The
Wigtown Book Festival in Scotland will be showing off a one-of-a-kind treat: rare
manuscript pages from the
Harry Potter book series, hand-written by J.K. Rowling.
Amongst the pages, signed by Rowling, will be the "Ballard of Nearly Headless Nick," which was eventually edited out of the final cut of
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (the song can be found on Jo's
official website).
Rowling donated the pages Scottish Language Dictionaries in 2005 as a means to help fund a new Scottish language dictionary. They have never been displayed to the public until now.
For those in the Wigtown area, the pages will be displayed in glass cases at the ReadingLasses bookshop for ten days starting this coming Friday, September 24 to October 2, 2010.
If anyone is in or around the Wigtown, Scotland area and able to see the pages,
let us know!
UPDATE: The
BBC posted a couple of pages of the manuscript, more specifically Nearly Headless Nick's ballad, which can be found in our
galleries.
