Book editors and critics at USA Today have chosen Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as No. 1 on their list of the 25 most memorable books from the past 25 years. The list covers books that have left a mark on not just the publishing industry, but on readers as well. Quote:

And yet ... I can't say the book shouldn't be on the list. On the other hand, you could say the HP series has many parrallels with our world. For instance, like Emma Watson said, it echoes such things as limits on personal freedoms and the revoking of civil liberties.
