[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/poa_harry_hermione_80.jpg' align='middle'> UK's highest paid - Money...whose the highest

Summary:
Author JK Rowling, whose latest book Harry Potter........... and more about the others too.............

Article:

The billionaire Russian businessman who bought Chelsea Football Club has been named as the highest paid person in Britain.

Roman Abramovich - who now bases himself in the UK - tops the Sunday Times Pay List 2003, earning £564 million in the last year.

His earnings were attributed to dividends of £530 million paid from his Russian oil company Sibneft and the £34 million he netted from selling his 26% stake in Aeroflot in March.

David Beckham is still the highest paid footballer - and his move to Real Madrid has sent him up 11 places to 34th in the list, which is published tomorrow.

The England captain's earnings were put at £20.5 million, and he still earns more than the Queen.

In second place was John Caudwell, founder of Europe's largest independent cellular phone distributor Phones 4U.

His earnings in the year to September 30 were put at £397.005 million.

By far the biggest chunk of Mr Caudwell's earnings come from selling his Singlepoint subsidiary to Vodafone in August.

The deal netted him £393 million personally from sale proceeds of £405 million.

Businessman Philip Green, who topped the list last year, was knocked into fourth place with earnings of £171 million.

Author JK Rowling, whose latest book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix earned her around £75 million, becomes the highest paid woman. With £125 million she holds fifth place in the overall list of 500 top earners.

MERLINS BEARD!

You couldn't spend £125 million in a lifetime, well I couldn't - geez thats alot of dosh - no wonder JKR says she feels guilty in her interviews for having too much money, I think I would too.

I'm all for Girl Power though, and she has worked hard for it! :sorcerer:

That's amazing that she's the fifth richest woman in Britain, beating the queen! She deserves it!

Ah, how depressing. Some people don't have anything to eat, and the govenor of Chucotka buys himself a football team... Maybe my mother should run for prime minister here? Nah, she doesn't speak latvian...

Personally, I don't this is right. HP wasn't meant to make JK the richest woman in Britain, it was meant to be a good book, right? Now it's only about the money. What's new? But, of course, it's a good thing that she was well-rewarded for her wounderful books. 4 books, at least. The 5th wasn't at all the same thing. Sorry, but it's my opinion.

Well, I am VERY glad for her! She's the highest payed woman in the UK, eh? Congrats, JKR!

She deserves it. Remember how she started? She was writing in coffee shops- never thought Harry'd be this popular. That means that, with faith we can all reach our dreams! YEAH! She's a role model!

Wow.. I didn't know that she was so waelthy.. she does deserve it! She's got a lucky kid at home too.

These people have a lot. So much they mostly don't even know HOW much they've got. I stick to my old motto:
You can't have everything.... where would you PUT it?

I don't think that JK only writes because of the money. If your thesis were true, there wouldn't be only 7 books. She would write more than that.

And she was the talented one who created HP. Why can't she earn all this money? She deserves it!
