Emma Thompson not reprising Trelawney role in Deathly Hallows
 

Actress Emma Thompson has confirmed that she will not reprise her role as Divination professor Sybill Trelawney in the Deathly Hallows films, as they would conflict with her working schedule for next year.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released in November 2010 and May 2011.

NOOO!!!!! She is so awesome at the role. I can't imagine anyone else doing it!

Hmm. She only appeared in DH for a moment (right?... throwing crystal balls around during the end...), so I'm not terribly hurt [:/] Considering that, they probably won't bother recasting Sybil.

Too bad she won't be coming back; however, she really didn't have a big part in DH anyway. I only remember her throwing crystal balls to the death eaters and the warewolf, right? Anyway, she was great when she appeared in HP.

Hopefully they will just cut the whole scene out. I love the Nanny McPhee movie so I can understand her desires.

Well, it's rather insulting and sad that the said the Nanny things "mean much more" to her. She will be missed greatly!

Well all she does is throw crystal balls at people in DH, she doesn't have that big of a part.

I don't think it matters much because its such a small part in the book.

Awww I love Emma Thompson.I know her part in the movie/s would have been small,but she does light up any scenes she's in.

This is really unfortunate and upsetting. Nanny McPhee- I haven't seen the first one because it looked like a fake Mary Poppins, and I don't see why on earth it would have a sequel.

But then again, I wold have never expected Madagascar to ahve a sequel.

Can't say I'm surprised, really. She didn't have much of a role in the 7th book, and if they cut out her part in HBP, I can certainly see her being cut out of DH.

Nanny McPhee? I absolutely love that film!!! I assume they're making a sequal or something... And I don't really care that she's not in HP7. They never give the adult actors enough screentime anyway so it's not even a big deal.

Speaking of Mrs. Thompson, she was on the US show Ellen today!!! But she didn't talk about her role as Sibyl. She was talking about her kids and her new movie. :(

Hmmm well I understand where she's coming from because she probably wouldn't ahve had that much screen time in DH anyway and shes like the main character in Nanny McPhee. But still I'd rather they not have Trelawney at all than have some one new<_<

she played an awful Trelawney, in some cases being the worst actor in the film. her take on it seemed to be 'how much can i ham this up'?I enjoy her work normaly, so perhaps it's because the character wasn't written so well in the screen play.

Trelawney doesn't do anything of significance, so I can't see them re-casting her.

I don't think so. After all, she writes those scripts, so obviously it's going to be of higher importance to her.

Sounds like it was hers. Though really, she doesn't do anything of consequence in Deathly Hallows, so her part being eliminated wouldn't cause problems. As for the scripts, I think the first is ready.

I assume she means a sequel.
