Pottermore welcome emails set to start arriving mid-August, logins disabled
 

Pottermore began sending out emails today indicating a rough timeframe for when the welcome emails will start arriving for those who were lucky enough to get a Beta account during the Magical Quill Challenge last week. According to the email, the welcome emails will start arriving in mid-August and will continue throughout the end of September.

UPDATE: The Pottermore Insider blog updated today noting that the sign-in button has been removed currently, and will be up once the welcome letters are sent out beginning next week. They also gave the answers to the Magical Quill challenge questions, seen below.

As we mentioned in our earlier post, we’re staggering access to the Beta site, so you may have to wait a few weeks for your Welcome email to arrive. This second email will let you know that your account has been activated and that you can log in to Pottermore. (Please note that the 'Sign in to Pottermore' link has been temporarily removed from the Pottermore site and that it will return when the first early access accounts are enabled.)

Finally, we thought the curious amongst you might like to know exactly which clues appeared on which days, and what the clue solutions were.

Day 1 Clue
How many breeds of owl are featured on the Eeylops Owl Emporium sign?
Answer: 5
Multiply this number by 49.
Solution: 245

Day 2 Clue
What is the number of the chapter in which Professor McGonagall cancels the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff?
Answer: 14
Multiply this number by 42.
Solution: 588

Day 3 Clue
In the Gryffindor versus Slytherin Quidditch match, in Harry’s third year, how many points is Gryffindor leading by before Harry catches the Golden Snitch?
Answer: 60
Multiply this number by 35.
Solution: 2100

Day 4 Clue
How many students take part in the Triwizard Tournament during Harry’s fourth year?
Answer: 4
Multiply this number by 28.

Isnt this info we already know? Why did they bother sending this email out? They could have just posted this on pottermore insider. It was a real killjoy when i found this in my email and thought it was my welcome letter......They could have at LEAST given us a better time frame or how they were selecting the first people to get the welcome letters....

Still waiting for it too. Knowing the fact that we have to wait MORE after this just killed the mood though. <_<

just got my email. yay :)

Not all the emails have been sent out at the same time; I got mine at around 5pm and a friend got theirs two hours later. So don't worry TOO much about not getting it straight away, I'd imagine their servers would crash if they tried sending a million emails at once.

I know people who got in on Day 2 that have their emails. I got in on Day 4. :x3:

I got mine too. I know that it's just a reminder email but at least it confirms that I will get a chance to try the website early. I was so excited to see the email. Now all that is left is the final welcome email. It's definitely getting closer. I'm so excited.:woot:

BTW to NemeshT who asked whether the sign in button is there, according to the website where the Pottermore link in my email took me to, it has been removed temporarily.

James do you mean they got there welcome emails or this new "update email"?? Pottermore insider says the login button will re appear when they start giving people access to the site...so as i understand there have been no welcome emails just yet? Except for those fake ones....(photoshopped...how low can people get?)

I got mine too!!! Thought it was the welcome email at first, but then realised it wasn't :(

At least now I've got 5 days to forget agout Pottermore until "Mid-August" comes and I return to my passtime of refreshing my inbox every few minutes! :)

Im using verizon and my friends using Gmail. We both got our letters at the same time about a 1/2hr ago. I woulnt worry, I had to wait an hour for my verifictaion email, but i still got it :) You'll get it, there just doing it in batches so they dont overload....

Kind of a kill joy to be like here...wait some more...

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh! and double ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh annoying seriously giving you an email saying your getting a welcome email

I got in on Day 3. Should I be concerned that I still haven't gotten my 2nd email?
