| | | PS: One of the UK's most -watched films Harry Potter and the Philsopher's Stone was one of the most watched films over the Christmas period, which were aired on BBC1. Quote:
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Bend it like Beckham and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider pulled in a total of 22.6 million viewers.
Quote:
"As well as being a major ratings success for the BBC, the 2004/5 festive film figures back up opinion poll figures showing that viewers want to see more recent British films on television.
"At the moment they make up only a tiny percentage of all films on the five main channels.
"The consistent popularity of British films such as Billy Elliot and Bend It Like Beckham underlines the overwhelming case for the BBC to build on its recent improvement in the number of contemporary British films being shown, and to increase its historically low level of investment in UK film production."

| Moo Spork? SPORKY SPORKY!!
I can say I have seen PS more times than the other two. Mainly because my parents always watched at and whenever I went to work(right after OotP came out) it was playing over and over again. It's a great movie, but I did get some burnout watching it so many times.

Does anyone else find it upsetting that one third of the UK watched TV on Christmas day?

No because by 6pm most of the festivities have wound down and people are either tired, drunk or both. LOL There's not much else to do of an evening at Christmas and don't suggest church because I went twice and watched PS.
I don't think families sat through it all, with mine it was just on the telly so some watched a few minutes but most of the time we were eating and talking and being 'together'.

I can see your point... it's just that my family aren't much of a TV family at all. I suppose that in moderation, television at Christmas is OK, but what I find upsetting is when a family have their Christmas dinner, open the presents and sit down and watch TV solidly.

^ Yeah I know what you mean. I think most people just watch it after the exhausting lunch. I know we do although mainly we play new board games and watch new DVD's and stuff.

This is a bit hypocritical of me, because I don't go to church at Christmas. Since my family all have very different beliefs, (but we all believe there is a God), we usually try and keep the spirit of Christmas by togetherness; and I think as long as that spirit is there, that's fine. I'm just against all the commercialism, shops getting all the stuff in September and all that.
