J.K.Rowling thanks readers of The Sunday Mirror

A thank you from JK was printed in the Sunday Mirror today for all its readers support for the cause of torture of Czech children.

Quote:

More than 3,000 of you wrote in demanding action after we revealed how "mentally ill" children in bleak, State-run homes are kept locked up for up to 23 hours a day.

Younger children are kept in "cages" 4ft high. Older youngsters live in 8ft by 3ft cells with bars up to the ceiling.

Ms Rowling, who is pregnant with her third child, said last night: "I am delighted that Sunday Mirror readers have spoken out in such numbers against the use of cage beds.

"I hope this takes us a step nearer the abolition of this dreadful practice."

I can't belive that anyone would even think of doing that to kids. thats really great that jk commented about it.

Yes. That is harsh. I would never do that to anyone. Some people must be pretty stupid to lock children up in cages. But that's great that JK said something about it.

Geez... JK rocks!

lildevil174 10-03-2004 11:33 PM

Wow....I don't believe people would actually do that to little children! What crazy person has enough anger in them to do something like that! How stupid can you get!

She's a great person!

That is just sick and wrong, how would ever lock a child up in a cage? I'm glad J.k. mentioned it, now hopefully it will get the full atention it desearves so it stops for good.

Hermione3000 10-04-2004 01:53 AM

I can't believe the things people do to children. Unbelieveably.

Now there's a celebrity who uses her power well. :)

Not that I agree with this practice, because I do believe it needs to be stopped, but they may not know how to handle these kids, some are hard to deal with. But, honestly, I've been around mentally ill people, some are angry because they know they're different, but most of them are the sweetest things. You guys know what's sad? People keep their own kids kids with nothing wrong with them, locked all day, everyday, in their rooms. There's been kids found who were 12 years old and could not associate with other 12 year olds, because they were never around them. How could anyone do that to anyone? It's sad and the people who do it need to be locked up themselves. Let's hope someone stops it soon.

Its a very terrible act especially when it was approved by the Czech government. But do you really believe that it is going to stop. J.Ks a very strong willed woman but she cant keep an eye on the progress that is being made 24/7. I think that it should not only be the J.K and the public that are on to this but i think that child activist groups should also get involved. I think that it is wrong that they havent got involved yet. J.K cant stand on her own against this terrible crime, even though she has public support, I believe that these groups should do their job and let Joanne get back to her job.

potterxfan04 10-04-2004 11:51 PM

those cage beds really were an awful thing, and im glad that jo spoke up about it!

SiriusManiac 10-12-2004 08:23 PM
