Exclusive: Moaning Myrtle not in Half-Blood Prince
 

A few days ago we got in touch with Hamilton Hodell, the agency that represents Shirley Henderson, who plays Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films. It has been confirmed to us that the character hasn't made it into Half-Blood Prince.

Half-Blood Prince opens November 21st.

*stares blankly* Moaning Myrtle not in the movie, was she even in the book? Oh and I can't reread the book right now, it's packed up. :cry:

Moaning Myrtle consoles Draco--and that's who's with him when Harry encounters Draco and the whole sectumsempra thing happens.

Ohhh yeah, I knew that, lol. I forgot all about that scene and that's bad since it was my favorite, lol. Ohh it's a shame she's not in the movie.

Oh! Thats so sad, I really liked her.

Again disappointing - this movie is going to have something from the book isn't it? besides the name?

Every thing we've heard so far is how different from the book the HBP movie will be. No Scrimgeour, Fleur, Bill, v. little Tonks & now Myrtle?

She was in the Sectumsempra scene with Draco & Harry. I think this bit will be in the film without her, though. Well, I hope O.o

Yes :lol: lots from the book, it's just we're hearing a lot of negative stuff because Warner Brothers aren't releasing any information because of embargoes and stuff being promised to certain outlets/publications etc... So we're only able to report on what isn't in the film, which paints a worse picture than what's actually the case.

oh well movies can't put everything written in the books....still misses her part though

Hmm. I suppose it's not necessary to have her in there. Although, if you follow that reasoning, they could have left her out of GoF. They're so random sometimes.

they can do the sectumsempra scene w/out her if they had to. Rather they cut her than someone or something more important.

I can understand why they left her out.
the whole sectumsempra thing (on film) can look kinda bloody and messy.
I'm not sure if they wanted to add that... Adding it may upgrade the movie from a rated PG movie to a PG13. And we have to remember that there are alot of little kids who admire harry potter. I personally think that They should stay true to the book.

Is it me or is warner brothers really messing up this movie

Hmmm...this is a little distressing. I hope they still have the crying scene with Draco and it makes sense.

I really dont mind this, my opinion is that MM annoys me >.< So Im kinda glad.

Excellent point about the rating and the fact that kids still see the movie.

she isnt essential but i wonder if they are still doing the sectusempra (SP) scene

I really wanted to see that sectumsempra scene.

Hate to see so many characters cut that were in the book, but what can you do? We know the filmmakers always have a tendency to do this. It's sad, but just the way it is. This is why the books are so much better than the films! (Not to say that the films are not worth seeing, they are. But you know what I mean!)
