On Monday morning, tickets for
Harry Potter author's J.K. Rowling discussion with Ann Patchett about the release of
The Casual Vacancy were set to go on sale at 10am EST via online ticketing, phone, and at the box office, as announced by Jazz at Lincoln Center, whose Rose Theater will be holding the event on October 16th at 8pm in New York City. However, resulting from a glitch, an online link was released 12 hours prior, and fans were able to purchase tickets, though errors came about that.
SnitchSeeker spoke to reps for Jazz at Lincoln Center Monday morning, who said that at first they were unaware that the tickets were sold on Sunday evening, against what was scheduled. Then once 10am EST hit on Monday, errors showed for those purchasing tickets for the venue via two direct ticket-selling links, stating that only 8 tickets were still available. Another update showed that tickets were sold out (at around 10:30am on Monday).
SnitchSeeker was even provided a new link where fans could purchase the tickets, given by JALC at 10:45am (found
here - at first active, but no longer as tickets sold out by late morning). Overall, JALC reps stated that they were not aware of the glitch that occurred, that the "system was re-built and went on sale at 10am as planned," and that there were only around "75 people in line at the box office and CenterCharge sold tickets as well," so tickets had not sold out at that time.
JALC now updated their website with the following:

A Conversation with J.K. Rowling - October 16, 2012 Update
Due to technical difficulties on the ticketing website, tickets for the J. K. Rowling event on 10/16/12 were made available prematurely at 10 pm on September 9th. Tickets then went on sale at the previously announced time of 10 am on September 10th.
Jazz at Lincoln Center is in the process of investigating how this occurred and what arrangements may be made to honor each ticket purchased, and will provide an update as quickly as possible. Neither JK Rowling nor Little Brown and Company are responsible for this situation. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes for any inconvenience.
For those worried that tickets may have been double-booked, JALC recommended fans to either "call CenterCharge (212-721-6500) or Customer Service for clarification," where they would take your name and notify you of where you are seated. Those people who have ambiguous seat numbers like A-111, for example, which is the location of one of three spots at the Rose Theater (a seat labeled A-111 can be found in the orchestra, mezzanine,
and balcony), should call as well. If you are not sure where your seat is located, please take JALC's advice and call them for confirmation.
For those lucky enough to purchase tickets and not only get email confirmation, but verification from CenterCharge or Customer Service that their seat(s) are set for them, feel free to comment in the thread below; those who were not able to get tickets, feel free to vent (but keep it civil).
SnitchSeeker will be at Jazz at Lincoln Center for J.K. Rowling's chat, and will be
live-tweeting with full coverage that evening.
