| | | 'Goblet of Fire' earns $36million in one day Box Office Mojo reports that ' Goblet of Fire' grossed $36million on its first day of release, which is just $2million behind ' Prisoner of Azkaban'. However, it beat the first day sales of ' Sorceror's Stone' and ' Chamber of Secrets'. |

Not to shabby, I could do some thing with that amount of cash! I was disappointed with the film but all in all I hope they do well. Wonder what everyone’s cut is?

I'm not suprised. I had tickets for the 7pm showing, got there at 6pm saw the line realized we would have bad seats swapped em for the 11:15pm showing and they said get here about 8:00pm. So were tenth in line and waited for three hours. But it was all worth it.

GOF is currently at 101 Million in the US and 181 Million worldwide. It already beat out the US weekend projection of 97 Million and that doesn't include all of Sunday's ticket sales.

I'm not overly surprised that it didn't beat POA. One, POA was released in June. Most kids (and teachers) are out of school by then, whereas in November for GOF everyone is in school. Two, it is a much darker movie than all the others. Although Star Wars EP3 was the darkest, it still did the best of all six SW movies. I haven't seen it yet, but most certainly will sometime this week. Just from the trailers, I can tell it's the best yet. I'm glad it is because book 4 is my favorite along side 6.

I'm surprised it didnt beat POA, because I saw it opening day (got out of school early hehe) and I just saw it again today, and it was by far the best Harry Potter film yet and the best film I've ever seen in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i say that with every Potter film. i can't wait to go see it again. But you know i think the opening weekend numbers will beat POA. the school thing probably did get in the way of the opening day numbers..i cant wait to go see it again in a few days!!!! |

:sorcerer: EVERYBODY: at least someone noticed...none of my fellow HP friends noticed regulus' initials...does ANYONE know his middle name??... i'm not surprised to see that GoF didn't beat PoA to PEOPLE WHO READ THE 4th BOOK AND SAW THE MOVIE: the movie messes up the plot...again PEOPLE WHO WAITED OVER 2 HOURS TO SEE THE 4th MOVIE: i saw the 12:20 p.m. showing AND went to school the next day @8:00 a.m. AND i waited two hours, with math test...i was sooooooo tired...people thought we were crazy(my friend went with...)

| That's not very surprising, when I went to see the movie the day it came out I got there an hour early (late night showing) and the theater was already packed. However, that is really good news! I wonder what contributed to the decline in viewers since Prisoner of Azkaban... |

Well I've seen the movie and it was worth every penny. People in the audience even clapped at the end of it. Surreal.

On Box Office Mojo, early estimates say that GoF has made $100.4 million in the U.S. ($7 million more than PoA, actually) and $80 million internationally on its opening weekend, putting the movie's current gross at about $180 million.
Provided that ticket sales don't drop dramatically during the following weeks, it could make much more than PoA and possibly CoS - around the $300 million mark once it finishes its theatrical run.
