Warner Bros' official Harry Potter films Twitter released their seventh character banner for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, this time featuring an anxious-looking Severus Snape standing before the Hogwarts boathouse. That can be found in high-resolution in our galleries.

Alan Rickman, who portrayed Snape in the Harry Potter series for over a decade, wrote a small note for Empire magazine's ultimate celebration on the saga, thanking J.K. Rowling for her work.

I have just returned from the dubbing studio where I spoke into a microphone as Severus Snape for absolutely the las time. On the screen were some flashback shots of Daniel, Emma and Rupert from ten years ago. They were 12. I have also recently returned from New York, and while I was there, I saw Daniel singing and dancing (brilliantly) on Broadway. A lifetime seems to have passed in minutes.

Three children have become adults since a phone call with Jo Rowling, containing one small clue, persuaded me that there was more to Snape than an unchanging costume, and that even though only three of the books were out at that time, she held the entire massive but delicate narrative in the surest of hands.

It is an ancient need to be told stories. But the story needs a great storyteller. Thanks for all of it, Jo.

He actually had me in tears-Alan Rickman, you were a slimy creep in Die Hard, loved you as the Sheriff in Robin Hood (again EVIL knid of like Die Hard villain LOL), and most recently Something the Lord Made cable movie-you are truly one of the greats!!!

I've read that letter a few days ago. It's really touching. I think we all owe Jo our childhood, but I'm still considering after knowing Snape's ending. :(
