Video: Emma Watson talks People Tree & Bangladeshi involvement in fair trade fashion People Tree were kind enough to send SnitchSeeker a rather inspiring interview with Harry Potter star and fair trade endorser Emma Watson from when she visited Bangladesh this past summer. Conducted by Safia Minney of People Tree, Emma opened up about some of the Bangladeshi workers who earned so much to make the fair trade clothing for the People Tree line, what difference she hopes the line will make for fashion and for those who earn a living making the clothes, and how People Tree can impact Bangladeshi people on a micro scale, and consumers world-wide during the chat. That can be seen below. http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/.../Image1~83.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/.../Image2~54.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/.../Image3~42.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/.../Image4~39.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/.../Image5~30.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/.../Image6~25.jpg Emma's designs for the autumn/winter 2010 line can be found here. |

Definitely amazing. Great interview. |
It's great to see her so involved in all the aspects of her fashion line, and not just the designing aspect. Great for her! |

She's so brave and generous to be helping in India, it's a really hard place to live in and she did an amazing job here. |
She is so amazing! I love Emma!!!!!♥ |
I don't think there's anywhere to buy FairTrade around where I live (in the middle of nowhere!). So sad! |
Such a sweetheart. But really, I wish it was easier to buy People Tree over in the US. [:/] |
Great work Emma. On a related note, i hope she grows her hair back |
She's right about not knowing exactly what it's like until they've seen it for themselves. If you come from a well-developed country into the slums of Dhaka or any other third world country, it's shocking at first and then completely depressing with a sense of hopelessness. It's a pretty dark place with all the range of emotions you feel, not kidding. It's great that people donate to causes, but to see it first hand brings about a new level of awareness, like she said. I'm glad Emma got to see it through her own eyes, because it seems that it made her even more aware and passionate about her cause, which is great. It's so difficult to explain to friends what it's like when they continually say that it's silly to get worked up about these kinds of things. It makes Emma even more wonderful and a better role model. On a lighter note, hand crafted clothes are so much prettier because of all the details they put into it. There's a really nice level of quality to it. :) Quote:

She's such an amazing person. Great video. I really admire how Emma and People Tree are trying to bring attention to this issue. Love them! :D |
First off just love Emma-such an amazing and awesome young woman. Second, my best friend buys mostly FairTrade-the clothes are in awesome condition and are really beautiful. She primarily buys FairTrade these days with alot of products. I think it is because she used to work in the bateys in Haiti and the Dominican Republic and saw what the people there went through. Emma is right, the people do want learn how to work for themselves and sustain a more livable lifestyle. They dont want to depend on help their whole lives. Emma is def very passionate about this issue. If I can locate FairTrade here, I will def buy those items. Anyway, you go Emma girl :) We are proud of you!!! |
she is awesome!!! unbeliavable all the great things she does for the world!!! being so famous and beautiful and rich...really admirable!!!!!!!!!!! :) |
She looks great :xd: |
we love her!! |
I'm glad the cast for Harry Potter aren't really just actors. I admire Emma Watson for going out and learning cool things and even helping with cool things. Makes me happy <3 |
