Sorcerer's Stone named most memorable book

Book editors and critics at USA Today have chosen Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as No. 1 on their list of the 25 most memorable books from the past 25 years. The list covers books that have left a mark on not just the publishing industry, but on readers as well.

Quote:

Midnight book parties, all-night readathons, overnight deliveries: A boy wizard named Harry got kids (and adults) thinking that reading was cool. And mega sales of the magical series redefined what it meant to be a best seller.
You can view the entire list here, as well as vote for your choice for most memorable book (on the left hand side of the page).

What happened ... to ... the discriminating ... people ... *Cries*

Nobel Prize winning author Toni Morrison gets knocked to no. 9 and you wonder that anyone takes USA Today seriously ... stupid pop culture rag trash ... I wouldn't let my bird poop on this thing much less wipe my windshield with it.

On the other hand, you could say the HP series has many parrallels with our world. For instance, like Emma Watson said, it echoes such things as limits on personal freedoms and the revoking of civil liberties.
