| phantoms_angel | 10-26-2008 01:17 AM | Geraldine Somerville talks more about Lily in a much longer interview
Here are some quotes: It was in 2001's Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone that she first appeared as the boy wizard's mother, Lily Potter.
But Geraldine admits the role isn't as exciting as it seems – mainly because Lily appears to Harry only occasionally from beyond the grave.
"It's really weird, I kind of found it quite frustrating. When I first got the part I was really excited, thinking 'Yessss, Harry Potter's mum, this is going to be great' and then I read the books. 'Oh, OK, so she's dead'.
"It's hard because she's talked about the whole time. It's 'Lily this, Lily that', so I have to kind of be aware of that and what everyone's saying about her, but at the same time, you're kind of just being a thing," she continues.
"She's 'love' really, I mean that's what the whole thing is, he's saved by her love, so she is love and I suppose she's a symbolic figure. It's kind of hard playing a symbol," she laughs, "but interesting. It's been fun."
I'd give you a link to the whole interview but I think it's been taken down. |
