| | | Official: David Yates to direct OotP
We previously reported he would direct ' Order of the Phoenix', now WB have made an official announcement - British director David Yates will direct the fifth Potter film.
In the following press release, David Heyman, producer of all the Potter films so far, comments on the choice of director and together with Warner Brothers President of Production Jeff Robinov, confirms that a fifth Potter film will take place. Quote:
"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" will be produced by David Heyman from a screenplay by Michael Goldenberg ("Where the Wild Things Are," "Peter Pan"). Production on the film is expected to begin in England in January 2006.
Quote:
"I am thrilled that David Yates is going to direct 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,'" Heyman said. "Not only does he have tremendous passion for the world of Harry Potter, but he is a great director with a keen visual sense who fills every frame with humanity and compassion for his characters."
"We've been fortunate to have worked with very talented directors on the first four Harry Potter films," Robinov added, "all of whom have brought these extraordinary stories to life with their own unique creative vision. We're looking forward to continuing that tradition with David Yates on 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.'"
It is also confirmed that Michael Goldenberg will write the script and production of the film is expected to begin in January 2006.

Confirmation of the actors wont come for months because production of OotP doesn't even start until next January. Quote:

Probably not seeing as HBP is due this year and OotP the film won't even be out until 2007 by which time JK will be well on her way to finishing book 7. Quote:
i wonder when GOF finishes..
Filming finishes between Feb and April but of course after that there's loads of effects and editing to be done. Steven Kloves.
