This is pathetic! I meen teaching young children witchcraft? and to think they are going to try it? do they think it's real?! maybe the children might think it's real but there not going to go out and search for a wand or hippogriff's or potions are they?what a load of rubbish! maybe this woman has never seen her children read a book so much, maybe because it's good! I would of read the books before trying to flippin ban them!

~dragon_ruler~ 01-18-2007 09:03 PM

whats so bad about reading a book? why do some ppl make big fuss over something that isn't real?I mean,it's so stuped that she is geting so bent out of shape over something good read?

Hermionespell 01-18-2007 09:14 PM

Eh, I'm not quite so sure that I can respect Ms. Mallory's opinion, nonetheless I shall try. And, instead, I shall bash her with knowledge.
I'm very sorry if this offends anyone, but I'm just stating my opinion and the facts behind my opinion (in a rather disorganized manner).

Freedom. What does the USA stand for? Freedom. Sometimes I understand banning books, though I always disagree with banning literature, but this is an outrage. The arguments are old and stale and have mold growing on them. The arguments that these people make should be instantly thrown into the garbage. Well, on the off chance that someone who would like Harry Potter banned from schools/libraries comes here, I shall present my argument back.

First off, if you would rather your child did not read Harry Potter, send them to a private school or tell the teacher that you refuse to let your child read Harry Potter.
Secondly, don't try and ruin all the fun for everyone! Harry Potter has changed my life, and it will change the life of everyone who reads it. It is an amazing fantasy series, so if you don't like it, don't take it out on everyone else!
Thirdly, if this is another argument having to do with religion, just please stop. I beg you! This just isn't right. If you are so strictly religious that you won't let your child have an imagination, then maybe you shouldn't be sending your child to these schools and libraries. Plus, your child might as well not read any of the other fantasy and magic books that there are. You're saying that magic is against your religion? Well, what has that to do with HP? Yes, they practice magic in the books, but that doesn't mean that your child will suddenly up and start practicing magic as well. Reading does not make you "evil" or "dirtied", but it does make you more educated, happy, and broadened.

I will never understand how someone could have the nerve to be as horrible as this. :(

hphg 01-18-2007 09:27 PM

Honestly, lady, why will you fight back just because you think Harry Potter is evil (He is not)? You know you're going to lose again. I think she should just be quiet because Harry potter wins and it's a great series, and you can't stop people from reading it if they want to!

redandgold09 01-18-2007 09:48 PM

man, just another close minded catholic( I don't mean that the way it sounds because I am catholic too) I don't mean to be a prat about this but seriously if you put things into perspective like they should be you'd remember that this is a book( no matter how much everyone out here including me wishes that it was real seriously I do to) but really just live and let live, who knows maybe if she read them, maybe she'd like them, but I doubt that's going to happen it's just another story about a person that hasn't seen it from another person's point of view

UGG! She really needs to learn that she isn't going to win.

Sorry if I offend.

She is doing the absolute wrong thing. HP has helped so many people to read and get into running. I can't believe that she won't give this up and forget about it. She has lost so many times before. Hopefully HP will win again and this lady will shut up.

slythringurl04 01-18-2007 10:13 PM

wow...talk about persistent

hermione1994 01-18-2007 10:59 PM

Can't she just give it a rest, she's not even read the books!

Zoe 01-18-2007 11:14 PM

*Sighs* She never will give up, will she? Hope HP wins, which it will. Maybe Mallory will become 'Idiot of the Year' ... again!!!

luv16 01-18-2007 11:46 PM

Does anyone know how many times she has appealed so far?
She should just give it a rest....

tatewin 01-18-2007 11:57 PM

Thank God people like this woman don't rule the world!!!!!!

jkrsong96 01-19-2007 12:03 AM

This news is pathetic!
How can she do that?

IckleRonnyPrefectLuvrr 01-19-2007 12:38 AM

Hmm... I read somewhere that she said the JKR is telling children to go use witchcraft and everything but last time I checked the books never say "Hey children of the world! Go use witchcraft and worship the devil!! Muah ha ha!" Who knows...Maybe this time Laura Mallory will win Idiot of the Century.

ilovehermione244 01-19-2007 12:42 AM

She's soooo overreacting. It's just a little book. She can ban her kids from reading it, but she has no right to ban other kids from reading it. Living in such a controversial world, you would think she could get that through her skull.

McSainty 01-19-2007 12:56 AM

I really don't understand her. I mean I personly would give up on anything if I lost once. But this lady just doesn't seem to give up. Doesn't she realize that she can't get rid of something just because she doesn't like. My aunt and uncle are just like her they have never read the books and they think there evil. I really wish that everyone who doesn't like the books would just read the first book and then they can decide if they hate it or not.

Makani 01-19-2007 01:59 AM

Ugh, lady. We have rights in the good ole States and that involves publication rights and since the books aren't erotica or propaganda, they are allowed to remain right where they are.

She ... needs to hop on a broom and jump off her counter.

K33P0NR0CK1N 01-19-2007 02:21 AM

Alright lady. Listen up. It's not that difficult. If you don't want your children to read the awesome, fantastic Harry Potter books, then fine. Don't let them read them. ( I really feel sad for these kids. Being deprived from reading such great books and knowing their mother won Idiot of the Year. :erm: ) But you can't force other people, who actually like reading the books, to not read them. So therefore, you can't ban the books from a public school. We ( all Harry Potter fans) are trying very hard to respect your opinion on hating Harry Potter books, so you should respect our opinion on liking and reading them.

Gosh, people these days.
I'm pretty sure Harry Potter will win again!

Abby Radcliffe 01-19-2007 02:33 AM

Seriously some people just don't know when to quit:yes: , I hope HP wins:hpbroom:

Mari of the Ocean 01-19-2007 03:16 AM

This lady has serius problems!!! She is has already lost why not give up!! Ubviosly the court doesn't think the series is dangerous in any way she should be thinking the same!!

midnightdanzer 01-19-2007 04:29 AM

unbelieveable! Does she really want to get beat again? Can't she at least realize that they won't take the books away no matter what she does? Honestly, some people are really quite oblivious to anything that's not what they want

aero69 01-19-2007 04:55 AM

What is this ladys problem she just doesnt when she beatin

slytherin's_advent 01-19-2007 06:56 AM

Ahhhh....Why isnt she's quiting!!!! She already lost...and then appeal to the court again.Bet you she's so obsessed to Ban hP. Hp Rule!

Pigwidgeon Took 01-19-2007 08:06 AM

i think this lady is absolutely crazy. she STILL hasn't read the books, has she? obviously not or she wouldn't be protesting them because they are good no matter what some misinformed lunatic says.

but she can have her opinion, just like we can all have ours, but i think that if she should ask for such a drastic change, then it should be educated, having read the books and such i mean. she is allowed her opinion, but it would be better for all if she just kept it to herself, because she can't have much of a case without actually knowing what the books contain.

JOpotter 01-19-2007 08:06 AM

Ugh! This woman is still fight this? Goodness this is getting really annoying.... <_<
