'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' plays set to cast teen Lily Potter, Rose Weasley

To no surprise, Harry and Ginny's daughter Lily, as well as Ron and Hermione's daughter Rose, will be cast in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Cursed Child plays - but as teenagers. Lily was nine years old in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows epilogue, while Rose was 11 and about to start school at Hogwarts.

An open casting call of teenage girls for the Cursed Child plays was announced last month, and now SnitchSeeker reader Katie, who submitted her CV and headshot for the opportunity, confirmed to SnitchSeeker that the casting was for Rose, Lily and several extras, all teen-aged.

This means that Cursed Child will take place several years after the Deathly Hallows epilogue.

This means that by default and logic, Lily's older brothers James and the titular Cursed Child, Albus, will be teenagers as well, and possibly Rose's younger brother Hugo. The actors cast for the five teenage roles have yet to be announced, though they, as well as Ginny, shall be revealed in due course.

What was it like to be the boy in the cupboard under the stairs? This brand new play, which will be developed for the UK theatre, will explore the previously untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and outcast. Featuring some of our favourite characters from the Harry Potter books, this new work will offer a unique insight into the heart and mind of the now legendary young wizard. A seemingly ordinary boy, but one for whom Destiny has plans...

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Rehearsals for the two-part Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are set to begin sometime in February or March, while the first previews begin in London this coming May.
