Pottermore blog announces Beta site will be down for a few days beginning Nov. 2
 

Pottermore's Insider blog updated and announced that the beta site will be down for a few days beginning November 2, 2011, and that the BETA period will be extended further. Pottermore stated weeks ago that they tentatively scheduled to open to the general public by late October, though that has been postponed. At the moment we do not have a tentative date for the opening but will announce it as soon we can.

After looking closely at all the information that we've gathered, we have decided to further extend the Beta period so we can improve Pottermore before giving more people access. This means the site will not be opening to new users in the immediate future, but please know that we will open registration as soon as we can.

As part of our work to make Pottermore even better, we'll be taking the site down for a few days on Wednesday 2 November. We're going to use this time to make a few technical changes behind-the-scenes.

We've set up a separate page on the Insider so we can give you the latest Beta information and answer some of the more common Beta questions. We'll be updating it as the Beta continues and posting on our Twitter account, too.

So Pottermore will not be opening to new users just yet. For all of you who are waiting to enter Pottermore, we want to thank you for being so patient - we’re working very hard to make some exciting improvements, and we're really looking forward to welcoming you to the site when it’s ready.

A few FAQs about Pottermore, including about the Sorting, chapter issues, and registration problems, have been updated, and can be read here.

OMG. People who didn't get to enter the Beta are going to be crazily angry. But the good news is that the site will get some changes that need to be, because there is still a lot of bugs!

Darn!!! I was just counting down to the end of October for NOTHING!!! Now I don't even when to count down to!!!!

Maybe they'll be making some improvements. I do hope so.
But I'm slightly disappointed with them not having a fixed date.

Yikes, how much more do they want to postpone it? But I'm sure when it's open to all there will be no 'whoops this page has disappeared' etc.

I'm not really bothered by this as I haven't got an account yet. But they should do whatever will help them to improve the site! :D

It's good they're working on improvements, but if they keep delaying entrance, some people will lose interest.
I also hope the second book is up when they open again.

I've heard it could be december/January for the 2 book to be open. :faint:

Pottermore isin't even that good tbh . I don't like it they din't give you enough detail of whats going on in the paraghras that are 2-3 lines long. Fixxxx it pleaswed

and i'm a little wary with the Nov 2 offline thing. that sounds ominous to me, like they might actually just pull the plug on the thing and we wont hear a peep from it until COS is ready to come out next year.

Ugh, I guess its a good thing but I have been waiting for it to open up to the public for a LONG time (like many others) and now it may not open for a while. I hope it opens by the end of November or going into December but I've lost hope after I found out it will be offline for a while. I guess it will open when it opens.

I think that it is annoying for those of us who aren't betas but it is good nonetheless because the site is fill of bugs and obviously it isn't ready for huge traffic beyond the million betas, etc.

I'm not surprised, but I really hope that they're update the site quickly with the feedback they've received and then let the non-betas join.

I hate how people are so quick to complain about this. Jo did NOT have to do this for her fans at all. Yes I understand that everybody wants to be apart of it, but you should be thankful that you even get to have this at all. All of the improvements will make it even that much better for you once you do get access. I am a beta user and the site is amazing, but there are a lot of flaws that they have already overcame and more to work on so be patient....it will be worth it...and most of all be thankful that Jo is the person that she is and that she really appreciates her fans enough to even do this!

that's great! When I come back to the site for the second book, it will be even better!
