No Fleur Delacour in Deathly Hallows? (UPDATED)
 

Fashion e-zine WhoWhatWearDaily is reporting that Clemence Poesy (Fleur Delacaour) will not appear in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

We are attempting to confirm this through Warner Bros. (see update below, at end of article)

UPDATE: UniversHarryPotter has been in contact with Poesy's agent and has confirmation that the actress was misquoted in the magazine and has never stated she doesn't want to be in future Potter films.

wow I mean the wedding is in the Deathly Hallows, that is an important scene in the book and it has to be in the movie, but they are plenty of French chicks out there that would love to be in a HP movie

this is critical to the plot, that horrible weasley aunt reveals to harry a lot of things about dumbledor.

That's hardly a surprise, but I swear WB better not change it from Bill/Fleur to Remus/Tonks. Please don't, I might gag a little.

I was really looking forward to the wedding scene and the havoc that is created. I wonder how they will change that, and also Shell cottage.

Well, to be specific, this doesn't say that the character of Fleur won't appear in DH; just that Clemence won't. They could very well recast her. And they had better. What's the point of doing a two-parter if you're still going to be omitting scenes?

Thats so sad! I really liked Fleur in the Halfblood prince. And really, Clémence is so pretty!

I am convinced a different actress will be Fleur. The wedding scene is crucial. Too much happens in that scene AND since the movie will be in two parts they wont have to delete as much out.

I wonder if warner bros and clemence simply did not come to an agreement.

She's chosen to not appear in any other films? Or they haven't asked her back? It seems strange that they would not include the wedding in DH...especially since they broke it into two parts. It's a pretty important part, I think.

I wouldn't mind them recasting Fleur, Clemence is pretty, but she doesn't seem the type to turn men into mindless slugs by her mere appearance. THAT BEING SAID, if the wedding in and of itself is not included in the movie, upset, angry, insulted, revolted, crushed, gypped, and insanely homicidal will not even go near what I will feel. :mwaha:

Sorry but this is not true.

WhoWhatWearDaily is a fashion blog run by two ex magazine editors that comment about people's outfits. They did not interview her for that post so please don't believe it. Since the blog started they have never interviewed anyone exclusively for their site. It's just their thoughts about fashion.

In the April issue of Empire magazine there was an interview with Clémence and she said that while she is not in HBP she would come back for DH if asked.

I would believe a movie magazine interview over a fashion blog anyday. This shouldn't be on your news page as it's just made up gossip.

interesting, I liked Fleur as a character...

That's really sad! I liked her as Fleur! Fleur isn't that much important in the plot, but what anout shell cottage? And I would've loved to see the wedding. scene. But if she gets replaced by another actress, it would be a bit confusing for some people because they wouldn't know that it's the same character in GoF.

Wether this is true or not, I know not, but I WOULD believe a movie mag. over a fashion mag. anyday. However, I do believe that this should be understood:

JUST BECAUSE CLEMENCE DOESN'T PLAY THE CHARACTER DOESN'T MEAN IT WON'T BE RECASTED.

imo, Clemence wasn't right for the role. She isn't ditzy enough; she is gorgeous, but not in a veela, transfixing way.

WHAT???????? this is like my deathly hallows nightmare...why not...she should come back...so what about the wedding..i really want to see hermione and ron in action...why? that would have been a light scene within this dark movie...

I hope that they get someone else to play Fleur. Clemence was really good as her. They've got to have Fleur in DH. She (and Bill of course) were important to the story.

It's too bad that she's not going to be in the movie. It's definitely understandable though.

What??? and Why?? there are two possibilities, There will be no Fleur in DH and that means no Wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the other one that they will replace her with another actress and I can't see why??

Doing 2 films doesn't mean they're going to lift the plot from the books, word for word (which is a good thing imo).

I think we've seen this coming for a long time - ever since she & Bill were ommitted from Half-Blood Prince. I think it will be Lupin/Tonks getting married.

Her place can easily be substituted by Tonks. It's not necessary that it's Fleur. Her purpose can be served by someone else.

Being faithful and literal aren't the same thing. As it stands, the film audience won't have much knowledge of Bill & Fleur as a couple, so it makes sense to leave them out or replace them.

No, they didn't. In fact, when asked, David Heyman said 2 films didn't mean everything would be included. By definition, an adaptation cannot simply duplicate the novel.

That may be true however what we've heard in the past indicates this to be true. At the end of the day, if it's made up, that buck falls down to the people who made the claim first.

I agree. When I first saw Clemence Poesy, it was, like, the complete opposite of how I pictured Fleur. I despised Clemence, so to speak.

I really do wonder how they will leave out the wedding and shell cottage, they must include those scenes, and Kingsley's patronus :eyebrows:

That's too bad. She was pretty good. Even though, she was honestly never quite what I had pictured in my head as "Fleur". Maybe if they replace her, they'll get it right this time.

No Fleur? Call me crazy, but what's the point in splitting DH if their not gonna have EVERYTHING..including the wedding.

People people PEOPLE! The report has now been updated, and even if Clemence does not return NOBODY HAS SAID THAT THE CHARACTER OF FLEUR HERSELF IS BEING CUT FROM THE FILM! Keep calm, it's another 2-3 years away, a LOT can change in that time.

I really can't see her making the cut. Another character can easily serve her function in the plot.

Gotta disagree with you again on that point. Without Fleur and Bill and the wedding, Aunti Muriel disappears, along with her fantastic insights into Dumbledore's family, and Kingsley's news of the fall of the Ministry, and Shell Cottage disappears, along with Dobby's burial, talk of how to get into Gringott's, the news of Teddy's birth, all that stuff. You may say that another character can fill the function and that these pieces of storyline could be moved to other areas, if they're left in at all, but I don't think so. And if you cut all that out, then you might as well chop the epilogue to shreds, if THAT'S left in at all too.

The wedding could be substituted with different character. I don't think Muriel is intrinsic and Dumbledore's family will probably be largely glossed over - it's way too complicated for cinema and it contains elements which are far from family friendly. Everything else could be linked into Lupin/Tonks, for example. Cinema audiences have a somewhat larger investment in them. I don't see how the epilogue can be done onscreen, unless they use prosthetics. To end the film series with anyone other than Dan, Rupert & Emma would be anticlimatic. Plus, it was shoddy writing anyway :lol:

But doesn't she play quite a role in DH? Both her and Bill? And then when some of the OtP members stay at their house? :blink:

Yeah but they're once again shorting the bibliophiles like myself by dumbing down the books for mass consumption. And if anything, the wedding's great for bringing Victor back!!!! They're shoving Cho down our throats again in this movie to resolve whatever's left between her and Harry, so they'd better bring Krum back!

It will be interesting to see how they suddenly make Bill and Fleur have their wedding in the DH movie, when so far in the films there has been no sign of Bill Weasley (Well... except for a tiny picture on the Daily Prophet in PoA, the Egypt trip) and as there is no sign of Bill or Fleur being in HBP, they will have to do some good script writing to cover up a whole missed storyline.

But Fleur can be replaced. Fleur can be replaced just like Dumbledore was (RIP Richard Harris) it won't be the end of the world if another actress takes the role. And as many different people have already said, nowhere has it been said the character won't appear, just Clemence won't be taking on the role.

Lets all just get HBP over and done with before we all start having anurisms over the next one.

I hope it's merely the actress that wont be appearing in the film and not the character.... that would completely throw off the plot and I'm so tired of seeing the Harry Potter books being gutted
