Deathly Hallows 2 passes Sorcerer's Stone as top-grossing Harry Potter film in U.S.
 

The box office numbers for the weekend of July 29-31 are in, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has surpassed Sorcerer's Stone as becoming the highest-grossing Harry Potter film in the U.S. and Canada. The domestic take of Sorcerer's Stone after its theatrical run in 2001-2002 was an estimated $317.6 million; as of Sunday, July 31, 2011, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 brought in $318.6 after 17 days of release, with its numbers set to go higher as it continues its run.

For this weekend, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 came in fourth place in the domestic box office, bringing in an additionally $22 million dollars, and has well past the billion-dollar mark in takings worldwide - the ninth to do so all time.

Seen the film 7 times in IMAX. The technique I have is seeing it with friends one by one to keep a steady stream... Invite their non-mutual friends and watch it with more than 3 people twice a week... ^^, Go HP!

I don't think so... Avatar has almost 3B and its timing with the 3D boom was excellent. This time more people arent willing to go for 3D or IMAX. I'm just hoping it can top Titanic. but we won't lose hope that'll top Avatar. We have :snape2: after all.

i heard somewhere that the money made by both HPDH2 and avatar at about 2 weeks from open day were about the same.
