| | | HP Movies are like an English Actor Club! - The Big Interview: David Bradley Summary:
There are not too many men in the world who can say that at different points in their life they have been both God and Jesus. But David Bradley can. Filch in the Harry Potter movies, David is currently appearing in The Night Season in London. Article: Quote: Harry Potter films are becoming somewhat of an English actors club. “It’s a good atmosphere, which is very important. It’s a mixture of old mates from my RSC days in the late 70s and early 80s, and people I’ve never met but always wanted to, like Maggie Smith and the late Richard Harris.” David Bradley, who plays caretaker Argus Filch in the Harry Potter movies, jokes that the HP movies are becoming somewhat of an English actors club, now that actors like Dame Maggie Smith, Zoë Wanamaker, Michael Gambon, John Hurt and Alan Rickman are involved in them.
Bradley also enjoys the luxuries of being in a movie compared to doing stage work: "You get looked after; they come and pick you up in the car, take you down and bring you back home. Then you come and work here and you’re back on the bus!" Click to see Full Story

That's slightly off - Alan is part Welsh, part Irish and part English. Sean Biggerstaff was Scottish. Richard Harris was Irish. Devon Murray is Irish. Robbie Coltrane is Scottish! And I was sure Maggie was Scottish too...(probably my mistake).. And yes before anyone says those countries are a part of the UK too!
I really don't like Hogwarts being referred to as English, it's situated in Scotland.
Meh, he probably wouldn't know that.
I even believe, or think, Rupert was born somewhere near or in Cornwall and people there considered themselves celts (like the Welsh, Irish and Scottish) too. They even have their own language!

hmm he should have said British, though I think he was probably emphasising on the point it was like a refined club.
Maggie smith is English- she is local to meeee

| Hmm, that's overthinking it a little I think. That's pretty amusing about the movie vs. working stage thing. I bet the adults are having just as much fun as the kids are. |

Ah well, I guess he was using English in the very general sense of the term... He probably shoulda said a UK actors club or something of the sort.
Hehe... I enjoy Flich because he is one of the few characters that look EXACTLY like I imagined him.

Are you sure Richard Harris was Irish and not Micheal Gambon? Because I swore that Harris was English. Rupert was born in some town in Great Britain and I saw it somewhere on his website, I think...

You're right, apart from the Cornwall detail. He was born in a town 20 minutes away from my house... he used to live down my best friend's road!
Actually, he might have been born in Cornwall. But for a time, he lived near me.

And Gambon is Irish, just looked him up on IMDB. I am so shocked that he got it wrong :o people over here take not being English, very seriously Quote: You're right, apart from the Cornwall detail. He was born in a town 20 minutes away from my house... he used to live down my best friend's road!

I think its because England is where parliament is, it's where London is and it's where all the cool people live. *sticks hard hat on and hides*
I think its great though that they have such a family working environment, it must make things a little easier on the young actors too. I was going to say child actors but they really are growing up too fast!

I agree, it is like London is the only place that exists in the UK.

Yeah, he should've said 'British Actors Club' or something. HP is a British film, not just English. I live in England but I don't consider HP a English film, when Hogwarts is situated in Scotland and quite a few of the actors involved in HP aren't just English, there are Welsh, Scottish and Irish. Therefore he should've said British which includes them all.
