Post Half-Blood Prince makes $22.2 million from midnight showings

The box office takings for Tuesday midnight earnings for Half-Blood Prince have been released by the AP today; the sixth Harry Potter film has made $22.2 million domestically (in the US and Canada alone), breaking the previous midnight opening record, held by Warner Bros' The Dark Knight.

We will have more on Half-Blood Prince's box office numbers, both domestic and international, after the first weekend of release, so stay tuned.

Don't feel bad, Kerri. I was one of the only ones that dressed up at the theater I went to...I went all out for Slytherin. Lol. People were taking a lot of pictures. It was so much fun.

The FORK. Be afraid.

YOU'RE WELCOME, WARNER BROTHERS.

I hope they all enjoy their vacations to Bermuda, since they already had enough money last year...

I think if they would've finished with Dumbledore's funeral, it would've closed the movie better...There's a lot I could say but none of its appropriate for this site...

What do we know, though? We're just fans paying for $22.2 million worth of tickets that's essentially lining their pockets.

Sweet! My city didn't have a midnight release, but I'm seeing it tonight! I'm not surprised they made that much money! Dark Knight was awsome too, but HP just RULES!

It would have been cool to go there, but I got to watch it today anyway, and it was awesome (obviously), I thought I saw most of it already, but there was loads of funny stuff I hadn't seen! I wont say my favorite part, incase someone here hasn't seen it already.. But who has seen it, it's in hogsmead (before the Katie thing).

I want to watch it again!

I'm not surprised at all. I went to a theater with 11 simultaneous 12:01AM showings of HBP. There were well over 1,000 people there!

I just saw the movie a few minutes ago and I have to say its the best!!

The funniest part of the movie for me is when Harry taken the Luck potion(can't spell it sorry) and when he said to Slughorn, "SIR?" in the greenhouse.

The cave and death of Dumbledore was AMAZING, they even made Dumbledore say the things when drinking the potion.

Worth the wait. Saw it at midnight and if I was at my home in MO. instead of at my son's home in FL., I'd have seen it again. Plan to see it on Fri. Loved it, it's the best yet!!!!!

My oldest grandson said it is the best movie he's ever seen. I have to agree.
Can't wait to see it again and for the soundtrack to arrive in a day or so.

We went to a theatre that has 20 screens and they told us it was a sellout. I bought the tickets at noon and 7 of of the 20 theaters were already sold out. We got there at 10:45 for th 12:01am showing and are glad we did as the parking lot became a "zoo".

I was kind of disappointed with the romance between Harry and Ginny. That kiss was not a kiss. At least it wasn't what I was expecting. Otherwise, I loved it. It ranks up there with Order of the Phoenix.
