bit relieved as well. Elizabeth had never met Ginny, and Harry always went a little bit strange when she had tried to talk to him about her. She guessed that maybe something had been going on between them when they were at school. She took a mental note to ask Hermione about it later.

She heard the sound of boiling water and walked to the kitchen to see what was going on. Ron was standing beside a large pot of pasta.

"Why'd Harry go by himself to pick up Ginny?" she asked Ron.

Biochemkris 06-20-2004 12:36 PM

Luna stood silent as she listened to the exchange between Harry and Ginny. She couldn't figure out why they were so upset and she shrugged to herself, afterall, it really wasn't any of her business. However, she perked up at the sound of her name. "Hmmm?" she said, coming back to reality. "Oh, you don't want to go back home, first?"

The look on Ginny's face was all Luna needed to go wave her wand behind her to levitate her trunk and start heading for the barrier. "Alright, then," she said. "Is he coming with us?"

BG 06-20-2004 04:45 PM

"Ginny..." Harry reached out and grabbed her arm. "This isn't the type of thing you tell someone through a letter!" But he knew inside himself that wasn't really the reason he had waited so long to tell her.

"Please..." He said, "Don't leave, come back to the Burrow, we can talk about it..." He puased, then said, "I'm sorry, Ginny..." He could not stand to see her leave, whether she felt the same way back or not, Ginny was like a sister.

Hermione caught up wth Elizabeth in the kitchen and said, "Well, I'm assuming he felt some responsibility to pick her up on time, I mean..." She stopped, "After all, he doesn't have good news to tell her so he has to feel god about something..."

"What are you making, Ron?" She asked, walking over to him.

Poirot 06-20-2004 05:22 PM

Determined with his cooking, Ron was distracted when he heard footsteps behind him. He said instantly, “I’m not going.” He turned and found the owner of the noise was Elizabeth. He smiled and asked what she wants.

“Why'd Harry go by himself to pick up Ginny?”

He was busy cutting some garlic on the chop board that he answered Elizabeth’s question with a small faint shrug. He added, “I don’t know. He said you two… urm…“ -- he put the chopped garlic in the pan -- “spending a lot of time preparing…” He lowered the heat temperature of the stove; then went back to the working table, chopping some mushrooms. “I didn’t go with him because, as you see, I’m busy making dinner.”

He heard another set of footsteps. He knew it was Hermione’s. He heard her asking him a question. He answered it hastily, “I'm making Conchiglie and Capellini.”

He walked towards Hermione, leaving his work, and gave her a somber expression. He gazed at their faces, telling them, “Advice? Hermione better help Harry at King’s Cross. He might need help.” He grinned and strolled away, humming. “Um… Elizabeth? Can you help me?”

He didn’t want Ginny to meet Elizabeth. Not now. Ginny might do a imprudent things. Who knows? He stretched his hands and went back to his labor.

BG 06-20-2004 07:26 PM

"No, you know, Ron, I think this is something Harry has to do alone," Hermione said, watching him, "He's a big boy, i think he can handle it." She added, "And you know, if Ginny is really upset, not one of us will be able to stop her."

She walked over to the cupbpards and started to get out plates, glasses, and silverware, and began to set the table, wondering when Harry would be back.

Poirot 06-21-2004 01:03 AM

There was a long silence occurred after Hermione’s testimonial. Ron didn’t know what to say because Hermione was right. She was always right. Being a clever lady and all. That was the basis he liked her; that was the reason why sometimes he hated her. He scowled at Hermione while leaving them and approached his pasta.

He looked down at the boiling pot of pasta, preoccupied about what his girl-best friend had said. She was right, he thought, if Harry can defeat Death Eaters and all he should handle this situation by himself. He bit his lip, smelling something aflame.

It was his pasta! He ran his hands down at the knob of the stove, trying turn off the heat. Instead, he felt his left hand on fire. He gasped and used his right hand to switch the range off. He ran towards the sink and used cold water to mend his smoldered hand.

Taking Back Kirstie 06-21-2004 01:07 AM

"Are you alright Ron? Do you want me to go get some burn cream?" Elizabeth said, Startled by the sudden combustion of the pot of pasta, and Ron's consequent injury. Being an Auror, Elizabeth was well trained in healing.

BG 06-21-2004 01:09 AM

"Ron!" Hermione shouted, dropping a bunch of silverware and running over to him at the sink, "What happened?!?" She turned off the water and grabbed his hand gently, "I read about burns, you aren't supposed to put them under cold water..." She said. "There's some medicine you can make, but, oh, I don't think there's the stuff here for it. Are you alright?"

Taking Back Kirstie 06-21-2004 01:41 AM

Elizabeth ran into the other room, where her bag was. She started diggin through the pockets and surfaced with a tube that said "Burn Paste" on the side. Elizabeth was always ready for the smallest emergency, a trait that served her well in her chosen line of work. She ran with the tube back into the kitchen and handed it to Ron

Dobby had finished his purchase of several new pairs of trousers for George. "Thank you sirs," he said while bowing lowly as he left the store. The merchant at the store kept trying to get him to take the matching socks to each of the three socks that he had also bought. "No sirs, thanks you, Dobby can'ts understand why you sirs are trying to sell me matched socks," he lifted his own uniform style tea cozy to reveal one brilliant green sock with candlesticks on it and a sparkling silver one that sent real sparkles out everytime he took a step. Dobby liked his socks for it was with a sock that he gained his freedom from the Malfoy Family.

On the way back to the Weasley's Joke shop, he passed the Garden Shop and noticed Neville through the window watering some type of biting plant. He opened the door and asked permission to enter.

Poirot 06-21-2004 02:04 AM

Ron gasped for air when Hermione touched his hand. “Oww… Hermione, I’m going to be all right. If you didn’t touched my hand,” he said, a little bit irritated. He looked own on his scorched hand. First-degree burn? He groaned.

He wanted to yell out the pain, but he could not. His vocal cords were tied up. It was like someone united his cords together. His hair from his back stood up as if he saw something scary. His face became all sweaty. Tears came out of his eyes; droplets of tears that flowed down to his chin.

He saw Elizabeth ran out of the room, and went back with a tube on her hand. She handed it to him, which he accepted cordially, using his right hand. He pressed the tube harder, causing some paste flying around. He looked at the girls, “Um… ca-can some-ome-someone h-help me-e?” His voice was tired and hoarse.

BG 06-21-2004 02:19 AM

Hermione hurriedly grabbed the tube of burn cream, "Oh, Ron..." She squeezed some out of the tube, and as gently as she could put the cream on the parts of his hand that were burnt.

She looked up at him with a frown, "You should really be more careful, Ron, you scared me." She grabbed a dish towel from the counter and put it under Ron's hand and lead him over to the table to sit down.

Taking Back Kirstie 06-21-2004 02:33 AM

Elizabeth, feeling a bit silly all of a sudden because she had handed the cream to Ron instead of putting it on herself. She just thought that Hermione should do it. After Ron's hand was creamed and wrapped up, she turned her attention to the stove, and the burnt pasta. With a wave of her wand she emptied out the pot, cleaned it and added a fresh lot of pasta, re-lit the stove, and set the water boiling again.

"Ron, I can finish making this, if you want to go lie down"

Poirot 06-21-2004 02:44 AM

Ron sat down on the chair he sat on earlier. His hand was resting on a towel, which Hermione carried for him. He took a deep breathe because of the sudden hubbub occurred. Not merely he was the injured party he was the root too. How stupid I am, he decided.

He looked at the scalded pan filled with black - - instead of red - - pasta. He heaved a long weary sigh. “What should I do?” he asked himself. While looking at his hand, he heard Elizabeth asking him about the food. He nodded, agree that she could take over and finish the work.

He added, “But I’ll stay here and watch.” He looked sturdy and serious on what he said. “I-I’ll watch.”

BG 06-21-2004 02:57 AM

Hermione fussed about, getting Ron a glass of water, "Now, are you okay, you don't feel faint or anything do you?" Even she had no idea what feeling faint would have to do with getting burnt, except for maybe the pain.

She went over to the table and sat down beside him with the glass of water and pushed it over to him.

"Dobby," Neville said at the house elf's request to enter, "of course you can come in." Neville set down his water can and came around the plant stand to look at the elf. Dobby bowed deeply and smiled up at him. "Dobby, what's in the bag, been doing a bit of shopping?" The house elf opend his bag and took each of his new purchases out one at a time in a sort of fashion show style holding them up as if to try them on. Neville laughed at this since each of George's legs would make two of Dobby's. "Thoses are, um.....very nice Dobby, can I get you some tea?" The house elf explaind that he had to get the trousers back to George so he didn't have to run around showing off his blue polka-dotted legs.

"Okay Dobby, but stop by anytime," Neville said waving and the house elf gave a deep bow and turned, exiting the shop.

Elizabeth, after hearing Ron's agreement that she could continue, turned the stove up a bit and watched as the pasta began to boil. She set the oven timer to 12 minutes, and went to the Cupboard to get an onion and some tomatoes. She grabbed out the chopping board and the knife, and started to chop up the onion, trying not to let the fumes make her cry

Poirot 06-21-2004 03:12 AM

Ron gazed around the room. His eyes blinked every second, trying to focus on the object which was located at the far corner of the room. He narrowed his eyes to see it was a human. He gasped and jumped from his chair. He was wrong. It was a wooden coat hanger. He rubbed his eyes using his right hand.

He used his head - - nodding and shaking - - to answer Hermione’s inquiries. He rested his head on the table, feeling exhausted. His energy all drained out by the incident.

BG 06-21-2004 03:24 AM

Hermione looked over Ron with concern, "Ron... why don't you go lie down? You don't look too well, and you're obviously tired..." She said, she was always worrying like this over Ron.

"I'll take you into the livingroom and you can lay on the couch..."
