Deathly Hallows: Part I weekend box office: $125.1 mill domestic; $205 mill intl

Warner Bros issued a press release updating on the box office records for this weekend's release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. On the domestic sale (U.S. and Canada), Deathly Hallows: Part I took in an estimated $125.1 million, the best opening for the series so far, overtaking the previous record-holder, Goblet of Fire by 23 percent. Warner Bros' Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, had this to say on the box office numbers:

Quote:

Fellman stated, “This is truly a motion picture phenomenon, and it is just the beginning for the penultimate release of the franchise. Based on the response to the film, we anticipate its success to carry on throughout the holiday season and beyond. It demonstrates once again the enduring power and popularity of Harry Potter.”

Kwan-Rubinek added, “We are thrilled by the enthusiastic response of international audiences. It’s a testament to the extraordinary vision of J.K. Rowling; the talents of the filmmakers, cast and everyone involved in the production; and to the hard work of our distribution and marketing teams around the world.”

I'm so glad it did well! But I knew it would, the film was absolutely spectacular! :D I can't wait to see it again, the midnight showing was definitely worth the 2 hours of sleep I got

Bellatrix_Lestrange 11-21-2010 09:53 PM

Hp7 breaks records!

So glad I contributed to those $125 M, I remember opening night, a lot of people where dressed as Death Eaters, and some where dressing casual, with their wands at hand, just like Harry, Ron and Hermione. The movie is simply Awesome, but I'll post my review later... I took the whole family & some friends, and hopefully next week I'll see it with my brother AGAIN!! YAY!!:woot:

By the way, I really had to put this up, I loved the ending, it left you astonished and scared knowing Voldemort got the Elders Wand and he is about to become a more higher powerful force, much darker and evil than before...

JackW092 11-21-2010 09:59 PM

Cool! Good to know that I helped them earn that much money! I loved the film :pfd:

Nia 11-21-2010 10:07 PM

hermionesclone 11-21-2010 10:44 PM

OMG! :faint: Ooh! That's great! Absolutely brilliant! I'm so happy to have contributed to that! :woot: I really want to watch it again! The film was brilliant so it's no wonder that it made that much! It's still a lot though!

Hermionespell 11-21-2010 11:30 PM

Wow, that's definitely a lot of money, but that's exactly what WB wants. :)

*pumps fits into air* OH YEAH, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! :D Love HP, as the does the rest of the world. I'm sure I'm not the only one saying that this movie, in the first few days, has made more money than all three Twilight movies ;P teehee HP FTW!!!

off course it would beat records!!!

emilykirstyn 11-22-2010 02:26 AM

fantastic!
i saw it again today (in addition to opening night) and i couldn't believe the diversity in the audience. the youngest was probably 10 and the oldest probably 75!
i'm looking forward to seeing it for a third time with my dad & sister. (:

r33nbluebottle 11-22-2010 03:38 AM

I know this movie will be a very huge hit!Congratz!i know it'll harvest more in this coming days!

HogwartsHokage 11-22-2010 04:35 AM

Hopefully I can contribute to that when I see DH two days from now...

I've heard about DH not being able to beat Eclipse for making the most money during opening weekend or something like that. Great for Eclipse, but I just wish people would stop comparing HP to Twilight, even financial-wise. HP has broken a lot of records before, it's still one of the best-selling franchises ever, AND lots of people still love HP as always. Money doesn't always make the world go round, you know! <_<

Okay, my tiny rant is over. :)

possummink 11-22-2010 05:11 AM

Wow, I am so glad. I have already seen it 3 times. Loved it and plan on seeing it many more times.

OtterySt.Catchpole 11-22-2010 06:33 AM

It's all because of Ron ... he should be our next Action Movie Star... or Jimmy Olsen

Ottery: Wow that's not a lot of money, do you think they'll greenlight the sequel?
*Teddy beats Ottery with his own sarcasm*

Ottery: And now ... what? There will never be another 7-part series made in 8 movies series this awesome ever!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111
*Teddy beats Ottery with his own sarcasm*

LOL

Seriously, if you didn't see this coming ... I have to say though I'm sad to see it all coming to an end. And a few people I know saw it 3times alone so ... is it any wonder the movie is making so much money? LOL Wait until the kids are out for Thanksgiving ... :gasp:

bonnieginnyfan1 11-22-2010 06:49 AM

This is brilliant news! :woot: I really think Part 2 will go like this or even more! :woot:
