Oscar-winning legend Maggie Smith, whom of course
Harry Potter fans know as portraying Professor McGonagall in the series, recently joked about how the cancer she had a few years ago benefited the crew for
Half-Blood Prince in 2009. The quote comes from an
interview done with Smith as part of her appearance to promote her new movie,
Quartet, at this month's Toronto Film Festival, and her Emmy-winning series,
Downton Abbey.
Quote:
“There are advantages to cancer, you know. My chemo cheered up the makeup department on Harry Potter because the wig went on a great deal easier without a single hair on my head.”
“I knew it was going to be a major commitment when I started, but it turned out to be 10 years. That’s a lot of time with one character!”
