Exclusive: Confirmed two teenage Tom Riddles in Half-Blood Prince

Contrary to recent rumors and according to a verified source on set, Michael Berendt, who we told you last week will be playing Tom Riddle at age 18 in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will not be replacing actor Frank Dillane, who was cast as Tom Riddle at age 16.

So what will Berendt be doing in the film as 18-year old Tom Riddle? His role merely consists of a pair of hands stealing the Hufflepuff cup – that's it. The actor has no dialogue and no face time on screen.

Patronus Charm 06-27-2008 04:04 PM

oh well, that actor can still say he was in an HP movie. first to post after the crash!!!

Potter for Minister 06-27-2008 04:04 PM

Ummmmm...o.k. That's good I guess!

Hermionespell 06-27-2008 04:06 PM

That's good then. :)

Steelsheen 06-27-2008 04:14 PM

Kiki_Potter_103 06-27-2008 04:30 PM

OceanBaBY 06-27-2008 04:46 PM

Hmm.. why couldn't they use the 16 year olds hands?

Ms.Malfoy 06-27-2008 04:55 PM

thats just wierd! why not use the 16 year olds hands?

Hermione Granger101 06-27-2008 05:17 PM

wow-interesting!!~

Padie 06-27-2008 05:26 PM

That's... weird. They could just bug every cast member to get the hands they wanted but okay XD

Shanners 06-27-2008 05:28 PM

hmm odd.

couldnt the 16 years olds hands be used. they would be more youthful :P

lotrfrk11 06-27-2008 06:18 PM

Yay SS is back.

Two actors for two years age difference?
... welll whatever.

Blackened 06-27-2008 06:27 PM

That is one of the oddest things I've heard yet with regard to the movies. Why, oh why, don't they just use a cast/crew member's hands, or the 16-year-old's?

cgold 06-27-2008 06:50 PM

Weird.

Lily Evans 06-27-2008 07:35 PM

wow! a great role I hope he can handel it is so much responsability on that role: a pair of hands!! wow!! now he is my fav actor....hahaha :D

But talking seriously hands are hands, aren't they?? what was the problem with Frank's hands??

Weird!! :)

Kazters 06-27-2008 08:38 PM

Melted 4 HP 06-27-2008 09:34 PM

lmao I Just finished watching Zoolander.

Eclipsed 06-27-2008 10:09 PM

Erm, so what was wrong with using a 16 year old's hands instead?

Little Trooper 06-28-2008 12:01 AM

Right, what ever floats their boat I guesse

Emiko 06-28-2008 12:09 AM

That's a bit ... odd. I'm sure they could've just went and picked some random person to be "The Hands". I don't really see why they had to get another Tom Riddle just to do a scene that would probably take a few moments to get through.

MUSTANG SALLY 06-28-2008 12:18 AM

Wow....

I dont know if I would be irked or if I would think that was kool...

:hmm:

Darkpsychosis722 06-28-2008 01:50 AM

wow that kinda sux. At least he can say he was in a popular film .....

Mari of the Ocean 06-28-2008 02:14 AM

mmmmm okayyyyyyyyyy

Emma C.D. Watson 06-28-2008 02:42 AM

:hermy: it kinda is a slap in the face...cuz why cast an actor..if they're gonna use his hands only?silly..they can use some one's hands..and make do!

fabula puella 06-28-2008 03:19 AM

ok......weird, seriously

Pigwidgeon Took 06-28-2008 06:37 AM

Lol I suppose it's better than nothing!!!! :xd:

pixie-cvdm 06-28-2008 07:14 AM

well at least his hands get to be in the film jaja :D

half_blood_prince 06-28-2008 07:14 AM

wow at least he has a part in the film

werewolfinlove 06-28-2008 07:15 AM

what's wrong with the other dudes hands?

Ginevra 06-28-2008 07:17 AM

Er...how interestingly odd.

R&Hr 06-28-2008 10:09 AM

ok..whats the point of that? i'm nut hands will change from the age of 16-18..

HalfBloodPrincess 06-28-2008 10:29 AM

I don't understand why they have to drag some 18-year old in to show his hands for one second.
They could've used anyone elses hands - someone already in the film for example!
Ah well.. (:

Jaylie 06-28-2008 03:42 PM

Whatever happened to Christian Coulson?

HarryThePotter 06-28-2008 03:50 PM

Christian is 30 now, way too matured to be playing a 16 or 18 year old.

come to think of it, he could play the 18 year old Tom Riddle, since all they needed were a pair of hands ;)

puffy 06-29-2008 07:10 AM

well,thats kinda weird.why not use the 16 year olds hands?or crew's hands?

Mrs Felton 06-29-2008 02:03 PM

They better be good looking hands!! Hmm I wonder how much you get paid to have your hands in a HP film..

expectopatronum 99 06-29-2008 02:48 PM

curiuos but still better to be in a HP film than not. still can't understand why Michael's getting a credit for his hand-y work! LOL!

K33P0NR0CK1N 06-29-2008 08:32 PM

That's good! I honestly didn't think that actor would be good as the 18-year old Tom Riddle. If I were him and he knew they'd only be using his hands in the movie, I wouldn't have accepted the role. He probably only accepted for the money.

He would probably cost too much. Let's face it, with an actor that experienced, it would be an insult (a total waste of his time).

Stranger things have happened.

Mrs_Molly_Weasley 07-01-2008 12:36 AM
