The crazy Ferrets just can't get enough of contests and prizes. Project Ferret is issuing a new fan fiction writing challenge to its members this week, and as many have guessed, it has something to do with water.

It's going to be a collaborative story in three rounds. Writers will submit a story chapter based on a mission set out by the Formidable Ferrets (Administrators). PF members will then rate each submission on a scale of 1-10 and the top scoring submission will become chapter one. The mission for round two will pick up where that chapter leaves off, and round three will follow the winning chapter two and conclude the story.

Each round winner will win a small prize. The top three placing writers from each round will earn valuable Ferret Points, and the writers with the most Ferret Points at the end of the contest will win first and second prizes. Parody submissions will be accepted throughout the contest and will be rated separately from regular submissions. The top scoring parody submission will earn the Bubblehead Charm award and receive a prize.

The new contest will launch on Thursday, September 9th at approximately 12:00 noon central time. The round one mission, more contest details and the prize list will all be revealed!

I believe the article said the story would be about water, not ferrets.

I have the same problem. I have school but not exactly work, I guess you could call it that because I have to make websites for people.

I think its a great idea, because anything to get youth writing today for fun is a challenge in itself.

Visit our website. Project Ferret is a collaborative HARRY POTTER fan fiction community. We're called Project FERRET because it refers to the first Potter Project story, in which Hermione transfigured Draco Malfoy into a ferret. It's also a Goblet of Fire reference (Moody turned Draco into a ferret first).

The first Potter Project at Snitchseeker is what brought together the group of writers who created Project Ferret - so we have some strong sentimental ties to Snitchseeker, which is why when we hold contests and have news to share, Snitchseeker gets the scoop before anyone else. ;)

To recap: We don't write about ferrets. We write about Harry Potter and his world.

I should have mentioned (and usually do, when I'm posting Ferret News here - sorry!) that new members are required to submit a piece of writing in the "So You Want To Be A Ferret?" forum, or give us a link to something you've already written. It should show that you know how to write using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Once you've done that, you'll be promoted to full-fledged Ferret Fan and have permission to post outside of the newbie forum.

You must have full membership to participate in writing challenges at Project Ferret.

To everyone interested in joining: just do it! I joined about a month or so ago, and I've already won two of the duels... ^^ They were different than this challenge, though. I have to go mull the details over... I'll probably end up doing the Bubblehead Charm sub-style, but I have a feeling I'd end up competing with Zymurgy...and she'd probably win :P It's going to be a ton of fun, though!
