Post Exclusive video: SnitchSeeker interviews cast & crew at Deathly Hallows NYC premiere

SnitchSeeker attended the New York City premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I this past evening, and got the chance to speak to Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, producers David Heyman and David Barron, and screenwriter Steven Kloves on a variety of subject ranging to the epilogue reshoots this December, their favourite scenes in Part I, and a few spoiler-filled comments (made especially by Barron and Kloves at the end). That can be viewed below (and please pardon my voice).

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released November 19, 2010, and July 15, 2011. Click on the banner below to pre-order tickets for Part I at Fandango. Tickets are also on sale now in the UK; head over to the Harry Potter official UK Facebook for more information.

I'm still very uncomfortable with this Harry/Hermione dance sequence that the whole cast seems to be raving about. I trust David Heyman with the plot but at the same time, my question is the same: why is everyone saying that this Harry/Hermione dance is their favorite scene?

Their relationship is purely platonic in the books but everyone else refuses to see it that way, especially since the film loves to play up the Harry/Hermione angle a lot, which is why I feel a bit unsure as to exactly how they handled it in the film. Even if it was meant to be platonic, do they send out the wrong message with contents of that scene?

I suppose I should wait to judge it for myself, but even then I have a hunch I'm not going to like it.

Two things one someone should really tame Daniel's eyebrows before they wiggle of his face and two I am loving Emma's haircut!! She looks really good with it and I don't usually like boy cuts on girls but she is rocking it!!

And tho I am seeing the film on Saturday *gasp* I am looking forward to it

I don't think they are playing it up because they thing Harry and Hermione will end up together I mean in the book and the last film its made painfully clear that Hermione fancies Ron but for me I think it finally solidifies Harry and Hermione's relationship. It always seemed to me that Harry treated Hermione as just an add on friend. His bond was always stronger with Ron and he was never sure how to react and respond to Hermione. And in the last book without Ron being the bugger between them they were finally able to solidify and cement their relationship as friends. So I think that's why they are making a big deal out this dance scene because it is a pivotal point in Harry's life if you ask me Or at least that's how I see if

I don't think anyone is holding out hope for Harry and Hermione

I agree. And I think the same goes for the Horcrux Harry and Hermione kissing - I hope they don't make it this big romantic thing. It's supposed to be a manifestation of Ron's worst fears. For me, when I read that, it's supposed to be kind of perverted and wrong and disturbing (because of the circumstances, because these two shadows were mocking/taunting/torturing Ron, which takes away, for me, any romantic feel at all, especially when you know Ron's reaction)...and I doubt they're going to make it so...

And they didn't kill Wormtail?! I understand the movie is the movie and they're going to cut things and (unnecessarily) add things, but to change a character's fate? I'm not entirely thrilled with that.

I'm so excited for this film, and I do think it's going to be the best one. But I do have some concerns with how they present some of the story. But I do have to say I'm excited to see the Tale of the Three Brothers because I think David Barron is right - as lovely as Emma is, having her explain it for three minutes is not gonna do it. I think it'll be great to have it animated since it is, essentially, a children's story.

I'm excited, but they better offset this H/Hr nonsense with R/Hr canon.

Shannon

I don't either. It's unneccessary and totally out of character imo. It also hurts the freakin STORY.

the whole point of ron's departure afterwards were to show that ron was def wrong about his fears of harry and hermione. They missed him terribly, and it showed how he was the heart of the trio. they were NEVER happy when he was gone. It's the movies once again slapping ron in the face like they have in the past(final scene of hbp ring a bell?) I'm terrified about the horcrux kiss as well, i just have this feeling it'll be about evil h/hr rather than ron's big BAMF moment.

And why does it have to be something as contrived as a dance? Why can't it just be a moment? Like Harry gives hermione a present or something. Or some other way to make her laugh. Dancing seems too suggestive. And not realistic at all for harry and hermione.

And wtf at the cast members fav scene being THIS? Out of all the scenes in DH, this was their fav? Well except for rupert, who chose the 7 potters. I guess he understands the characters better than others do.

I haven't scene the movie yet, but I know I'm not gonna like it. Yates said he had to 'Fight JKR" to put this in the movie. Of course, because she knew how out of place the scene was.

But after seeing the scene, I really like it! It's just so cute and not uncomfortable for anyone at all. So I am kind of in love with the dance scene, too.

Only 1 day and 2 hours left until watching the movie! AHHHH!!! That's going to be absolutely amazing!
Thank you for posting this! I feel a little better hearing it from someone who has a) seen the film, and b ) obviously, is concerned with canon.

I know Emma said that some of the crew were even uncertain about the scene, so I was really trepidatious upon hearing about the scene. I understand the thought process about innocence and light within dark. But in the books, Harry and Hermione are devastated after Ron leaves. Hermione "cried for days," and the both of them were so affected, they wouldn't even speak his name. Plus, Harry and Hermione have plenty of bonding moments in canon without adding a scene that could easily be misconstrued by people as romantic. I'm just a little irritated. But I will wait to see it in the movie like you did so I don't upset myself prematurely.

I have seen the movie so SPOILERS below! DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED (in terms of the Harry/Hermione dance scene).

After Ron leaves, Hermione is devastated. Emma did a really good job in portraying that and there are scenes where her and Dan don't talk. Harry has obviously taken notice to Hermione's depressed state, and without any words he takes her hand and dance. The scene is touching as well as amusing. The dancing plainly shows their relationship is truly platonic, and Dan does a really good job in being awkward and funny in trying to make Hermione/Emma laugh. However, the dancing slows down after a while and once again you feel Hermione's depression. It wasn't like they danced and now they were completely fine with Ron being gone, but for a moment Harry was able to make Hermione smile before she remembered again that Ron's gone.

God, I'm such a sucker for spoilers. It's like a disease.

BUT THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!! This puts my mind at ease. Thank you so much. I just really want them to do it justice - just how much of an impact Ron leaving had on them. SO THANK YOU!

ANYway, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. I really think it's going to be the best one yet. I've heard it's the closest to the books since the first two, and their performances are no doubtedly going to be the best. I'm really excited.

I'm not worried about the dancing scene at all, i really don't think the point is to make it look like there are any kinds of romantic feelings between Harry and Hermione and i definitely believe that the pain Harry and Hermione felt after Ron left will be shown. It'll turn out to be a good scene. A lot of fans are worried about it which is totally understandable, but i believe they've handled it well and we have nothing to worry about.

But one thing i definitely don't understand is the thing Steven Kloves was talking about. The people who've watched the video will know what i mean. Actually that wasn't a new thing to me as i'd known it for quite a long time, but i don't quite know what to think about it... although the ending of the video gives me hope and i'm not too worried yet.

I was somewhat put-off by their decision to not kill Wormtail as well, but I guess for the film it might work out.

I'm interested, though in how their depiction of the Peverell brothers will go as being animated, hm, should be interesting.

The dance scene, at first I was thinking of it being too romantic, but after reading some of the posts about it I think it wont be too romantically implying.

So excited though!! Woo midnight screening tomorrow.

I liked the Hermione/Harry Dance, and for those who haven't seen the movie yet, don't worry about them trying to ship Harry/Hermione. That's not what they're doing at all. It's just a little glimmer of some fun while so much chaos is happening around them. And it was beautiful.
