Post Video: Half-Blood Prince VFX behind-the-scenes feature

Rising Sun, the special effects company partly behind the Harry Potter film franchise, have released a look at the visual designs used in Half-Blood Prince. Computer graphics implemented to digitally alter scenes involving Harry and Dumbledore's visit to Slughorn's home, the Weasley twins' joke shop, Draco's injured and bloody body when struck by the Sectumsempra curse, and Snape and Draco leaving Hogwarts at the end of the film, are shown in the video below.

Okay.....yes, the technology is amazing and there is a lot of hard-work, good job on that. But I still think that the movie should not forget the purpose and the originality (novel) as well as putting effort into content. But that just me, this is just my opinion, because I think that the content of the movie is more important than some variety technology show. This is not transformers, we are talking about HP. Well, sorry , this is just my opinion, and I am not the only one is thinking this way.

I agree with you to a point, but how else would they bring the actual magic to life properly without the FX, no? The magic is secondary to the actual storyline and characters, but it's still a very important part of the saga.

This is so AWESOME!! I love seeing the actual process of how they put this stuff together. It's really impressive. They do such a AMAZING work!

I love the part with Slughorn turning to the chair. And the whole sequence when Dumbledore put the house back together was so well done!!

And Weasley Wizard Wheezes was PERFECT!!

Computer generated FX is very difficult and rewarding at same time.

I have a friend who works their magic in adding computers (including the finer details of email text or spreadsheet data) and television-type props in shows like Battlestar Galatica, Chuck, Warehouse 13 and movies like Race to Witch Mountain. It takes hours to create the minor things. In the end, there's a bit of pride viewing it on the small or big screen.

Back to main point, I like the Weasley shop green screens. The extra's hair was bizarre! And, this vid shows more footage of the Sectumsempra spell outcome than the 5-second movie version. Interesting, huh? :O

GJ overall

Changeable

It’s always good to see how these things are done; I sometimes forget how much work goes into the films.
