Hufflepuff Common RoomThe entrance to the common room is located "in a nook on the right hand side of the kitchen corridor", concealed behind a stack of barrels.
Once you’ve entered through the barrels, you are welcomed into the warmth of the Hufflepuff common room. Sunlight beams through the sunroof at the center, where pots of plants hang above the couches below. The room radiates comfort, with reclining chairs and armchairs spaced about, ideal for relaxing beneath the daylight or gazing at the starry skies in the evening beside the lit furnace. Stairs lead off toward your appropriately assigned dorm with a balcony to overlook from.
Plants are not only hung from the ceiling but also placed throughout the space, tended by charmed watering cans that keep them thriving and breathing fresh air into the room. Bookshelves and small tables sit in the corners, perfect for studying, a quick game of wizard’s chess, or trading cards with friends.
The noticeboard is located in a central location on one of the walls, and it is updated frequently with information about upcoming lessons, homework due dates, and the variety of activities and events available to participate in. Next to the noticeboard is the house pride moodboard that your fellow Hufflepuffs contributed to during the previous school year.

The architecture completes the atmosphere: curved wooden pillars carved with refined shapes, walls shifting between brick, soft yellow paint, and stained glass, all blending with the soft yellow tiles underfoot. Decorative rugs tie it all together, making the common room a place of warmth, welcome, and unmistakable Hufflepuff character.

Aurora Rory Archer was PUMPED to be back at Hogwarts. She had soaked up every single moment of the summer holidays with her family, alternating between attaching herself like a barnacle to her parents and Ascella, who she had missed SO MUCH, and to Astrid and Aslan, who she was going to miss so much. How was it possible that she was suddenly the eldest Archer child attending Hogwarts?! She didn’t feel old enough to be the oldest anything, honestly. They weren’t going to expect her to set an example now, were they? That didn’t sound like much fun… Though, admittedly, Cella had done it really well without trying.
Anyway. Back to Hogwarts. It was wonderful to be back at Hogwarts! Something exciting was always happening and she was certain, if she hung in the Common Room, something or someone interesting would come along. Her bar truly wasn’t high - she found everyone interesting it their own ways!
So there Rory lounged, waiting for someone to come along...

Ariadne had mixed emotions about being back at Hogwarts. One part was happy, and excited for a new year of classes and adventures. The other part was sad, and anxious since it was her last year at the school. What was she going to do after she graduated? Play pro gobstones and go to university? The eldest Rose child wasn't sure just yet, luckily she had some months to figure it out.
Entering the common room after the feast with her arms full of candy and snacks Ariadne wasn't exactly looking where she was going, tripped over her own two feet just inside the door, fell forwards and landed with a smack, face first on the floor. The candy rolled away, along with the snacks in every direction on the floor.

The candy rolled away, along with the snacks in every direction on the floor.
Following the feast, Hufflepuffs began to trickle, one by one, two by two, into the common room. Rory greeted them all with a big grin and friendly questions but, secretly, she was starting to wonder if anything truly exciting was going to happen. You know, beyond the norm. And she loved the norm, don't get her wrong!
With her legs hanging over the side of an armchair, swinging, she gazed towards the entrance and waited...
It was then that an older girl - Ariadne, was it? - came in with her arms full of sweets. Now this was what Rory considered interesting and exciting! She sat up straighter, about to make some comment or another, when the girl and her bounty went flying. FLYING. This was not what she meant! Let the record show! This was not what she meant by interesting and exciting! "Are you okay???" Rory manoeuvred her legs round the right way and darted over to the older girl, crouching down to sweep whatever sweets she could back towards her housemates with her outstretched arms, all the while keeping her eyes on Ariadne.
Peeves lived for chaos! It was the poltergeist's good fortune to appear at the moment (Ariadne) tripped. He was there for the candy rolling in every direction. He was there to let out a hearty laugh of infinite glee.
*CACKLECACKLE*
“Oh, what a tragic, sugary crime!” He soared into the air. Then Peeves being Peeves, proceeded to divebomb the students. “WHEEEEEEEEE!” Duck and cover, everyone!
Peeves snatched some candy up, soared into the air. Now he began hurling the candy at the nearest studentsies. He started with (Aurora).

Ariadne first felt the ache in the chin she landed on which probably meant a bruise, then heard Rory's worried voice, and then Peeves the cackling poltergeist appeared like a prompt delivery owl. Pulling herself up into a sitting stance on the floor she said to her housemate showing compassion. "Hi Rory, I'm okay. I just landed on my cheek." Before she could say or do much more than touch her aching cheek Peeves started what he usually did to cause chaos, which was to divebomb people with what was available, and in this case it was with her candy.
"Rory, take cover! Peeves is armed with candy." Ariadne cried out as she herself tried to scramble on her hands and knees over to the nearest yellow sofa to find cover from incoming candy. If they were lucky Peeves would pelt a few of them with candy, and then dissappear to find someone else to bother, somewhere else in the castle.

Rory continued to gather the scattered sweets, pushing them towards Ariadne, and her eyes fell upon a red mark on her face. "You sure?" It probably wasn't a Healer-worthy injury, but it didn't hurt to double check. "Do you w-" Her question was cut short by the sound of Peeves' cackles filling the common room.
Now this was exciting!
With her back to the poltergeist, she was unable to see exactly where he was or what he was doing. But one cockroach cluster to the back of the head and a toffee in her hair later and it became abundantly clear what he was doing. Take cover indeed! "Peeeeeeeeves!" Rory grinned as she dove for cover behind the armchair she had earlier been lounging on. Despite the chaos and the potential for sweet-related bruises, she found this thrilling. Nothing wrong with a bit of no-harm-done fun, right? "Catch, Ariadne!" Rory tossed a cushion, haphazardly pulled off the armchair, in the direction of the seventh year.
Hearing the uncertainty in Rory's voice made Ariadne raise her hand to touch her aching cheek again. Drawing her hand away some moments later she gathered at least that she wasn't bleeding, always a plus, but she had to look in a mirror for certain. Ariadne didn't know what Rory was going to ask, but the fourth year probably saw the state of her cheek unlike she herself did.
Ariadne managed to scramble to cover before she got any candy pelted at her. She watched how Rory though took one to the back of the head and one in her hair from Peeves. So much for shouting take cover. Hearing Rory's shout Ariadne rose from her hiding place to catch the cushion. "Thanks, you should take a cushion for yourself too Rory." She made to duck down behind the sofa again when she got a few fizzing whizzbees pelted right at her face.
It meant nothing to the wicked poltergeist that (Ariadne) may have injured himself. Not when candy continued to rain down thanks to his swiftness in snatching them up before pelting them at random. “Hiding will get you nowhere! WHEEEEEEE!”
Take this! And that! Peeves was not through with having his fun yet!
“That’s MEEEEEEE!” His eyes gleamed in the direction of (Aurora).
Peeve dipped towards the ground. When he rose in the air once more there was a pack of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Bean in his hands. “There’s no hiding from Peevesie!” Cushions or not, they would be attacked. Some of the beans were now free of the packet. The girls’ fates were to have the beans chucked at them.
What fun! For him!

Rory's grin turned into a wince at the sight of Fizzing Whizzbees hitting Ariadne in the face. As if she hadn’t been hurt enough from the initial fall. Maybe it wasn't so harmless after all, she thought, casting a reproachful look towards Peeves. "Uhh…" She peeked over the top of the armchair, looking for another cushion after the older girl suggested it. She had thrown the closest one over to Ariadne. The next closest was on the sofa diagonal to the armchair. She would need to expose herself to Peeves’ onslaught to grab it. But if she didn’t, she would be completely undefended if he chose to float behind the furniture they were hiding behind.
A lose, lose situation. Peeves’ favourite kind.
As quickly as she could, she darted over to the sofa, grabbed the cushion, held it up to block the jellybeans that were flying through the air, and nipped back behind the armchair. She had taken beans to the side of her head, her shoulder and, somehow, her ankle, but all in all, nothing that would leave a mark. She called over to Ariadne again. "The way I see it, we have three options. We could make a run for it, maybe try to get to our dorm rooms." Though there were plenty of other innocent victims he could target, and new ones entering the common room who were being caught completely unawares. "We could try waiting him out. Maybe he’ll get bored if we don’t give him much of a reaction. Or we could try to get rid of his... weapons."
Tap. Tap. Tap. Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans continued to rain down around them.
"Can you think of any spells that could help? Vanishing charm, maybe?" She made a face, clearly reluctant to say goodbye to the delicious treats. Not that they were hers. She felt bad on Ariadne’s behalf, obviously. Ahem. Though, would she really want sweets that had been all over the floor and thrown around by Peeves? Quite possibly not. They could always get some another time regardless.
“You’re no funsies!’’ Boohoo! Peeves preferred it when his prey fought back. These Hufflepuffs? B-O-R-I-N-G! Since they were too busy hiding. He could hear them talking, scheming to run away.
CHUCK!
CHUCK!
The last of the jellybeans were pelted in both of their directions.
Wait him out? What a lovely idea!
A wicked, wicked grin was in place as Peeves fell silent. More candy was scooped from the ground before he ducked out of sight. Behind a squashy armchair to be exact. Gleaming eyes poked around from behind it. If those girls so much as take one step out of their hiding spots…

Exhausted, Aurora made her way to the common room. It had been another eventful, busy day - just the way she liked it.
After a day full of lessons, she had spent a good amount of time working in the indoor garden, caring for all the plants that she had brought in at the start of term. She had also been working to add personal touches; a wind chime she had made, as well as a bunch of plant pots that she had decorated. She’d add more as term went on.
Every time she worked in the indoor garden, she missed Nyle. It wasn’t the same without him. But she did still want to tell him all about the progress her plants were making. One of the climbing plants had developed quite the tendril and she was excited to see how it continued to develop.
With a sigh, Aurora plopped onto one of the couches near the fire. She would just close her eyes for a moment and get a bit of rest.
