First signed US HBP Sweepstakes

The Associated Press has announced that Scholastic will today announce a sweepstakes to determine which American Library will win the first signed US edition of 'Half-Blood Prince'.

Any library in the 50 United States may mail in an entry by June 30. The winner will be notified on July 1 but will have to keep the news quiet until July 15, when representatives from the library will receive the book in New York. They will only permanently possess it on 12:01 a.m. July 16.

But should library officials think that winning the book would be a windfall, with visions of eBay dancing in their heads, the rules are clear — it can't be sold. It must remain in the library's collection, preferably on display, and probably shouldn't even be loaned out.

Yeah, the New York Public Library got the fifth book signed. When I went there it was on display. Hopefully the next library will do the same.

I think it's cool to have it on display like that. I usually hate going to the library. I just can't stand seeing tattered books, with broken spines and dogs ears.*shudders*

my library should get it. i live in Transylvania Co. I swear! plus, all the librarians are nuts about HP.

waterphoenix1985 06-01-2005 05:47 PM

That would be so cool. I wish we had a bigger library and maybe so younger librarians. Our librarians would never go to New York if they won.

Ebay...seriously people that's just wrong...it could buy me a car though...hmm

What about me? I'd like to win a copy...like I'd ever sell it on ebay that's just tacky...the fans should get a chance to win one too.

I'd build it a shrine and read it everyday for inspiration...LOL or just stare at it for hours...

CedricBlack 06-01-2005 08:11 PM

That's nice. The NY Public Library won last time? Yeah, I doubt it will make it into some suburbian library. *wishes it would though*

Just libraries because they want it to be available to view by many and kept on display.

That's an interesting idea...

Misty Moon 06-05-2005 10:58 AM

It sounds interesting, but i'd rather win it for myself, he he he.
