Bill Nighy cast in Deathly Hallows
 

Actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean) has confirmed that he will play a good guy in the Deathly Hallows films, although he will not reveal the name of his character. Bill had this to say:

He has admitted that he has not read the books yet, though:

David Yates said two years ago that he first wanted Bill for the role of Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour in Half-Blood Prince, but the part was cut from the final draft of the script. However, there is no proof at the moment that Bill may have been cast as the Minister. We will have more on this as the story develops.

omg that's so frustrating, not knowing who he's gonna play...but who is he??? what character does he play in Pirates of the Caribbean?

ohh, he's Davy Jones...what's up with his glasses? Why does he keep holding them?? lol he'd make a good Scrimgeour...with make-up lol

Haha. I agree with Emma that he will be Scrimgeour. Or at least, I hope he will be! He certainly has that gruff look about him, doesn't he? And in Love Actually, he definitely played a...uhh...gruff character.

Luna's father has already been cast; he's being played by Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.

I doubt it; his professional relationship with David Yates has lasted much longer than that (they've done several projects together).

Though, whatever role he gets I'm sure he'll be grand. He was wonderful in POTC.

He played Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean! I'm sure that he will be awesome as who ever he will portray in Harry Potter!

Isn't this old news? I thought he was already confirmed, but i don't remember who he was playing. I definitely remember discussing him.

I loved BN!! He was indeed Davy Jones- bad bad guy!!! Was scary as all get out as the slimy octopus creature!! I remember the first time I saw his character (POC Dead Man's Chest) I had to keep looking away from the screen! LOL Hmmm I think it could be Scrimgeour- does he look like a lion? ;-)

He should definately play Scrimgeour!

I think he would be an AWESOME Scrimgeour, if that is the part he got. Which I'm pretty certain it is, cause I can't think of many other characters we haven't cast yet that he could play :lol:

Not at all; he's said over the years that he'd love to be in the movies, and Yates even had him lined up for Scrimgeour at first, but nothing was confirmed until today.

AWESOME!! Yates said he was going to cast him, so I'm not surprised! I wonder if she's playing Scrimgeour like what was originally planned!!! SO AWESOME!! He was so good in Pirates of the Caribbean and Love Actually! Can the HP movies cast anymore more brilliant actors? Seriously! We've pretty much gotten all the greats at this point. :cheers:
