AOL Moviefone have named Lord Voldemort as their #1 movie villain. He beat fictional figures such as Hannibal Lecter, Darth Vader, The Joker and Cruella De Vil.

nah seriously, Voldie needs to do something a bit more freaky than having two slits for a nose. part of what make Vader such a classic baddie is because under that helmet is a sad, grotesque man languishing in his own personal hell.

I wasn't expecting him to beat Darth Vader, though I personally like the baddie Anakin better than when he became the masked disco guy xD

but Voldie didnt cause his wife's ultimate demise, sabotaging the life he always wanted to have (a family), then getting deep fried, surviving and getting stuck in an iron lung.

although, he was a dismembered form for a long time, but there's very little about him that would get your sympathy. his mother perhaps, but not him. in DH when he's a half mutilated baby creature, you kinda feel sorry for him because of his (soul's) appearance, but not necessarily him. in fact the prevailing emotion was that he was repulsive, and it was entirely his fault.

i cannot even weigh in on this.......I have not been a star wars fan since i was, well, years and years and years ago....but cruella de vil? She is a pretty mean one....

Voldemort turned himself into pure cruel evil. He delighted in terrorizing others and he enjoyed torturing them.

He came in at #1 on the list ahead of Hannibal Lector of Slience of the Lambs, Lord Vader from Star Wars, and Cruella who wanted to make a coat out of the puppies. I guess we all agree that Tom Riddle turned himself into the #1 movie villain.

It was interesting to read that there was another from the HP cast who made the list but not in his HP role. Snape's Alan Rickman made the list of Villains for his portral of Hans Gruber in the first of the Die Hard movies.

All right! The Dark Lord is #1! Good choice, and I am not a bit surprised.

I never thought Darth Vader was a villain, I just thought he was a bit misguided.

I find what you said about the nose pretty funny since in the first movie, Voldemort had a nose, but then it somehow disapeared in Goblet of Fire and so on. XD

The nose disappeared because he was gradually resembling a snake more and more...thru creation of horcruxes thus further splintering his already damaged soul. And turning into the snake...that imagery is very obvious.

I know that it a little impossible but lets just say "GO VOLDEMORT!" =]
