HBP for under $30 in Australia A large industry chain has for the first time in Potter history, announced its selling price for the sixth book in the series before the release date. Dymocks is taking pre-order sales for Harry Potter and the 'Half Blood Prince' for $29.95, well below the recommended retail price of $45. Dymocks CEO Don Grover said, "There is a high demand for Harry Potter six and people will want to get their hands on it. We thought it was important if customers were going to pre-order the book they should know how much they were going to pay." Source: The Courier Mail |
$45??? Geez these books ain't nose bleed section concert seats!!! lol |
I think they are doing that so ppl don't rush in the store and start fighting for who gets the book first ;) |
$45 Australian dollars is around $34 US dollars, so it sounds like the price of the DELUXE edition. I only paid $17.99 for the regular book, not the deluxe, but IF that's the price of the deluxe in Australia, then it's cheaper than the US, which is around $42.00 USD... |
wow-how much am i gonna have to pay?! |
hmm.. thats a bit expensive..lol |
wow that's expensive.. well not really because if you convert the money it's about the same. but if you didn't, just thinking about it is like "wow.." |
i would buy harry potter even if it was 100 bucks a book |
$45 dollars!!!! i better start saving mah $$ now!!!! |
Cool. I think i bought OoTP for around $AU45... Hmm COOL! And yea, no matter what price, I'll but it none the less! =) |
Wow. That's expensive, $32 US dollars. Ours here, in preorder discount at Borders is 'round $17 US dollars. |
Didn't they do this for OotP too? I'm sure I bought OotP for like $30 But anyways, yay :D I don't really like Dymocks that much XD but I'm sure other book shops would do the same now  |
how much is that in £ sterling? i would buy it if i had to cut of my right leg and dance the chicken dance to get it!!! |
People need to keep in mind the exchange rate, $30 isn't that bad. I am sure I paid that much for OotP. |
Hm well I'm living in DK so I'll get it there...lol |
wow... I wonder how much it will be in Romania... |
I don't really trust Dymocks. I brought my school books from them, and they sent me year seven books, then they sent me year eight books, and I am still waiting for my year ten science book! I'm going to fail this year! But as for the price, I brought mine from Target for about that, and there were no ques, whereas Dymocks and Angus and Coot)or something like that) had lines running throughout the shopping center. |
That price wont affect me. |
Well, that`s good market move, I think. It`s really kind to clients, and they`re going to be the same way to this company, I suppose! I wonder how much the book will cost in Ukraine...... |
wow...thats expensive... |
i'm so glad i'm getting mine through the library. i do have to wait though...*whistles* |
whew! it would probably costs around 2000 pesos here [philippines]....well, i'd still buy it....but it does cost a lot more in australia....oh well, anything for potter..... |
Nearly all of the HP books cost around that price, it depends on how prepared you are to shop around. I'm going to get mine from Target, who sold OOTP hardback for less than 20 dollars a month after it's release. |
