'Goblet of Fire' Wins Sound Editors Award, But Fails to Pick Up Oscar 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' has won a Motion Pictures Sound Editors Award at the 53rd Golden Reel Awards on Saturday at the BevHilton. The film won in the foreign feature film category: 'sound f/x and foley, dialogue and ADR'. You may view more results here. Congratulations to all the winners! UPDATE: Unfortunately, 'Goblet if Fire' failed to pick up the Achievement in Art Direction award at the Oscars this evening, falling to Memoirs of a Geisha. However, it was a good night for Harry Potter stars, as movies starring Brendan Gleeson (Six Shooter) and Ralph Fiennes (Wallace & Gromit) both won honors. |

Just because Harry Potter didn't come home with an Oscar award, doesn't mean it's not as good as the films who won. Diehard Harry Potter fans know the truth - We don't need an award to believe that. However, seeing that Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes both won an Oscar proves to the people out there that Harry Potter has the BEST actors you could possibly wish for. ~Stacey~ :) |

I really hoped GoF would win an Oscar, but at least it was nominated. That's a good thing anyway. Perhaps in future, some of the other Harry Potter films will receive an Oscar. :) |

Congrats to the winners but I wish the Oscars looked more at the Movies that everyday people actually went to see. I don't even think the top movies came to my town and we have a pretty good theatre. MAybe then GOF and others might have a chance at some of the big awards. |
My opinion: GOF is completely sound and digital effects movie. And those people who worked at backscene, should get awards, not the stars. IMHO, though. And certainly I wanted all the actors to win, and some of them did, and that makes me happy!!!!!!! |

Here is my opinion with the Academy Awards... they don't like Harry Potter. Seriously all of the Harry Potter movies always win all these different movie awards. Even awards like Best Movie and Best Actor or actress and everything. But the only Oscars that HP gets nominated for is either for art direction or best original score. And of course they never win but I think they really should of won this year for art direction. I mean the people that do the art direction for Harry Potter have to be so imaginative and creative with everything because there really isn't anyhting in the real world like the sets of Harry Potter. However in the Memoirs of a Geisha there is things like that in the real world and they don't have to be so imaginative or anything. And with the original score like last year I thought that it really was the best music out of all of the other nominations. I mean, just listen to the POA soundtrack sometime and then it is really so awesome but nooo it doesn't get the Oscar. The Academy Awards are wayy too overrated in my opinion. |

hey congrats for an other nomination... yeh ived watched the Oscars and shame GoF didnt win... but for me its a tough competition really between with Memoirs of Geisha and King kong and Harry Potter was like weak if compared...honestly that's my view.... its a shame too John Williams didnt get the Original Score & Brokeback got it...he has like 2 nominations with Munich & Memoirs... and just want to congrats Richard Taylor for winning another Oscar for visual effects! goodness its his 4th yr in winning...with LOTR the past 3 yrs...oh wait there's no LOTR last yr...heehee! :whtflg: |

The Harry Potter Crew should have won more Oscars than they did.I think the Oscars are rigged to be a discriminateing entity.It has become an "Only For Americans" club. Harry Potter will always beat "Hump My Back Mountain" in my opinion. In the beginning the press was all shook up about morality in the H.P. series? Wheres the morality at the Oscars? There is PLENTY of morality in Harry Potter and it is a noble fantasy world book series. |
