Do you remember the Loganville mother, who claimed that the Harry Potter novels promote witchcraft, evilness, etc.? Well, even though she tried to get them removed from Gwinnett libraries last May - and failed - she's at it again. On May 29th, the Gwinnett Superior Court will hold a hearing to review the decision by the State Board of Education to keep the books in schools. Mallory had originally tried to remove the books from her daughter's school, J.C. Magill Elementary.
Also, I live around the area, so I will be following this story closely in the papers. Make sure you check the news section frequently for updates.

Everyone is entitled to they're opinion. We get some people don't like the Harry Potter books. But we choose what we want to read. If kids in schools like the Harry Potter books, why would she want to take them out of schools just because she doesn't like because of what's in it? If she doesn't like them, she shouldn't read them and should not let her children read them. Can't force others to stop reading them. At any rate, you can't judge a book by its cover (or by what anyone says), right? | |

Okay seriously if this actually does pass that Harry Potter will be taken out of those schools then it will start a big controversy and people will wonder if it should be taken out of all the schools. Geesh. I go to a Catholic school and I admit some of the parents don't let their kids read Harry Potter because they think it's against our religion (a bunch of rubbish in my opinion) but they haven't put up arguments like this to get the books out of our libraries and Harry Potter is probably one of the most books checked out. I mean I think people have a right to which books they can read, it shouldn't be all in the hands of this one woman, right?
