Post J.K.Rowling answers the FAQ Poll

J.K.Rowling has updated her website to answer the question which won the FAQ Poll on her website: What happens to a secret when the secret-keeper dies?

Quote:
When a Secret-Keeper dies, their secret dies with them, or, to put it another way, the status of their secret will remain as it was at the moment of their death. Everybody in whom they confided will continue to know the hidden information, but nobody else.
She also explains the technicalities of a secret-keeper in more detail. Her answer can be read in full here.

Sorry I am being exceptionally thick but I still do not understand..... I want to know if now that the secret keeper of the Order of the Phoenix is dead will
Snape now be able to put the entire order in jeopardy by revealing it, as Bellatrix insists he should?
Some one please repond?

I'm quite sure he won't.

What were the other questions in the poll? I'm just so curious.

um...does that mean if there are new order memebers they cant enter sirius' house?
Everybody in whom they confided will continue to know the hidden information, but nobody else.

Quote:
It would stink if Harry inherited it all but now can't get at it!
Harry already knows where it is so it wouldn't be a problem.

Quote:
So theoretically even if Harry tried to announce to Voldemort where Grimauld place was he couldn't?!
Nope, he couldn't.

Quote:
Does that mean that the Order can't set up their headquaters at Grimmauld Place, because Dumbledore was the Secret Keeper?
They can because they have prior knowledge of its existance.

So let me get this straight -- when the 'original' secret keeper dies, then nobody will ever know the secret, right? I mean, except for the people who the 'original secret keeper' told thesecret to directly. But they too would not be able to pass it on to anyone, right?

It's stated here..

Quote:
In other words, a secret (eg, the location of a family in hiding, like the Potters) is enchanted so that it is protected by a single Keeper (in our example, Peter Pettigrew, a.k.a. Wormtail). Thenceforth nobody else – not even the subjects of the secret themselves – can divulge the secret. Even if one of the Potters had been captured, force fed Veritaserum or placed under the Imperius Curse, they would not have been able to give away the whereabouts of the other two. The only people who ever knew their precise location were those whom Wormtail had told directly, but none of them would have been able to pass on the information.

So if Peter Pettigrew was the Potter's secret keeper, how was Dumbledore able to tell Hagrid where to go to rescue baby Harry? Pettigrew would've had to have told Dumbledore where the Potters were. And, if he did that, then Dumbledore would know that Pettrigrew was the secret keeper, not Sirius. Dumbledore would've also known, therefore, that Sirius was innocent and that Pettigrew was the only one who could've told Voldemort the Potter's location.

My head is splitting.

There a problem with the answer to this question. In book 7 The Order leaves Black's house because they did not know if the house belong to Harry or Bellatrix.
