Brilliant! I love the title in Turkish! 1st to post! |
hey first to post... i eally wanna know the french title coz i read the book in both english and french |
I get the deathly part of the translations. |
Wow...both those titles are interesting... |
Intresting! |
I guess the book might be something to do with death ... Seriously, they make me all giddy and excited. |
As if I could avoid anything with the word 'spoilers' >_< xP I had read about the Swedish one a while ago, but the Turkish one is really intriguing. |
Oh My god! Turkish title is pretty weird when it sounds in Turkish, I won't be able to get used to it but... takdis means very deep indeed. Especially when it's referred to Harry. Anyway I'll just shut up. >_< |
Woah! They are both really articulate titles so I have no idea what they mean! :P |
Interesting titles! |
exciting |
The turkish title is really interesting.... they're all so dark!!!! |
I've said it once, I've said it twice and I'll say it again: I don't like the Portuguese translations. There. *spanks the translators* Is it just me or the titles give away a bit toooo much? =/ |
Very amazing i must say! |
coolness. luvvv it (yet again) |
Interesting titles! |
Ooo...they sound cool! |
The titles are wonderful, and I'm truly excited to figure out what they all mean :D |
How come they get more complex titles than we do?! :P |
Fascinating... |
Hmm...very intresting! |
o.O woahhhh sick! Thoes are so cool cant wait to read the books and find out what's the true meaning of them! (o.o my first thought to the last one was 'all muggles die' X_X ah i hope not lol) |
cool!! |
The Turkish title must be "Ölümcül Takdisler", because Hallows is plural. I think that this unofficial translation (which was published in a newspaper) is wrong. When I was writing news of this title in my site, I had translated the title as "Ölümcül Kutsamalar", Takdis means Kutsama, they mean the same thing. |
Great! Thanks! |
That's pretty interesting, thanks for sharing! =) Can't wait to know the French title though! |
sanctification... what is that supposed to mean? voldemort is to be sanctified? |
That's pretty awesome! I feel sorry for the people that have to wait until November for DH. If I was them, I'd hire a translator to read the book to me. |
yet again, this proves the inadequacies of the English language *sigh* oh well, thanks for the translations, very insightful indeed... |
What?? those don't exactly make sense, and holy cow, the Turkish one, wow I can't even pronounce that word... lmao "A religious ceremony in which something is made holy" of the mortal???? hmm... who could this "mortal" be i wonder???? |
They are all deadish Muhahahah! |
those are kind of cool. |
they all have 2 do w/ death, very cool i like the Swedish/Brazilian one |
the titles are so great!! and interesting.. hmm...makes me really excited.. |
No wonder Jo's never told us what it means. This is soooo sad~ |
I couldn't resist taking a look when I saw the word spoilers..interesting titles though |
I think both those titles are more expressive than the English title |

Very different to our dh title but i like them |
Relics of death.. Interesting... |
I love the Turkish title!! |
Fascinating especially the Turkish title................... |
intrigues me more... sounds really dark  |

Interesting titles! |
Very intersting, nice titles |
omg SOO KOOLLLL CANT 3WAITT NOIW I WANT 2 NO WHO DIESS |
:litebulb:so...are those clues to what DH really is? |
I know this probably sounds really stupid, but I would have thought "Deathly Hallows" would be the universal title of the book. As in, each version of the novel, no matter which language it was in, was translated to say "Deathly Hallows." Am I just being totally clueless in not knowing that all the other novels have different titles depending on their language too? |
No, I disagree. I´m sure Deathly Hallows will play a role in the in the book. It´s impossible not to translate it into languages. Deathly Hallowas aren`t a name like James or Sirius. I don´t think it´s hard to translate because of the words. It´s hard to translate because the context is missing. It´s absolutely no problem to translate it into German. But because Hallows can be things or persons or acts the context is important. |
very interesting titles! |
I like both of those! |
I love them all |
iv looked up 'Hollows, Relics and Sanctification' in the dictionary and they all have the word 'Holy' in their definitions. Very Interesting... |
Interesting. *ponders* This will get me thinking until the book is released |
Here are the LATIN translations for both titles. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows = Harrius Potter et Reliquiae Mortuosae Harry Potter and the Relics of Death = Harrius Potter et Mortis Reliquiae Source: Harry Potter ...Deathly Hallows - Vicipaedia |
