Ralph Fiennes receives BFI's Variety UK Achievement in Film award

Actor Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) received the Variety UK Achievement in Film award earlier today as part of the British Film Institute's 52nd annual London Film Festival in England. Photos of Ralph with his award can be seen in our galleries:

Ralph was also interviewed whilst getting his award, where he discusses the brutal reality of working in films:

Quote:

"Often I think people haven't experienced the high pressure of a filming schedule. It isn't all celebration and glamour and glitz. The public see all the red carpets and the gossip columns and the fashion side of things. But actually it's very, very, very long hours, quite high risk and expensive, and everyone has to commit. So it's always a huge achievement when anyone makes it look easy making a film."

He also explained how much he enjoys working between film and stage:

"I think it's fantastic if you can mix it up, if you can balance it and do both. There's an extra detail available to an actor on film, which isn't in the theatre. While on the other hand, there's an extension of gesture and voice and expression in the theatre which is more immediate, which you can't usually feel on film."

I think, regardless of his hair, he wears a skullcap during filming.

Yes, Congratulations! It's hard to see the hard work put into a film, when a film is done so well like the Harry Potter films. That's probably why a film may take a year to make to put it all together. Very interesting.
