Warner Bros has announced that the release date for Half-Blood Prince has been moved up, from the original date of July 17th, 2009 to Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 in the US.

UPDATED: The date change has been confirmed for the United States by Warner Bros. We are currently awaiting word on the UK release.

UPDATE #2: For those of you wondering why this change has occured, The Associated Press spoke to Warner Bros. head of distribution Dan Fellman;

UPDATE #3: A story with Reuters UK further explains the move;

"We just wanted to wait to get a look at the competitive environment before doing it," Warner Bros. president Dan Fellman said Wednesday. "But the last one opened up to $44 million on a Wednesday, so there's certainly no reason not to do it this time."

Well firstly they are a business, that's what they do.

But it was because the Writer's Strike left WB with no summer blockbuster for this year.

That was because of the Easter holidays. It's better to release films when kids are off school.

Yay 2 days earlier! The only problem with that is that I'm probably going to still have to wait to see it on the 17th because my aunt WORKS during the week and we always see the movies together

. Maybe I'll just drag my best friends to see it at the mall

I can't wait! I hope they give us something for the people who are going to watch the midnight show. They at least owe us that!

i hav eto say i'm not surprised, they do it all the time but dont get me rong i love that the movie is closer to coming out but 2 days ant much compared to the 8 mounths it was pushed back but 2 days is better then nothing i gess.
