Woman determined on Harry Potter ban strikes again

Laura Mallory, a mother from Georgia is determined to continue her efforts to have the Harry Potter books banned from school shelves, even after losing several rulings on this matter. News organisations reports that Ms Mallory has requested an appeal of her case to Gwinnett Superior Court.

Quote:

Mallory has said the books should be removed from all Gwinnett County public schools.
Quote:

The state board did not consider the merits of the books in making its decision. Instead, board members were asked to determine whether Gwinnett had properly handled Mallory's complaint. Without discussion, objection or comment, the members upheld the school system's procedure — much to Mallory's chagrin.

She is unbelievable...:gasp: ...I hope Potter wins again :P

This lady never quits does she? She is persistant, I will give her that much. I hope that this time however, she read the books before deciding to appeal. I don't understand her though, just becuase she doesn't "like" the books and doesn't want her children reading them doesn't mean that every parent feels the same way. Although I don't live in Georgia, I have several friends and family that have younger children, and they LOVE reading the stories together. This woman should think about that when she makes her appeal, and think about the fact that some people might not be able to afford to buy the books, so getting them out of the school library is the only way to read them. Oh well.

Well, that says pretty much all that I would like to point out here. Period.

i'm doing a report in school over people like this with the harry potter books and it said that (up til now) now that 97% of people who have tried to do this has lost. harry potter will live on forever.

can i just say that i love this woman...she seems to make less and less sense each time she tries to ban the books, and she provides us with entertainment and something to discuss

Agos* 01-18-2007 05:08 PM

I really don't know why she does this. People has it's different view, I know. I respect that. But it's just a book. And a lot of people just read because of a book like this. Kids who don't like to read, feel like doing it when they have an hp book in their hands. It doesn't seem right to take them away from schools.

Eclipsed 01-18-2007 05:24 PM

I respect her views, even if I don't agree with them. Hope HP wins against her again!

GanymedeCraft17 01-18-2007 05:29 PM

*shakes head*

yeah, I think she doesn't understand the books themselves. People are afraid and often hate things they do not understand. Hopefully, the majority will win.

Mrs Felton 01-18-2007 05:55 PM

I don't understand her.. You would have thought that after losing several times, she would've read the books. But instead she's just proving to us that she really deserved idiot of the year.

Beater0 01-18-2007 05:58 PM

I actually go to a private school where they have banned Harry Potter...but it doesn't matter, I own them all anyway :)

The school was worried that the books were teaching "witchcraft" or something, and that the younger students were going to try and do the spells...I don't know. But I say that anyone who reads the Harry Potter books and thinks that Hogwarts and "the boy who lived" really exist should be in a mental hospital, not a library.

BrigetteAlisia 01-18-2007 06:11 PM

why doesn't she just give up.....its a no win situation

lorlor57 01-18-2007 06:27 PM

omg would she just give it up already! it's so riddiculos. she needs to read the books for goodness sake! now it's just getting annoying, <_< HP better win again :harry:

D.A Forever 01-18-2007 06:32 PM

Why is she trying again? <_< I really dont think she's going to get a different answer.., I dont get why She even bothers.. i mean come on.. if she doesnt want her Kids to read them then that's her business! but its really none of her consern if other people let they're kids read them ..

I agree Agos, Thats what happened to me when i was little, i hated reading until HP

Hermione Malfoy 01-18-2007 06:36 PM

I really dont understand this woman. How can someone who never read the books judge them. All she knows is its about a wizard and she belives it promotes evil witchcraft. She needs to leave parenting up to the other parents. Let them decide what their children read not her.

TonksNymphadora 01-18-2007 07:17 PM

Is this lady for real? Books should never be banned. For any reason, even things that people don't agree with can be learned from. She shouldn't be so critical of things she obviously does not understand. Sorry I'm venting.

Everyone have a nice day.
:)

Ruxanda 01-18-2007 07:41 PM

This lady is outrageous! Who does she think she is to ban all kids from the region to read HP? Why doesn't she just read the books and chill?...

beautiful_tissy16 01-18-2007 07:45 PM

this woman's kids are being depribbed of the greatest book series EVER made!

starlightangel 01-18-2007 07:50 PM

I've said this once, and i'll say it again. Appologies if i offend anyones' views here.

Lady. Get yourself one of the books. Preferably the first. Open it. Read. You might learn something you complete fool.

Sweet Cass21 01-18-2007 08:09 PM

wow, this has got to be one of the saddest things, I mean how many appeals has this woman had and how many times have they turned her down. I seriously doubt this woman will ever get that throught that head of hers. She really should be ashamed of herself for banning something that has inspired young people to read

muggled 01-18-2007 08:14 PM

... didn't she win the Idiot Of The Year award for 2006?
-__- 'Nuff said. I'm not tryingt o be mean; I respect her opinion.. but after all that happened with her case last year (ie. LOSING), doesn't she get that it won't change anything?

HARRY LOVER#1 =) 01-18-2007 08:23 PM

well i will say one thing this woman doesnt give up does she? well i would of gave it up when she won idiot of the year but i gues shes just persistan thats normally a good thing but in this case its really not. i hope she goes down on guiness world records for the most idiotic woman ever.that would be really funny :lmao:

granger 01-18-2007 08:32 PM

That is crazy! I hope HP wins.

lullaby_mom 01-18-2007 08:34 PM

Seriously will she just shut up?
