Alternative titles for Book 7? UPDATED

Harry Latino.com is reporting that Deathly Hallows was registered with the U.K. Patent Office on Dec. 5, along with Deadly Veil and Heart of Ravenclaw. It is possible that these are the other two alternative titles J.K. Rowling was considering for Book 7.

Just as a side note, the patent site also lists the titles of Harry Potter and the Hallows of Hogwarts and Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Hallows which were submitted back in July of 2003 (both these titles were withdrawn, however).

Also of note, the Dutch title for Book 7 is Harry Potter en het Fatale Heiligdom, which means Harry Potter and the Deadly Shrine/Sanctuary.

So what does all this mean? Could the veil or the Ravenclaw Common Room be horcrux hiding places? Is there a deathly shrine somewhere in Hogwarts castle? Let the speculations and theories begin …

UPDATE: A spokesperson for J.K. Rowling has stated that both Heart of Ravenclaw and Deadly Veil were “never contenders” for the title of Book 7.

Quote:

We often registered a few spares to keep people guessing! Whether Jo reveals what her two other favorites were, I don't know.
There are 24 HP titles registered with the patent office (the first five are the most recent, being listed on Dec. 5, 2006. They are:

Heart of Ravenclaw
Deathly Hallows
Deadly Veil
Demon's Sword
Quest of the Serpent
Grey Lady
Heir of Gryffindor
Lost Sceptre
Broken Wand
Gryffindor Quest
Peverell Quest
Wand of Gryffindor
Ring of Destiny
Elder Wand
Revenge of Dumbledore
March of the Death Eaters
Return of the Dark Lord
Curse of Nagini
Last Prophecy
Hallows of Hogwarts
Mudblood Revolt
Seventh Horcrux
Wand of Grindelwald

I bet you anything one of the horcruxes lay within Hogwarts. I have been thinkin' that for a while now JK has me thinking its in the Ravenclaw area. But theres no way to be sure. I just can't wait untill it comes out!

Justkickit 12-24-2006 06:15 PM

Eeeii, this is awesome. I like Hallows of Hogwarts, but they all sound good, apart from Deadly Veil. That does sound okay, it just sounds a bit fake.

Whoa, that makes sense with the Graveyard theory, yay.

Thankies Mucho's for the news!

hermione1994 12-24-2006 06:15 PM

Ooh,I wish that the book would come out soon!!!

chowderHPfanatic 12-24-2006 06:24 PM

*SQUEE!* this open up a whole new door for us fans to speculate!

I am definitely glad JK decided to stick with Deathly Hallows! The other ones seem too.... simple. Not mysteries enough.

Rebel 12-24-2006 06:47 PM

um..very intersting...well we will just have to wait for the book :)

griffin_girl 12-24-2006 06:47 PM

O.M.G.

:faint:

maybe its Ravenclaw's tombstone!!!! what?! it could happen!!!

emmawatson-fan4eva 12-24-2006 07:01 PM

Ooh maybe Ravenclaw created a secret chamber like Slytherin did, and maybe there's a horcrux there! Ooh and that leads to my other suspicion that there might be a horcrux in the Chamber of Secrets!

Wayfarer 12-24-2006 07:08 PM

I just finished re-reading HBP and it hit me that one of the Horcruxes would be hidden in the same "catheral" like room that Harry hid Snape's Advance Potions book. One theory it is the teiria he used to mark the spot and my theory it is the bloody battle axe.

sweetbaby 12-24-2006 07:11 PM

Hmmm, we dont here much about ravenclaw, book 7 probably reveals something about ravenclaw

Abby Radcliffe 12-24-2006 07:15 PM

Wow:jump: , this sounds very interesting, I do beleive they could be a hidden Horocrux in Hogwarts:yes: but I just don't know where. I guess we will have to wait for the book.
Seriously I can't wait!!! :chrleadr:

nicola calvert 12-24-2006 07:42 PM

Well all this in consideration i think that she chose the best title!:) the other two are just wrong, mind you i still think there is somthing else going on here, a hidden shrine in hogwarts? a hiddern horcrux? i don't know whatever JK is planning it sounds big. And i stick to what i have said all along, i don't mind what she calls it, how long it is, or what the reviews say, as long as she explains everything and leaves us wanting more, i'm going to be one happy customer!:D Bring on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!
Nicola

lightstar1154 12-24-2006 08:05 PM

JKR missed her chance to put the best Hogwart's house in the title! I can't believe it. :(

hehehehe...

*runs and hides*

Kitty Loves Steps 12-24-2006 08:13 PM

Ooo I wonder if this could be true? I don\'t really want to talk about it as none of what anyone has said goes along for the theories I have for the last book :xd: *Sits in a dark room till the book is released to the world*

Fortune_Cookie 12-24-2006 08:27 PM

Hmmm, that is certainly very interesting...

Nightingale 12-24-2006 08:32 PM

interesting...i feel so sneaky...

Agos* 12-24-2006 08:39 PM

Wow, that\'s interesting! Now I\'m intrigued!

OtterySt.Catchpole 12-24-2006 09:13 PM

High Holy Saints Batman ... more titles ...

It\'s got me thinking back to PoA and how she wouldn\'t let Cuaron film the Hogwarts graveyard ... and the dutch title implying that it\'s a sanctuary ... and what the devil with Ravenclaw House???? Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. The plot thickens ... just like my tomato soup when I put bread in it

I have to admit though ... I like this one best ...
