Which Professor Would You Like to be Taught by in Real Life?

Which Hogwarts professor have you always wished was your IRL teacher? Maybe it's their personality, or maybe it was their subject that really caught your eye. Vote in the poll and then let us know your choice and why you picked them!

So .... I voted for McGonagall cause I just love her demeanor and teaching style and think she's a super effective teacher (I was torn between her and Lupin lol)..... BUT I feel the need to add that there's another teacher I would love to have been taught by and it's one of the lesser known teachers/subjects.

Which is to say, Professor Vector. Aka Arithmancy. My legit favorite:blush: and I hate how little we really got to see it in the books other than subtle references from Hermione. *Sighs wistfully*

Out of the ones we encounter the most in the series, I think I'd really like Professor Sprout as a teacher. Herbology probably wouldn't be my favorite subject, but she doesn't seem like the type to hold that against me  She seems really friendly and attentive to all her students, and she obviously enjoys teaching her subject and helping her students learn, so I think I'd get along with her pretty well.

Professor Lupin! He's so gentle and understanding and patient. I think these traits come in handy for all students but especially in those situations where there are complicated topics. These complicated topics will require multiple explanations by the professor and I really think that Lupin would fit that role well. In addition, he's very knowledgeable and excellent at what he does.

This question was... insanely difficult to answer. There are SO many of them that I like and the points brought up by Jess and Brigette made sense and had me second guessing which one I would choose! But in the end, I have to agree on Remus Lupin! despite probably needing a sub once a month, I still think Lupin is one of the most qualified of the Professor's we've seen and one of the best teachers. Not to mention if you're having an off day, he'd probably give you chocolate. So really.. how is there another choice? :P

Though I will also admit, I would be VERY curious to see what Mad Eye Moody would have been like in an actual teaching position. No doubt he was very skilled and would have had a lot of great information to give students given his first hand experience with DADA, but I would have loved to see his personality with the students as well!

Jess, I'm curious what is it about Professor Vector that also draws you to them? :3

I was torn between McGonagall and Lupin, until I realized that McGonagall would probably find me to be the world's biggest headache student lol - she'd definitely call me out for talking to friends the entire lesson :lmao: I think my preference would be for someone who keeps class relatively structured, whilst still leaving a room so that things don't feel all too strict, which is what pushed me further in the Lupin direction.

But... I have to admit, it would be so cool to be taught by a celebrity, like Lockheart, even though he ended up being an entire sham at the end. I feel like classes with him would've been a nonstop laugh-fest. I probably would've learned absolutely nothing, but at least it'd make for some GREAT stories to tell people whilst chatting in the corridors

I, too, like Chellie, am quite curious to know what it is about Professor Vector that draws you in? Is it how he might be as a professor or is it more a question of the subject matter?

omg ;_; Professor Sprout! She really does seem super friendly and jovial (at least the movie depiction of her because I really do not remember how she's described in the books LOL). I feel like she'd be the type of professor who would make office hours super warm and welcoming with offers of tea and warm hugs. It's just the vibe I get.

I also picked Remus!!! It's clear how much he truly cares about his students and I feel like this is the year they learned the most in DADA while Harry was still in school :lmao: Not to mention how much personal experience he has with the subject!!! He was part of the Order of the Phoenix and, y'know, the lycanthropy thing also !!!

AND he just seemed to make class super fun and lively. I'm, personally, such a kinestic learner so to have someone make me stand up and practice on boggarts would make a WORLD of difference, vs sitting down and reading about them! Also he's v easy on the eyes  which would be a nice bonus heh

Ooooh omg, I'd also be very curious to see what Mad Eye would be like as a professor, if it were actually him! I thought about first hand experience when I decided to go with Remus, but you're absolutely right on Mad Eye having that too ! I feel like he might scare me a little bit, he seems like a 'tough love' kind of guy, but those ones are always the BIGGEST teddy bears at heart, I feel like

I think for Professor Vector, it's more the subject matter that I'm drawn to than the professor herself. Although I AM curious to see what the professor would be like, but I'm very much a factual person, and arithmancy from what I can tell, seems to have hard factual answers. When I was in school, math classes for me were one of those subjects I didn't really study for, because it was one of those "you either know it or you don't" .... I think of arithmancy in a similar fashion, whereas once you have the basic foundations, you probably can sort any problem no matter how complex. But I guess i'd be interested to see how Professor Vector approached teaching the subject, if my thoughts about it are correct or not :3

Ohh, yes, the REAL mad eye Moody i feel like would have been interesting to see as a professor. So I'm playing Hogwarts Mystery game and IDK if it's just me, but every time my character interacts with Moody, I'm always feeling super skeptical of Moody and I think it's related to the books/movies, but i'd definitely love to have seen his interactions with the students. We know he was a skilled auror, but that doesn't necessarily translated to a good teacher :xd:

Same! ^_^ I think he's the most balanced of the professors which I feel comfortable with.

I think this is a great point about having Lockhart as a professor! It probably would be fun to be in his classes. I know I always enjoy the scenes with him in the books and in the films. Definitely not likely to actually learn a ton, and I'm sure that would annoy me at the time, but I'm sure in hindsight I'd find it all hilarious

I was kinda going more off the movie depiction too tbh 'cause it's been awhile since I've done a reread of the books :xd: She's definitely got that warm and friendly vibe to her in my head too! A very pleasant person to be around.

So one of the things that interests me about Moody in book 4 being Barty Crouch Jr. in disguise is that...I think most of that probably is how Moody would be if he had been there? Crouch Jr. got away with portraying him for nearly a year, and no one, not even Dumbledore, found him out before the big reveal after Voldemort's return, so he must have been behaving pretty in-character for Moody if no one that knew him thought something was off. Unless I'm forgetting a scene where someone (besides Barty Crouch Sr., I guess?) thought Moody wasn't like himself? :hmm: Which is entirely possible because it has been quite awhile since I read it

I voted Lupin but forgot to explain my reasoning, oops. So I picked him because of all teachers I've respected the most in real life were those who weren't shy from connecting with the students one-on-one. Lupin (likely due to having been an outcast) knows just how to build up self-confidence in students without tearing them down. When I went to a private school and had trouble with math this one teacher had set up scheduled sessions outside of class for me to catch up and the private lessons Harry had with Lupin brought me back to that experience. Of course Harry learning the Patronus was a matter of life and death that can't be leveled with learning algebraic equations, I've no doubt my mathematical abilities would've been stuck behind if I didn't have a teacher that dedicated to helping and making me see I can push myself in a subject I'm not confident in.

Oh! About Professor Sprout, from the two ps1 video games I remember she was incredibly sweet and kind and very energetic with a voice like honey. Watching the Chamber of Secrets movie right after was a bit of a whiplash (but in a good way!) cause movie version of Sprout is much more cutthroat but hilarious (remember how she told Seamus to leave Neville who fainted on the floor nonchalantly). Herbology sounds like a hoot with her.

Speaking of, I wonder how Neville's teaching style is? Given his passion for Herbology and Lupin's kickstart into him being more self-confident in his youth (followed by McGonagall encouraging him to follow his strengths and interests over his Grandmother's desires) I think he would be an interesting mix of all. :hmm:
