| | | Order of the Phoenix DVD reviews (UPDATED)
With the approaching British release of the Order of the Phoenix DVD, reviews are steadily emerging. This is a collective article of them all, which will be updated periodically. The Mirror: 3/5 Quote:
The other extras include a Magic Of Editing documentary, which also gives you the chance to edit your own scene from the film. Adult users may need to ask their computer whizz kids to show them how, otherwise you might end up hitting random keys on your remote control like a certain Mirror reviewer.
There’s another feature called Trailing Tonks, in which minor character Tonks gives a behind-the-scenes tour of the set. Clearly the main cast were too busy – or too expensive – to do it themselves.
Evening Post: 3/5 Quote:
The film is, in many respects, the least satisfying of the Harry Potter film adaptations.
Poor Ron is shoved well into the background although Hermione fares better.
Director David Yates orchestrates the myriad elements with assurance but in the absence of any big action sequences until the final showdown, the running time errs towards uncomfortably long.
CBBC Newsround: 3/5 Quote:
OOTP is the longest story, and it would be nice to have a feature explaining how together the team behind the movie decided what should be cut out of the book.
There's nothing from JK Rowling on here. Perhaps one day we'll get a DVD commentary from her (where as we watch the movie she talks about the scenes we're seeing).
Scotland on Sunday: 4/5 Quote:
Christmas stockings would be pointless without it. DVD extras include 15 minutes of additional scenes and two documentaries.
Pocket-Lint Quote:
Boasting razor-sharp, crystal clear images and uncompressed, cinema quality surround sound, the HD DVD and Blu-ray editions of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix claims to bring Hogwarts to life in a way never seen before.
Metro: 5/5 Quote:
Extras: Uninspiring featurette called The Hidden Secrets Of Harry Potter (basically a 44min trailer), a slightly irritating behind-thescenes look with wizard Tonks, plus an interesting editing doc.
The Daily Record: 4/5 Quote:
Poor Ron is shoved so far into the background he may as well not be in the film at all, save for a couple of one-liners and a scene backing-up best pal Harry.
If you find any more reviews please forward them to us and we'll update this thread!
SnitchSeeker will be reviewing the DVD very soon! Order of the Phoenix releases on DVD in the U.K. on Monday.

Oh, but I loved this movie the best!
And Tonks is a main character, just not in the movie, so fans of the books wouldn't blink an eye towards her doing the tour of behind the scenes - in fact, I'm sure many would be very pleased that she's the one doing it!
We've had the main cast do that for the last couple of movies, so it's great for someone fresh to do it!
And, admittedly Ron is slightly pushed back, but Hermione was the one that orchestrated the idea of the DA group in the first place, so it's not too surprising she's in it more. Plus, in the scene with the centaurs, she and Harry are the only two in the book, aside from Umbridge, who encounter them, so its not that the director has decided to get rid of Ron because they don't like him!
And, you've got to admit, the movies are becoming more in-depth, and funnier.
I don't think this reviewer is being kind enough to the best Potter movie so far!

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

Can't wait for the extras. Too bad the second reviewer didn't like the film, but I guess they can't please everyone. I, myself, have mixed feelings about it...one of the reasons is because of what the second said: Poor Ron is shoved well into the background. [She forgot to mention "again."]
But, I have to wait another month.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Shouou Inagaki Seventh Year | Hold it! Title Invasion I liked OotP the best too... I understand why many wouldn't like it, and it was certainly edited, but not as heavily as the others I think... And I do feel bad for Ron being shoved to the back. Overall, I think the series should have been done as separate mini-series or something, but the movies will do.
And OotP is a lengthy book without much movie-esk excitement until the end, so I wasn't sure how they'd do it... and they took out one of the best parts for action! The Brain Room *luffs his MoM rp job >_>* |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jillian McGuffin Sixth Year | Gryffindor Goddess I agree that Ron wa shoved in the background! I mean, where was Weasley is Our King! that was one of the parts I would've loved to see! And Sirius wasn't shown that much..he should have so that his death was more felt...and what was up with that veil?O_o And they kinda twisted the plot a little bit...you can't really say they sticked to the actual plot, but they didn't really wander that far off... All in all it was a good movie, not really fantastic because of cut scenes and all that, but it is pretty difficult to put all of the details in a movie, mind you... |

I must agree that the veil was not what pople thought it would be. I love the movie, bur Ron was taken to the back of the scree, and it's not the first time I feel they place Ron wrongly. People don't seemed to understand that Ron is not only Harry's best friend, he was his frist friend, Hermione is an important character, especially because Jo says she's very like Hermione, but Ron is definetly more important in Harry's life

I have felt the same way. With each new DVD release I've hoped for some commentary from Joanne! Maybe she's saving herself for the final DVD? Who knows! Fingers crossed then!
Thanks Emma
