15 second Half-Blood Prince trailer attached to The Dark Knight in IMAX
 

IMAX.com has confirmed that there will be a short 15 second trailer for Half-Blood Prince attached to the forthcoming The Dark Knight in IMAX, which will be released in theatres July 18, 2008 in the U.S. and July 25th in the U.K.

In an email sent to Michaela, whom we have to thank for the tip, the IMAX Corporation had this to say:

IMAX.com has confirmed the trailer, but at the moment Warner Bros has not. We are currently trying to get information from Warner Bros about it, and will update as soon as possible.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released in theatres November 21, 2008.

UPDATE: Our affiliate Fuerza Parsel has received a seperate e-mail confirmation from IMAX here.

OMG! I hope Dark Knight is only a 15 so I can get in and see the trailer!!!!

15 seconds!?!? I know its better than nothing but 15 seconds is just enough time to show "WB" ..the name of the movie.. and the date. I'm happy were getting something but were not going to really see any footage.. oh well...

Great! There's an IMAX right near me. I will have to go and see it! Batman though...I'm not a big fan of Batman...but I guess a trailer is worth it.

Uughh. This is just driving me nuts. We've been waiting for SUCH a long time for the trailer to come out, and it still didn't. I mean, Twilight has already released a teaser and even a scene and it's coming out two weeks after HBP!
What is WB playing with? Are they going to release the trailer like a week before the movie comes out? And come on..15 seconds? It'll probably just be the logo and the date or something. But still, it's better then nothing..:/

oooooh yes, it may pop up on YouTube....we have an IMAX theatre here but the seats are miserably uncomfortable...but....when HP Prince opens there, the Imax theatre tends to sell collectibles about the movie that you cannot get at a regular theatre. For the OOTP movie, i bought collectible tins filled w/ trading cards and then hid them from my kids so they would not open them....

WooHoo! 15 SECONDS! Too bad I don't want to see Dark Knight but I'm not spending money on a movie just for a 15 seconds trailer!

This is an IMAX advertisement, not a trailer. No scenes are going to be shown. It's just going to has WB's logo, HP - half blood prince title and tells you to see it in IMAX!!! when the movie comes out. This is according to a guy who works at IMAX per a leaky comment (poster.)

I can just see people paying IMAX prices, driving for a hour for an advertisement. People are going to be mad!

GAHHHHHH. We had a 15 second trailer so much earlier last time, what the heck is taking WB so freaking long with their publicity?

My friend has a theory that their doing so much selling of Twilight so people will go see it. Harry Potter crosses both genders, and that Twilight is mostly aimed at young female adults. Therefore their putting a lot out there about it. Personally, I'm waiting for the book. If it doesn't end the way I hope it will, I'm not going to watch the movie. Their's no point in watching something when it might not even happen...........

I remember that, and it wasn't a mini-trailer, it was a promo for ABC Family's Potter weekend from November 2006 which just showed like ten seconds of the official teaser trailer.

15 seconds.... at least its something i just hope that its not just the title and date of the release...

dude its just a teaser. i really dont expect them to show much of HBP other than the title and a bit of music. that's why we were expecting this baby to hit in May, around the time of Speed Racer, there was no pressure to show any scenes from the film. but it got delayed and its probably because they're gonna use it to boost a movie in the regular theaters that may not be tracking too well with movie goers.

anyway, The Dark Knight is coming out next week! WAHOOOO! :woot:

I think the likelihood of that is pretty evident given the length of said teaser.

guys, do remember that this is just the IMAX version. there should be another one attached to a movie coming out in regular theaters. we just dont know which one that is yet.

15 seconds? That would be just enough time for showing 'Warner Bros. presents Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ... coming soon on November 21st!' or something like that. But really, I don't think we'll be able to see parts of the film itself. Oh well, it's better than nothing.

I haven't really read thru the whole thread to see if I'm the only one who feels this way, but this is pretty lame. I actually take it to be a bit of an insult, in fact. Especially if it's literally just the WB logo, the title and some music. Umm, yea I already know what the title looks like, pretty much. At least with the first TDK teaser, yes you only saw the Batman logo, but you did get some genuine dialogue from the film.

Teasers that show no actual footage whatsoever (and not even audio) annoy the hell outta me. Don't even bother, if that's the case.

I guess everyone has their own opinion on the matter butt, I don't think it's about "showing footage"...Especially with stuff that you already know is gonna be brief: such as trailers.

The point of them, in my opinion, is just to excite you. Watch the HBO/Behind the Looks stuff for real "footage".

Nothing tops you sitting in the movie theatre just rolling your eyes at all the upcoming movies and hoping you'd get to the REAL movie you want to see [with your mind ions away from HP, mind you] and hearing the HP theme music pop up from nowhere...It's a great sensation, really. I squealed. Literally. && then had a friend stuff popcorn in my mouth. An amazing memory that'll stay with me forevermoreeeee.
