Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, & Emma Watson talk Christmas family traditions

While promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I earlier this year, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson revealed some of their Christmas traditions with family at home.

Quote:

Daniel Radcliffe has a smaller gathering. “The whole family—it’s only a small group of us, really—get together and that’s it. I’m always at home for Christmas. My only holiday wish this time is that England goes to Australia and win The Ashes (a cricket series). I’ll be staying up late quite a lot more to hopefully watch them win.”
Quote:

“I usually do the shopping at the last minute.” Rupert Grint claims that it’s a pretty conventional Christmas in the Grint household. “We usually have a routine and we’ve stuck to that for the whole of my life. I have a massive family. We just stay at home. It’s good to get everyone together. It’s a good time.”
Quote:

“We have a proper log wood fire in my living room that really gets me in the Christmas mood,” “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson. “And we have mince pies. That’s a very English thing. If you’ve never tried one, mince pies are absolutely delicious. You must have a mince pie.”

“We always watch really good Christmas-y films by Richard Curtis like ‘Love Actually,’ ‘Bridget Jones’ and ‘Notting Hill’ or old BBC dramas like ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ I always play Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby’s Christmas album which is great ... I curl up with my cats. I’m a cat person.”

KatielovesHP 12-23-2010 10:18 PM

Emma's is most like mine but I don't have a log fire:P *envious*
Bing and Frank at Christmas!!:woot:
Mince Pies are brilliant:D

Steelsheen 12-23-2010 10:25 PM

yeah playing Christmas Classic tunes is also a tradition in our household. nothing newer than 25 years back:lol: unless its from John Williams ;)

and Emma's lacey dress :loved:

silver_gitana4 12-23-2010 10:38 PM

I love Bing Crosby and Sinatra.
 I wonder what she thinks now about watching 'love actually' with Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman.

watsontwins 12-23-2010 10:55 PM

I completely agree with Emma, one should have Mince Pies. They are maybe the most bestest thing for the whole christmas treat section. definitely.

DragonStar 12-23-2010 10:56 PM

Haha I am the same as Rupert..I always buy at the last minute.

Butterbeer7 12-23-2010 11:16 PM

Nice interview..

insanelysyd95 12-24-2010 02:47 AM

They cut this out, but if you read the rest of the official article, they call Rupert the "carrot-haired actor." It literally took me about five minutes to stop laughing.
I also now call my ginger best friend "my carrot-haired actor" because she's a ginger and an actress :)

Debbie Weasley 12-24-2010 03:11 AM

I wonder if Rupert's family is anything like the Weasleys :)

Patronus Charm 12-24-2010 03:30 AM

Lady of Light 12-24-2010 03:49 AM

possummink 12-24-2010 06:03 AM

Taiya89 12-24-2010 01:04 PM

My Christmas is just like Dan and Rups...I only finished shopping today!

Mince pies are DISGUSTING!

Canoir Greengrass 12-24-2010 01:17 PM

Sadly, I haven't tried mince pies before.

Cassiopia Malfoy 12-24-2010 06:52 PM

Ha! I have to pass it on to my friend that she's not from the only family that does last minute shopping! The Grint's do!

And Emma's Christmas sounds like so much fun!

And good luck with the team winning Dan! I'll keep my fingers crossed xD

JackW092 12-24-2010 07:38 PM

My Christmas is like Rupert's! We have stuck to the same routine every year and buy most presents at the last minute

Team ronmione 12-24-2010 08:35 PM

I sound the most like Rupert- shopping last minute, getting stuck with what to get my brothers and parent. And just my family, so we all stay at my house.
Dan is so funny, I hope his team wins so he can have a merry christmas
Emma-I must try Mince Pies now. Thanks for the recommandation

Paint.the.Limelight 12-25-2010 01:04 AM

BearyMay 12-25-2010 01:13 AM

All of them sound great :)
Mine is mostly like Emma's.. Without the mince pie though.. ;)

SlytherinX_Green 12-25-2010 06:28 AM

We just sit around and watch my dad trip over the presents under the tree as he tries to hand them out.

lauray 12-25-2010 09:18 AM

I have never tried a mince pie but they do sound scrumptious and i disagree with Daniel i hope that Australia win even though i'm not really into cricket.

ThePastelBookworm 12-25-2010 09:44 AM

The_dous 12-27-2010 04:52 PM

An old x-mas tradition at our house when we were younger was my dad bought those toy guns that shot those little yellow rubber balls. we went around the house (my dad, mom, sister, brother and me shooting at each other like it was the OK Coral until we were to tired to do it anymore. It was a blast!!! My dad always keep the shotgun for himself and preloaded his ammo before we got ours. Great stuff!! We would find those little yellow balls all over the house for months and months. It was impossible to find them all. Doug in Michigan.

Seranya 12-28-2010 12:01 AM

That's why I like these guys ^^ They're so down to earth and casual despite everything that has happened to them. They're just amazing people.
I wish I had a real fireplace at my home :(

princess of*hp* 12-29-2010 06:59 AM

Ah, always Dan and his cricket. :xd:

elllla_Wtwins 12-31-2010 10:30 PM

hha emma is brilliant!
mine is like daniel's.. there were 13 of us squashed into my grandma's small house this year! it was fab ahah.

AlbusSeverus 01-01-2011 11:00 AM

I agree with Daniel that England should win the ashes in Australia.

StephanieRound 01-04-2011 08:55 PM

I didn't even realise mine pies where an English thing...I thought everyone had them.
They're scrumptious, I love them...did you know it's actually Illegal to eat a mince pie on Christmas day...it's a law that's left over from when Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas. lol

BlueLaceAgate 01-09-2011 09:45 PM

I enjoyed reading about their holiday traditions. Very nice.
