HBP for under $30 in Australia

A large industry chain has for the first time in Potter history, announced its selling price for the sixth book in the series before the release date.

Dymocks is taking pre-order sales for Harry Potter and the 'Half Blood Prince' for $29.95, well below the recommended retail price of $45.

Dymocks CEO Don Grover said, "There is a high demand for Harry Potter six and people will want to get their hands on it. We thought it was important if customers were going to pre-order the book they should know how much they were going to pay."

$45??? Geez these books ain't nose bleed section concert seats!!! lol

Starbreeze 04-06-2005 06:56 PM

I think they are doing that so ppl don't rush in the store and start fighting for who gets the book first ;)

Laieesha 04-06-2005 08:20 PM

$45 Australian dollars is around $34 US dollars, so it sounds like the price of the DELUXE edition. I only paid $17.99 for the regular book, not the deluxe, but IF that's the price of the deluxe in Australia, then it's cheaper than the US, which is around $42.00 USD...

HermyG_1300 04-06-2005 08:23 PM

wow-how much am i gonna have to pay?!

slythringurl04 04-06-2005 09:14 PM

potterxfan04 04-06-2005 10:57 PM

wow that's expensive.. well not really because if you convert the money it's about the same. but if you didn't, just thinking about it is like "wow.."

gigizelaya 04-06-2005 11:06 PM

Crazee 04-07-2005 02:07 AM

Cool. I think i bought OoTP for around $AU45... Hmm COOL!

And yea, no matter what price, I'll but it none the less! =)

SapphireMisty 04-07-2005 02:43 AM

Wow. That's expensive, $32 US dollars. Ours here, in preorder discount at Borders is 'round $17 US dollars.

Rovie 04-07-2005 07:09 AM

Didn't they do this for OotP too? I'm sure I bought OotP for like $30

But anyways, yay :D I don't really like Dymocks that much XD but I'm sure other book shops would do the same now

Ms Wood 04-07-2005 07:48 AM

how much is that in £ sterling? i would buy it if i had to cut of my right leg and dance the chicken dance to get it!!!

Lupin Jr 04-07-2005 08:22 AM

People need to keep in mind the exchange rate, $30 isn't that bad. I am sure I paid that much for OotP.

*Snivellus* 04-07-2005 08:38 AM

Hm well I'm living in DK so I'll get it there...lol

Anirock 04-07-2005 11:35 AM

wow...
I wonder how much it will be in Romania...

MerrickandRosso 04-07-2005 11:53 AM

I don't really trust Dymocks. I brought my school books from them, and they sent me year seven books, then they sent me year eight books, and I am still waiting for my year ten science book! I'm going to fail this year!

But as for the price, I brought mine from Target for about that, and there were no ques, whereas Dymocks and Angus and Coot)or something like that) had lines running throughout the shopping center.

loony 4 ........ 04-07-2005 04:56 PM

That price wont affect me.

Petrovich 04-07-2005 07:14 PM

Well, that`s good market move, I think. It`s really kind to clients, and they`re going to be the same way to this company, I suppose!
I wonder how much the book will cost in Ukraine......

mione_girlgwp 04-07-2005 09:38 PM

wow...thats expensive...

Dobby_Rox 04-08-2005 12:28 AM

i'm so glad i'm getting mine through the library. i do have to wait though...*whistles*

RupertsGirL 04-08-2005 08:09 AM

whew!

it would probably costs around 2000 pesos here [philippines]....well, i'd still buy it....but it does cost a lot more in australia....oh well, anything for potter.....

Homing Hippogriffs 04-08-2005 10:23 AM

Nearly all of the HP books cost around that price, it depends on how prepared you are to shop around. I'm going to get mine from Target, who sold OOTP hardback for less than 20 dollars a month after it's release.
