Summary:
The British Board of Film Classification, have said that PoA will be given a PG rating, in the UK.

Article:

PoA Given "PG" certificate in the UK

The final version of The Prisoner of Azkaban has been finished and given a PG certificate by the British Board of Film Classification.

The film's darker storyline hasn't stopped it being given the same rating as the first two Harry Potter movies.

Unlike the book of Azkaban, which is longer than the previous two adventures, the film is actually shorter than the last two.

It's official running time is 135 minutes.

Philosopher's Stone clocked in at 152 minutes long, and Chamber of Secrets was a whopping 160 minutes long.

The film has its world premiere in New York on 23 May, and its British premiere a week later on 30 May. Fans will get their chance to check it out shortly after that.

SHORTER! WAAAAAAAA. How can it be shorter, I hope they haven't missed too much out.

I don't mind that it's a PG, I guess it still has to target the main audience at the box office.

samanthalee1983 05-11-2004 06:00 PM

Dang. I was hoping it would be PG13 so there wouldn't be too many "little" kids opening weekend. *pout* well, it didn't say anything about Canada yet so I can still hope.

EmmaRiddle 05-11-2004 06:03 PM

We dont have PG13 here. In the UK. It's either PG, 12A or 12.

Probably not, our version of PG13 is 12A. Which is a shame, we'll have to put up with the kids now LOL

samanthalee1983 05-11-2004 06:15 PM

*pout* Oh well... at least they're all gonna be really big fans of HP if they're gonna be there opening weekend.

LemonDrizzle 05-11-2004 06:33 PM

12 is only used for Video and DVD ratings.

I expect that they will put a warning on it as well, someting like 'contains scenes of fantasy horror which may be unsuitable for young children'

Just a guess though.

Danschik 05-11-2004 06:42 PM

I knew it was gonna be PG again. What were they gonna rate it, R?

Gage13 05-11-2004 09:10 PM

oh how could it be shorter? man that sucks oh well i don't care i wish they were all as long as lotr that would be awesome lol but we will all get to see it in less than a month

Kazters 05-11-2004 09:14 PM

i really hoped it would be a 12a like LOTR RTK but sadly it is PG so people will be taking little tiny kids even though from what i have seen it isnt sutable for them.

they have probably cut scary stuff out to get it to a PG to make the most amount of money u know what WB is like

Deb_1 05-11-2004 09:24 PM

shortened
PG is ok coz 12A would be to high i think. i dont mind though im like one of the little kids anyway!
:hello:

What is wrong with "little kids"? They want to see the movie just as bad as we do. My little brother is 8 and he would have been very dissapointed if he couldn't see it!
They have been waiting as long as us and they deserve a chance to see it too.

I think she meant the original fans. The ones there from the beginning.

We've been waiting longer, about 6 years lol That's how long I've been a fan of HP.

I don't think that it is important how long you are a fan as long as you are one now.

vietgirlz_8706 05-11-2004 11:50 PM

it really short.but it going to be good.

*ki-ki* 05-12-2004 01:05 AM

How can they do that to us?!?! shorter? totally unfair!! but its going to be really good! :sorcerer:

Padie 05-12-2004 01:05 AM

to bad it's shorter!
PG huh?....

patrickgrant 05-12-2004 01:38 AM

Well I wish it would be PG-13 also! Or 12A or what have you. I just wish it was a higher rating so it was less of a kids movie because people make fun of me at school for liking a kids movie... :/ Well that's just my opinion.

~Elf_Warrior~ 05-12-2004 02:43 AM

SHORTER?

DADA Auror Witch 05-12-2004 03:18 AM

Well, i dont care who is in the audience, i just wanna see the movie, i dont care about the age group

~*HermioneGranger*~ 05-12-2004 06:30 AM

I don't care who is in the audience either i want everyone to see it so they will all know how great Hp is and not think i'm totally crazy for being so obsessed. There is only G, PG, M, MA, R here....I would have liked it to be M but oh well Cant wait! Too bad it is shorter

Actually, I did mean "little" kids as in really young ones... like 6 years old or younger, with short attention spans and powerful lungs for screaming. If they're gonna be quiet and watch the movie and not ruin the experience for the rest of the audience than the "kids" are fine... but if I pay $8 for the movie and about $8 on popcorn etc... I want to enjoy it.

I can't say the ones that were there "from the beginning" because it was only this summer that I actually discovered that HP was books as well (Long story, very boring). But, anyway, I don't really care how long someone has been a fan of HP.

Oh I agree with you completely.

It is annopying when kids go see HP and scream and make noise. They dont understand that the older, more mature fans want to actually watch and appreciate the film.

Mind you, I just chucked popcorn at them last time round. That shut them up.

But seriously, OoP, I even struggled through that. So I dont see how kids as young as 8 can be reading OoP.

Kazters 05-12-2004 10:49 AM

Parents assume that ohit is Harry Potter a film for children.... POA isnt it is scary at times i mean the dementors are. it is so annoying when little kid have to keep walking past you to get to the toilet or talking loudly saying,

"Mummy what is happenng?" that happend to me last year. this kid kept doing it he was like 10 so i turned around and said.

"If u dont know u should read the book so please shut up and stop spoinling my HP experence" his mam wasnt to happy but the people nxt to him were. lol
