Quote of the Week - Michelle Obama In a recent interview with OK! Magazine Michelle Obama, wife of Barack Obama, the democratic presidential candidate in the U.S. race for the White House, spoke about what she and her family get up to in their downtime. Quote:

Oooooooooooo~ Nicely said ! First to post Yay ! Tks , |
^ Let's not turn this into a politicial debate :) |
at last - a politician with a proper education! |
Defeat Voldemort - Yes We Can! |
It sounds like the Obama family are well grounded and living an excellent life! Great choices, all! |
he must like the best of both worlds |
awesome |
Mhm, they've got my vote even though I'm not old enough. LOL =D |
Quote:
I knew that Obama was cool for a reason... |
That's pretty cool! |
heehee. That's really nice. |
Cool. I thought Malia was waiting for Obama to read Deathly Hallows with her once he's done campaigning? |
The quote was not meant to be political in any way. It just means that Barack is doing well to teach his daughters. It is those who wish to bring Barack, who is only associated with reading aloud, to a more political stance that you should be worrying about. This quote was meant to show a more relaxed and family-time Barack. But anyways, it's real good that Barack is reading to his daughters such great novels! |
Thats... great??? I am soo mad I was supposed to go to a block partay today but its thundering over here and it is only on the other side of town sooo erh! |
It's so nice to hear about politicians acting like regular people. :D |
I didn't think, that Obama read HP... I didn't think, that he likes watching it... In my opinion he will get votes from all HP fans :D |
Michelle Obama is like one pf my personal heros She is THE classiest first lady hopeful since the gracefully Jackie-O herself. And that fact that her family reads Harry Potter and is not ashamed to say that they do is wonderful to me. It is funny that we as human beings can't agree on much these days you know. We take the littleist thing that is different and we make a big deal out of it. I have brown eyes you have blue. I am a dark black american and you are a light black american. But a simple series of 7 books can bring us all together. That is amazing to me, and it just makes me smile to think that. In countries where women have to cover their entire bodies and even their eyes we have people working to translate Harry Potter. Not even the fact that we are all humans could have brought us all together like this. I know that was a little off topic but I just think it needs to be said. |
Well, it just goes to show how many people read Harry Potter, how big this story has grown... go, JK! |
Cool Quote... |
Woo Woo ^_^ That's really cool! |
Okay guys, let's take a breath. Sure, the person in question has relation to politics, but this thread isn't for that. This, as all Quotes of the Week, is to show how various people have association with all and any things Potter. As Emma said, let's not turn this into a political debate. So take a breath and calm down, okay? |
Sounds good :D |
cool! A great idea to spend time with family! |
ladycplum, Potter for Minister, Patronus Charm, Tommy and to everybody else who finds this a sensitive issue: first of all, this is simply a quote from a public personality. there is nothing political about it, heck it doesnt even say anything about the campaign or their platform or their opponents. the post merely gives the quote and a quick intro on the person who said it. thats it. it is us, the respectable members of this forum, that started taking things politically. and it was even just a simple "he has my vote" which can simply be countered with a "well he doesnt have my vote". and if you look at those statements, they're not even highly political, it merely states your opinion about one person. thats all. and to be fair to the News team on what gets posted around here: not too far back there was also an article saying that kids suggest the UK politicians read Harry Potter. that thread didnt get closed down, didnt turn political. but do you think our UK members dont feel one way or the other about their politics the way we Americans do with ours? its all about reaction and discussions to a simple statement. and yes since this is a rather polarizing personality we however are still in a Harry Potter forum, i think its up to us members to keep the thread neutral and politics free. |
